   carmen had lived in california for years and hadn't been to the ocean until now. it was a relatively cool day for a california summer and there weren't many people at the beach at noon on a workday. her toes curled and uncurled under the sand where they rested just passed the towel she sat upon. the shade from the umbrella she was under provided enough chill that it wasn't too unbearable with the sun beating down. she sat back as she watched what few people littered the beach.

   “i can finally breathe again.” @s-unfleur speaks as she sits down beside her on her own towel. carmen hums in agreement and flashes a knowing smile to lyla as she pushes sunglasses down the bridge of her nose.
