Peter however neglected to tell him that he announced he would come with his boyfriend since he thinks even if they actually were together they wouldn’t need to perform their relationship for anyone so theoretically he wouldn’t have to tell Tony about it

meanwhile Tony is stressing because there haven been multiple people who told him how cute it is how everyone can see the love when they look at each other and Tony is just wondering why everyone can see the love for Peter he’s been trying to hide for so long

Posting this on my Starker blog because I don't have an active Hannibal one right now, but:

As someone who grew up in the south, in a similar but slightly better upbringing than what we heard about for Will, I can just about guarantee you it WAS worse than the show implied. If you were poor in the south, then you held down jobs through connection. The "good ol' boy" network.

The fact that Will's dad couldn't hold down a job and stay stable in one place with a kid speaks volumes. He didn't (wouldn't? couldn't?) make connections like that. Which meant the jobs he did get were the jobs no one else wanted to do either because of what they were or what they paid. Regardless, it undoubtedly ended up with Will being underfed and in less than ideal clothes and housing circumstances. And for a parent to just...deal with that, with a kid? I'm not saying that his dad didn't have the potential to be a good father, and I'm not saying that parents who can't provide these things for their kid are bad parents. But it does imply a pattern of behavior where:

1, keeping Will was more important than handing him over to the state for his own protection, whether due to Bill's pride/ego or some other reason. (This is the most arguable reason as to why they moved around so often in my opinion.)

2, Bill had such a personality to him that he couldn't or wouldn't make connections enough to grow his network and find a stable place to settle down even at a lower income.

or

3, Bill simply not caring about Will enough to do these things for him and following his own wants and needs above his sons, which therefore implies the capacity for much worse behavior.

And each of these three distinct, easily spotted patterns are bad enough on their own, but in reality it was likely a combination of them. That's why I can see how fandom reads into it so much more deeply than the showrunners did. For them, they're looking at present and future of this character. For the fandom, we're looking at how his past influences his actions in the present, which influence in the future. We're all constantly thinking about our past in one way or another, even if it's just "yeah that brand of coffee was ever so slightly weird that one time so I don't get it anymore." With fanfic, you have to weave the tapestry of the character and their history is a huge part of that, so it's pretty necessary to dip into it. So when you don't have a lot to go on, you take what building blocks you do have and extrapolate.

In Will's case...the extrapolation just isn't pretty.

i love how will graham’s childhood in the show is just “my mom left when i was a baby and my dad and i were poor and moved around a lot” and the fandom has collectively been like “hmm no. it was much much worse than that”

In society, an Omega's sole purpose is to act as a servant to the Alphas until they become breeding property.

An Alpha, Tony Stark, gets sent to an Alpha boarding school for his senior year, having been kicked out of all his previous schools for his behavior and insubordination. His first week there, he manages to come across one of the school's Omega servants, Peter, as he was scrubbing the floor on his hands and knees.

While Tony was captivated by the boy, the other Alphas merely laughed as one kicked over Peter's bucket of water, spreading it across the floor.

In the middle of the night, unable to sleep, Tony found himself going to the school's library. There, hidden amongst the piles of books was Peter, his nose buried in the pages as he slowly attempted to read the words in dim candlelight.

When their eyes met, Peter panicked and began to hyperventilate, knowing that he was going to be brutally punished for being found.

Tony immediately calmed him down and promised that he would keep quiet. He discovered that the boy had been teaching himself to read, something that was expressly forbidden for Omegas. However, with his limited access, he was struggling to learn on his own.

The Alpha wasn't sure what came over him, but he immediately offered to help the boy learn as much as he possibly could.

From then on, they snuck around, secretly meeting in the middle of the night for the tutoring sessions. Sure, Tony slept very little and would fall asleep in class the following days, but it was abundantly clear that he was willing to do anything he could to make the Omega smile.

Yeah it's always something like: "Peter loved spending time around Tony. It fulfilled him, made him whole in a way nothing else did. So when the chance came to move into the tower officially, he jumped at the opportunity to be near the man who was in him so deeply it's like he was drugged. #irondad #they're FAMILY" Like that is the least familial statement I have ever read and it's somehow non-incest irondad???? And then they call us weird.

peter’s heart being broken one too many times, the countless taunting and bullying he’s endured, the loss he’s been grieving for what’s felt like a millennia. it weighs heavily on him.

when he’s taken under tony’s wing, it feels like he’s understood for once, like he’s finally being taken seriously. sure, he’s only 16, naivety clings to him like perfume. and sure, perhaps this is nothing more than puppy love, a harmless crush that means nothing in the end. but peter knows it’s not that.

he leans into mr. stark’s innocent touches, flushed cheeks that still clung on to lingering baby fat pressing into the man’s shirt, inhaling the ridiculously overpriced cologne. glossy eyes lined by long eyelashes look up at him, shaky fingers clutching the fabric

he pleads, softly, without words. his heart tears itself to pieces as mr. stark pushes him away. he cries, reaching out like a petulant child—and perhaps, he truly was one.

“kid..” a sigh, fingers massaging the bridge of his nose. “how old are you again?”

peter shakes his head, all his insecurities flooding back into his mind.

just this one thing… it’s all he wants. just this.

slowly, he gets on his knees, crawling towards him—Tony Stark.

fat tears roll down his cheeks as he climbs into the man’s lap, lower lip wobbling, anguish coming off of him in waves, causing tony’s breath to hitch.

peter nuzzles his face into the man’s neck, feeling the way his stubble scratches gently against his smooth, unmarred skin.

it’s like heaven.

for tony it’s like looking into the deepest pits of hell, temptation egging him closer.

fuck.
