So many plots come to my mind when I watch this. So much angst and then so many ways of make them happy again.

furt headcanons interlude: the fights

these are the things Kurt and Finn have fought about in the house from time to time:

who uses all the hot water (Finn. Kurt only uses a little b/c cold water is better for the skin.)

who drinks the most milk Kurt. Not only at night but also for cereal. Finn just eats dry cereal. Plus Kurt’s latest sleep habit is pouring things out into the sink b/cs of his reoccurring bar-tending dream

who broke the remote. (stalemate. neither of them believe they were the ones to do it.) (It was neither of them. It was just an old remote.)

whose in charge of the house while the parents are gone. also stalemate. Kurt thinks he’s more responsible (he is) but Finn believes since is not only physically bigger but also a few months older it puts him in charge. Burt and Carole don’t understand this argument b/c they’re both 16 and therefore do not need somebody to be in charge.

who’s fault is it that the window broke: Finn believes it’s Kurt b/c he was supposed to catch the ball. Kurt believes it’s Finn because he threw something at Kurt in the first place. it doesn’t matter. they both had to pay for the replacement anyways. 

who is the more intense one on game night: Kurt. He gets to wrapped up in trying to win but Finn has dumb luck on his side and plays too casually to really care. 

who won monopoly: both believe it was them. Finn says it’s because he ended with all his properties having hotels. Kurt says its him because he had the most money. once again, Burt and Carole don’t understand the argument b/c both Finn and Kurt fell asleep before the game could end.

who has the louder habits: Finn, but not by much. He lives on the first floor so no one hears him walking around much, and he plays drums only when everyone else is awake or gone, or doesn’t mind. Kurt is generally quiet but he plays his music loudly in the shower, and the poor boy can;t help any of his actions while sleepwalking.

who gets away with more: the last stalemate. Burt can see right through Kurt and Carole can see right through Finn. Neither of them really try.

Sam: Everyone wants you. You’re like the hot girl that every guy wants.

Finn: I’m the hot girl?

Sam: You are the hottest girl.

Finn: I’m the hot girl.

Rachel & Kurt: Yes, you are.

Finn sang “Push me up against the locker

For Kurt and you cannot tell me otherwise.

Finn : What are the symptoms of teenage depression?

Rachel : Why do you ask, Finn?

Finn : Kurt was doing laundry earlier and he dropped a sock and I heard him say “why has God forsaken me?”

Puck: Shit.

Kurt: Language!

Finn: A model citizen right here.

Kurt: Oh, fuck off!

When they first moved in together they didn't really know how to function around each other, beyond saying hi in the halls.

No amount of saying it actually made them realize that they were brothers now. Finn would still jump when he turned into the kitchen and saw Kurt, Kurt would still freeze when he saw Finn on the couch watching TV with his dad.

Finn lasted 3 weeks before he broke and asked Mercedes what Kurt's favorite movies were. She said "The Sound of Music, but you can't go wrong with a Disney movie."

Finn had never seen The Sound of Music.

"Hey man," he knocked on Kurt's door, "Rachel wouldn't stop talking about this movie, you wanna watch it with me so I don't embarrass myself?"

He wasn't subtle, but apparently the concept of watching The Sound of Music with someone who had never seen it was enough to get Kurt's attention.

"I actually like musicals," he told Kurt. "I just never get a chance to watch them with someone who won't make fun of me for it."

"What about Carole?"

"She's always working, I'm sure you've noticed. She doesn't really have a lot of free time to watch a movie she's already seen just so I have someone to hang out with."

Kurt nodded.

"And I know I've been hanging around Burt a lot but, just being around your parents all the time is kind of a drag y'know?"

He liked the sound of music, even if it was a little long and he almost fell asleep in the middle there.

The next day Kurt knocked on his door, "Do you want to watch The Matrix with me? I've never seen it."

"You've never seen The Matrix?!"

"I didn't come here to be judged Finn."

"No, no, let's go."

Kurt liked it.

They found out about a week later, after they had been hanging out nearly every day, that their "favorite movies" were not actually their favorite movies.

Kurt's favorite movie was Spider-Man. Or Rush Hour, depending on how he feels that day.

Finn's was Dirty Dancing. Full stop.

"Really?! Puck told me it was The Matrix, or Inception."

"Ha, those are his favorite movies, I just like them a lot. Mercedes told me yours was The Sound of Music."

"Well it's certainly up there, but it's not really something you can just throw on and watch all the time."

"Agreed."

It was nice knowing that Kurt put in the same effort that he did.

They adjusted. It didn't take Finn long to realize he loved him now. Kurt's his brother. He always wanted a little brother.

A year later Sam moved in. When they all jumped when he entered the living room, they just looked at each other and asked him what his favorite movie was.

Neither of them liked Avatar. But Sam's enthusiasm and info-dumping distracted from how boring they thought it was.

(Sam thought it was crazy how it seemed like they could read each other's minds. Finn and Kurt at school were nothing like Finn and Kurt at home. Kurt would nudge Finn, hold up three fingers and look pointedly at the tv and Finn would lose it, as if any of that made any sense at all. But Sam was used to it, after having to babysit his siblings, who were the masters of inside jokes even though they were only ten. He just hoped someday he would have something like that.)
