You know, most of the time, when fans of color are discussing the problematic elements of a piece of media, it’s not us telling everyone that they’re not allowed to like it. Obviously, people are allowed to like anything they want. We’re simply pointing out what is there and why we’re bothered by it. It also very often comes from a place of love. Many of us are talking about it because we’re disappointed. We don’t want the problematic elements to be there. We wish they weren’t there. But they are.

end of the year fic recs

I love wrapping up favorites at the end of the year, and this is the first time I can do this kind of thing, so I wanted to share some of my favorites fics of the year, in case anyone else is interested, or you’re looking for something new to read over the holidays!
