“Wildflower against the Stars” - Mystic Messenger Wedding Oneshot Custom Request -V x Stardust

1) Who are you marrying from the group? Why are they your true route?

V~ His route always felt more natural than the others and I’ve already said this before but I relate to him and feel as though I also make progress as he does in his route.

2) What is the style/theme of the wedding?

I’ve never really thought about a consistent style 😅 Uh, magical graden style? Something fantasy-ish? I’m kind of picturing a fairytale (legit fairies and elves, etc.) for some reason lol. I always just kind of imagined something romantic and sweet.

3) What are you wearing?????

I’m torn between ditching the traditional white dress for something colored, preferably red or something pastel-ish (very conflicting and weird, I know). I’ll leave the style to you, because I don’t know a thing about wedding dresses. I just picture ethereal and soft.

4) Choose four key words that describes your dream wedding

Magical, Joyful, Lively, Sweet

5) What’s your first dance song?

Oh, this is a tough one. I’m torn between Lover by Taylor Swift (There actually is a first dance ver. and it is beautiful.) and All I Ask of You from Phantom of the Opera. You can take your pick, I love both!!

6) Colour scheme?

Ahhh!! I’m not very good with this either! I’m thinking pastel would be nice, but colors, consistency, and themes really aren’t my forte. You can also take creative liberty here, if you’d like!!

7) How would you describe your physical appearance? Brown hair etc

ksjfksk I’m back to my wavy black hair, and it falls just past my shoulders.

A long path cutting through a magical, lush green forest, surrounded by delicate white chairs either side. Amongst the greenery, white marble sculptures of nymphs and fairies poured fountains of water or frolicked, suspended mid flight as if they had been transformed to stone merely moments before. An alter poised beneath a flower archway, that was made up of pastel pink and blue roses. Golden lanterns hung from every tree, shimmering their light on every guest as they made their way to their seat . To the left of the alter was a dazzling pavilion, where an orchestra was carefully tuning their instruments and preparing to perform.

And beneath the growing twilight, in the centre of it all, Jihyun Kim glanced down at his watch for the millionth time, shifting back from one foot to the other at the alter.

His best man raised an eyebrow at him, observing his best friend’s behaviour with subtle amusement.

“What are you worried about?” Jumin asked quietly.

“Nothing…nothing.” Jihyun waved his hand.

Jumin tilted his head at him, waiting for the true answer.

Jihyun lowered his head.

“What if….what if she changes her mind?”

Jumin chuckled softly: “It’s been over five years since you both became a couple. This is your wedding day….she’s not going to run away.”

“Five years, four months and two days.” Jihyun corrected, smiling sheepishly.

“The point being, you have absolutely nothing to worry about.” Jumin placed a hand on V’s shoulder, gazing directly into his eyes, a sparkle of mischief appearing: “As your best man it would be against all moral codes and all my responsibilities to lie to you.”

“Well that is reassuring.” V snorted.

The two men chuckled.

Jihyun’s blaser was wine red, and he wore a pristine white shirt and black bow tie beneath, a white aster flower lapel pinned to his tuxedo. His soft blue hair elegantly cut a little shorter for the occasion.

Jumin and the rest of the groomsmen wore impeccable black tuxedos with white handkerchiefs tucked into their breast pockets.

“What was it like?” Jumin said suddenly, his eyes observing the row of white seats before them, watching each guest take their seat.

“What was what like?”

“Falling in love….with her?”

Jihyun turned his mind back to those memories.

His head in her lap, feverish and full of pain as Luciel drove them both away from Mint Eye.

Her nursing him back to health…keeping a constant vigil by his side,

He did not know when exactly his heart became hers.

Perhaps it went to her as soon as he heard her voice speak kindly to him on the phone…

Perhaps it was when she told Luciel that joke in the cabin when she thought Jihyun was sleeping.

Perhaps it was when she rushed to him and held him tight beneath that starry night….

Or perhaps it was when they had walked together along the beach after his eye surgery. She had picked a wildflower and he had taken her picture just as she sneezed from the pollen going up her nose.

After seeing the picture, the two of them had laughed for the first time since the events of Mint eye.

“Now I am free.” She had said.

Those twelve days had happened so fast…but it was enough for him to realise that Stardust was the person he gravitated towards in every room.

Obsessions of Rika melted away into gentle, quiet thoughts of the girl with wavy black hair.

Rika was chaos…Rika was an endless cycle of pain, gain and confusion.

Stardust was a calm centre…with her….everything suddenly was brought into calm clarity.

With her there was no pain, only beauty and hope.

She promised to wait for him after he left to heal…and finding her still expecting him meant the world to him. She accepted him fully, heart and soul…scars, flaws and all.

With her…he came to realise what love truly was.

Love was the ability to be your true self with the one you treasured the most.

Love was not confusing and painful…love was crystal clear with careful boundaries.

Sacrifice and obsession were foreign words to him now.

“It was everything,” He breathed, finally answering Jumim’s question: “Everything I thought I knew…was washed away. I thought I knew what love was, but I didn’t at all. She changed the world for me…made me realise what I needed and wanted all this time.”

Jumin nodded distantly, silently taking in all of Jihyun’s words:

“I can only hope that one day I will experience that.”

“I know you will.” Jihyun replied.

Jumin’s lips twitched and he turned to the front once more.

“I’m honoured that you could be my best man.” Jihyun said

Jumin gave him a rare smile, but before he could say another word, the final guest took their seat, and the officiant took their place at the alter.

The groom and his best man straightened up, their hands instinctually tying behind their backs; brothers as always.

The orchestra slowly began to play a stunning instrumental cover of “All I ask of you”. ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q6q6bkM0WQY ) As the sweet music of the violins and cellos swelled, everyone stood; turning their heads to face the end of the aisle.

First the bridesmaids appeared, each one of them wearing pastel blue dresses and holding bouquets of white Aster flowers. Zen was at the head, accompanying Jaehee by the arm as one of the groomsmen, dashing as ever in his black tuxedo.

He flashed a warm smile at Jihyun as he took his seat beside Jaehee in the front row.

Yoosung then appeared down the aisle, presenting the rings on a small velvet cushion. The custom silver bands were engraved with the pattern of the stars that had been present the night Stardust and Jihyun had confirmed their relationship. Yoosung exchanged a shy, uncertain smile with Jihyun before his taking his place beside Jumin, who gave him an approving nod: A silent affirmation that he had done well.

As the music reached it’s peak, a figure in red appeared.

A beautiful wine coloured ballgown, with a high neckline, sheer sleeves and backless, whilst the soft skirts shimmered with incredible embroidered patterns.

Her black hair was pulled to one side with several white flower hair pins adorning the curls. An ethereal white veil came down to her waist, and as she passed underneath the lantern light, it sparkled softly, as if she had taken a piece of the night sky to embellish the entire look.

In her hands she held a bouquet of white wildflowers, and her face was bright with joy.

It took everything in Jihyun’s power not to run to her immediately.

As Stardust reached her Groom, her eyes glowed with happiness and she stretched out her hand to Jihyun.

He gently took it, and lead her to stand in front of him at the alter.

The officiant opened her book, and waved her hand for the guests to take their seats once more.

The audience slowly sat and the Officiant began the opening speech, after which she introduced the vows.

Jihyun shakily pulled out his written vows on a set of cards that he had to place on a nearby table before the ceremony began due to his nerves.

“Stardust,” He began, his voice wobbling a little as he glanced at the watching crowd.

He swallowed and began again.

“Stardust. When you first met me…I was a hollow shell of a man, who believed that pain was love….that hiding the truth and keeping up appearances was the best thing for everyone.”

He briefly caught Luciel’s eye, who in turn glanced down at his cufflinks.

It had taken a long time for Jihyun to repair that relationship, and it was still fragile at times, but at the very least it was better between him and Seven.

V looked back at his cards.

“But through your compassion and acceptance, I was able to accept myself. You showed me that there was another path than the fate I had decreed for myself. You waited for me to come back because you believed in our love so much. You were willing to open your heart to our future, despite everything you went through. Despite everything…you believed in the best in others. You believed in the best parts of me…and accepted the worst as well.”

Stardust briefly let go of his hands to wipe her eyes, her smile trembling against her emotions.

“You are one of the….if not the… strongest, most wonderful, brave, kind, loyal and smartest person I know.” Jihyun tried to keep his voice as strong as possible.

The first thing that could bring him to tears was always her crying.

“Everyday I am blessed by God to have you beside me. I could not imagine my world without you….nor do I ever want to imagine that reality. So today I vow…”

He slowly turned and Yoosung ushered forward to present the ring.

Jihyun took the constellation ring and carefully slipped it onto his bride’s finger.

“I vow…that I will dedicate my life to our happiness together. That there will always be flowers in our house to make you smile. I vow that I will always listen…and that you will have me to depend on, no matter what time or what weather. I will be your loyal, faithful husband until the end of our days. In sickness and in health…for richer or for poorer…I will stand by your side in love and laughter.”

He held her hands in his.

“As God is my witness, I give you everything I have and everything that I am.”

Stardust let a tear fall as she gazed at the ring on her finger, glowing as she held Jihyun’s hands tightly, taking a deep breath as she began her own vows:

“Jihyun…I knew that it was you I wanted to be with…from the very beginning. I never felt like we had to force anything between us, it all grew so naturally in its own time. In your eyes I saw a mirror of myself and my own struggles. We both changed and learnt so much throughout our relationship. And within my personal troubles, you have been a comfort to me. You were always there for me to be a shoulder to cry on, or to laugh with me in our best moments.”

Yoosung presented the ring for her to take, and she plucked it from the cushion, wiping her eye carefully as she did so.

“Jihyun I promise to be with you every day, no matter what difficulties we face together. I promise that we will bring out the best in each other, even when we feel like the worst sides of ourselves. I vow that we will always be each other’s best friends. In sickness and health…for richer or for poorer, across time and space, I am your wife until the end of eternity.”

She slowly put the ring on Jihyun’s finger, looking up into his eyes and he smiled softly at her.

“By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you husband and wife.” The officiant announced: “You may kiss if you want to.”

The two of them barely waited for the crowd to laugh at the officiant’s joking tone before leaning in for the kiss.

Never had either of them felt such unbelievable happiness.

“Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the newly married couple!” The officiant called out, as V and Stardust stepped out through a new flower archway onto the newly made dance floor to an enthusiastic applause.

Taylor Swift’s lover began, and the couple began to perform the waltz they had practised together in Jihyun’s living room for the past five months.

Jihyun biting his lip in concentration so that he wouldn’t step on his bride’s dress as they danced.

Zen,(ever the drama queen) who had consistently made fun of anyone throughout the entire night who said they would cry, immediately wept at how beautiful the first dance was, and spent most of it sobbing on an unimpressed Yoosung’s shoulder. Even Jumin and Luciel admitted that something might have been in their eye.

The past would never truly fade away, but the newly weds knew that they could face everything, day by day in their own time…together.

Life was not a straight linear line.

They would watch hundreds of sunrises and sunsets, just as they had done at the start of the journey together; with patience and a small smile. Watching it all slowly grow, like a wildflower against the stars.
