You’re not that bad, you know. Definitely an improvement from the spoiled little rich boy I met in a bar two years ago. [She rolls off and pushed herself up.]
[Tony scoffed and stood as well.] Was that a compliment, Tasha?

Not for me. [She kicks his legs out from under him and rolls them around so that she is on top.] You give up?
Giving up would imply I ever thought I stood a chance.

Yeah…well….I haven’t exactly perfected using the suit yet….
We’re not looking for perfect... Yet, at least. Janet says you have great potential.

“You can buy a chair, if that’d make you feel better,” Matt offered jokingly, but fully aware Tony might take him up on that offer, which is why he said ‘chair’ and not something like a ‘printer’. Time apart or not, Matt already knew how Tony’s crazy mind worked. Most of the time. He still managed to surprise every once in a while, “Well, we’re going to go look at some places next week. We can’t have a firm without an office. Once that’s done, we’ll start right away.”
“Hm, yeah, I’ll buy both of you chairs how about that? Ooh, I could make you guys some desks too, real nice, I could even program a built in braille translator on yours, like a scanner that can read a document and then the surface can be made of some kind of poly-fiber that can raise and form the braille for you-- I’ve been looking for a quick day project y’know--” Tony stopped when he realized he was rambling and that a fancy desk was probably over the top anyway. “Or... Or just the chairs. We can go to IKEA sometime next week,” he sank back in his seat, still thinking about the desk.

Don’t get too cocky. Just because an opponent is down, doesn’t mean they’re out. [She picks herself back up and offers him a hand.]

At least that was something Tony and his father did not have in common. If anything, Tony always seemed to get excited whenever he ran into someone who could match his intelligence. Unless they were egocentric assholes, then of course, they clashed. But Matt would bet it was Bruce’s intelligence what attracted Tony to him, and those two loved each other. Not enough to make him jealous, but they did.
He listened and gave Tony all of his attention, eating while he did so, genuinely enjoying the food. Matt smiled when Tony put his hand on his, and he let go of his fork and hold it back, “No. You don’t have to do anything. If I need your help, I’ll ask for it, alright? Foggy and I’ve got it figured out. I want us to do this by ourselves.” And he didn’t think it’d be good to have their firm connected to Stark Industries in any way. They needed people to trust them, and for that, people couldn’t connect them to a corporation as big as Tony’s.
Tony sighed through his nose but smiled. “Alright, alright. Don’t hesitate to ask me for anything, though. Tell Foggy that too,” he took a sip of wine, trying to pace himself. He didn’t need to get too drunk tonight. He and Matt hadn’t seen each other in so long, and the last thing he needed was to be an incoherent lush when it was time to go to bed. “Do you guys have any plans for the immediate future?”

Like I said, I have a lot of pent up frustration.
More than you can handle?
Maybe, but we’ll see. [He gets in a better stance this time and lets her make the first move. He dodges the first punch, then the second. She clips him with a jab but he manages to get her arm behind her back.] Did you let me do that just now?

thedevilfromhellskitchen:
Matt was really careful nowadays when it came to getting his hopes up, but he could tentatively say the last few months had been… good. After seeing a therapist, he wasn’t obviously magically cured, but he was now able not to repeat to himself in his mind every day that voicemail Tony had left him. The nightmares were less frequent. He was getting a little more sleep. He graduated, which all things considered was surprising. He was still out there saving lives and Fisk was still in jail. And thankfully, no one had tried to assassinate Tony again. He wondered how long that would last. But for now, he’d enjoy this “peace”.
They both had a lot going on, and they hadn’t seen each other as much as they’d have liked to. It didn’t help that Tony lived hours away from New York now, while Matt was firmly planted in Hell’s Kitchen studying for the bar exam. But as soon as he had gotten his results back, he had to call Tony. He was officially a lawyer. His father would have been proud. But most importantly, Matt was excited about all the people he and Foggy were going to help. He’d bring justice to Hell’s Kitchen in more ways than one now.
Celebrating this fact was the perfect excuse to see Tony at least for a night. He remembered he had gotten used to Tony’s intoxicating cologne and natural smell, but the distance had made him vulnerable to all of that again. Could he be blamed for wanting to ravage his egocentric but obviously extremely hot boyfriend on the seat of this really expensive car? Matt was just human. A human who hadn’t seen his boyfriend in a really long time. He had a lot of pent up frustration, and Tony’s teasing kisses once they had arrived to Tony’s mansion outside of the Big Apple were not, in any way, making a good case as to why he had to wait until later to have him under him, “Dinner is not the only thing waiting,” He pointed out slightly frustrated, but smiling and following Tony up the staircase.
“It smells really good in here,” Matt admitted, and he knew right away that Tony hadn’t cooked it, but he hadn’t expected otherwise. He was actually surprised to hear at least the dessert was homemade though, and he chuckled at Tony’s self-deprecating honesty, “I promise I’ll smell it before I decide not to eat it if that’s the case,” He assured him, smiling with amusement as he took a seat.
He raised his eyebrows at Tony’s conversation opener. Interesting choice, “Did he?” Well, corporate lawyers were rats. But was Howard Stark honest enough to reject them? “Well. This is heading somewhere good. Didn’t he get… sued a lot, actually?”
Tony barked out a laugh. “Oh yeah, he absolutely did. I just think he didn’t like people who were smarter than him, even if it had nothing to do with engineering.” He cut his steak into pieces, taking a bite. Delicious, of course. Maybe he needed to pick up cooking as a hobby. He was a serial snacker, but maybe it would be nice to actually cook himself a meal that wasn’t wrapped up in the freezer. “I guess I was just raised on thinking all lawyers were kind of smarmy, y’know? And in my experience, some of them can be. I just... I think it’s really good that there’s people like you and Foggy out there doing what you do,” he smiled and reached over to hold Matt’s hand. “I’m really proud of both of you guys. You need to let me do something to help you guys start up your firm.”

Two hours in the car didn’t feel long at all when Tony was with Matt. Hell, two hours wasn’t even near enough time for them to catch up on what was going on in each other’s lives. Matt had been so busy with school, and this past semester they sometimes went weeks without ever seeing each other. They made it work though, calling and texting whenever they were free. Tony was working hard on making sure the Avengers were credible and trying to figure out new recruits. Sharon and Steve kept him on top of everything, thank god, but there was some much needed TLC. He hadn’t seen Matt since his graduation, but his boyfriend was now a full-fledged lawyer. Matt talked all about the cases he worked pro bono and that he and Foggy were going to try to start a business, and he quickly denied Tony’s offer to help them rent out an office space for their practice. No matter what, Tony just wanted to be there to support him.
Tony pulled into his garage and kissed Matt both before and after they got out. It had been too long since they just had time to sit and relax, but Tony already told JARVIS to hold all his calls unless it was on the level of another alien attack. “Dinner’s waiting,” he mumbled against Matt’s lips, eventually pulling away and walking up the huge staircase to enter the mansion.
The main dining room had a small intimate place setting on one end of the table, a nice steak dinner with accompanying wine and side dishes all laid out for them. “Dessert’s baking in the oven now. Janet taught me how to make creme brule but it’s probably going to come out like shit,” he laughed, sitting down with Matt. The lights were low, not that it mattered much to Matt, but he hoped he liked the dinner his chefs prepared. “You know, my dad always hated lawyers,” Tony said as he poured them both a glass of the rich, red wine.

Oh can we, please? [Scott said, sarcasm dripping from every word. He found himself getting fed up with Tony patronizing him. Sure he hadn’t exactly made a good impression the first time they had met, but he found himself having a hard time keeping his promise to Janet that he would try and get along with the douchbag. Tony was the exact type of person Scott had used to target; rich and full of themselves.]
Well I’m headed back to the base if you don’t mind a bit of a drive. I’ve brought you up to Sharon and Steve and they think it could be a good idea. I want to see what you can do with Janet’s dad’s tech.
