I'm thinking more about Annabelle's confrontation with Henry, because the way Luke (and AJ too) play it means so much to me. It's so realistically scary. So many details I adore in that short minute, because it says so much to me as a queer semi-woman:
Henry calls Annabelle "darlin'" straight off the bat. Of course darlin' is a common stereotypical southern term of endearment, but compounded with Henry's affection for Annabelle, and Annabelle's confused, "oh shit does he mean me" reaction, there's a sense I get that he's already verbally claiming her as his beloved. Without her consent. She's very much not endeared.
The very third thing Henry says is "give me your foot". With zero context. He brushes aside Annabelle's denial ("that's not mine"), and when she doesn't want to, he forces it on her.
Annabelle's reaction throughout this is constantly trying to diffuse the situation, downplaying her reactions. Forcing the shoe on her is already harassment, but she just says "I don't like this". She only pushes Henry's hands away as much as necessary so he wouldn't touch her in an act of very understandable panic, and then she puts her hands down like she's trying to calm them both down.
Because the reality is that historically, queer women face violence from cishet men, as both queer people and as women. Annabelle's reactions scream to me that she's aware that Henry, a man and a police officer, has so much social power over her, an eighteen-year-old young woman. It's not about being a bank robber or not (Henry clearly doesn't care either), or that she can shoot well; it's that she's a woman and he's a man, and the common sentiment was (and still is, in many circles) that women are men's belongings. Queer women aren't queer to those men, because queerness gets in the way of their "rightful" claim over women. Henry doesn't have to explain himself, because he feels entitled to have her even though she doesn't know who he is. He refuses to listen when she repeatedly says she's not interested out of entitlement and arrogance. He doesn't even consider that she might not be into men at all!! He forces the shoe on her, like putting shackles on her to claim her as his. He can be as violent as he wants, and she knows it'll be his word against hers if she makes a scene. So she tries not to.
Just. I really love that they didn't shy away from the realities of being queer women. So far most gay couples in sfth are in settings where being gay is accepted, like Ditch, like Bubbamiah. But Annabelle and Butch both don't get to be queer women (or non-men) in an ideal setting with zero homophobia and sexism, and those two intersect very nicely (and realistically) here.

Sorry I died guys I've been on a new au and it's fun to think about but not so much to write or draw
The basic idea is society if the traffic smp system was just what life was like, not just a death game- it takes place in a place called Red City, where they send people on their third lives to prevent widespread chaos.. since, yknow, you turn violent on red
The pov character is Jimmy because I am predictable but the main character is actually Pearl, you just see it through his eyes. They're the youngest people in red city and teamed up together to survive!
Every character in the life series is on their red life and in the red city, but other characters from other smps are also around and on their yellow and green lives. Red city may be physically isolated, but not socially- They still have access to the internet and stuff, so a lot of side characters can pop up online.
The fun of this au is giving everyone their own unique way of killing people- for example, Ren runs a theater production where he always kills his actors at the end
I'll likely just be making designs for everyone and posting them but not much else, so don't expect a lot from me until I get my focus back on the other aus of mine
I call this au the red city au but I've been jokingly calling it Traffic Civilation in my mind haha

Obsessed with Daisuke's character introduction, I had to turn it into a comic panel. I love this season so much already, the reaction of the intrepid heroes when Zack said "dribble out a little piss" was priceless.

SFTH Longform Movie Posters are back, baby! This time turning The Phantom of Hornchurch into the 1943 Phantom of the Opera, because how could I resist that play on words?
Fun fact, apparently the real life parish in Hornchurch is called St. Andrews, which is the steeple that I've put in the background here. Wonder if the guys knew that when they gave Father Andrews his name, or if that's a happy coincidence. As always, poster comparison to the original film poster is below, and let me know if you'd like a specific longform get the film poster treatment!

Like, look at that original poster. It's literally perfect for this longform, how could I not? (also can you tell that every time I get writer's block, I make one of these? XD)

All Star Wars references in "The Enigma of the High Visionary" explained:
Since some people asked for it/were posting that they didn't get the references, here it is explained by a SW fan: 1. "Your child, his vision count is off the charts. I've never sensed a power like it." So, in the SW universe, there is this mysthical entity called The Force, that allows you to do some cool ass shit and some people cannot commune with The Force at all, some are Force Sensitive and possess the ability to tune into it and use it and some individuals are very Force Sensitive and very strong in the Force. In Episode I, The Phantom Menace, two Jedi knights discover a slave boy on the remote planet of Tatooine and they test his abilites/blood for this thing called a "midichlorian count" (which existance was highly devisive in the fandom), which is basically like a benchmark score for how sensitive you are to the Force. This boy, called Anakin Skywalker, had an insane midichlorian count and was basically the strongest known Force user in the galaxy. Also, there is this line of dialogue in TPM:
2. "How many vision-chlorians did you measure?" A pun on the midichlorian-measuring thing.
3. "It was higher than the Grand Visionary's." In the movies the two Jedis from the gif above comment on how this child's midichlorian count is higher that the count of Yoda, who was one of the most powerful Force Users at the time and the spiritual leader of the Jedi Order.

4. "He must join us. He will join us." So, in Episode V, Empire Strikes Back, we learn that Darth Vader is the biological father of Luke Skywalker (sorry for the 45 year old spoilers!) and he tries to convince his son to join the Dark Side (i.e., the bad guys) and be Evil Together. He goes to great lenghts to convince his son to join him, as Darth Vader's boss would most likely kill Luke if he didn't prove himself as useful to him/Vader.

5. "I am a high-functioning dad" Not really a SW reference, but Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader was an absolutely shitty father. 5. "- At the council? - The Council have been blinded for too long. They don't recognise me. The granted me the... the rank of Vision Knight, but they don't let me sit upon the Council!" In Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, Anakin Skywalker gets a seat on the Jedi Council (the highest governing body of the Jedi Order), but is denied a promotion to the rank of Jedi Master. This makes him blow up and leads to this scene that has been so memed to death I can quote that shit in my sleep:
youtube
6. "Not just the men, but the women, and the children too." A direct quote copied from Episode II, Attack of the Clones, when Anakin murdered a bunch of people and told his crush about it.

7. "I thought we could watch your favourite film, The Phantom Menace." A lot of people thought this movie was absolute garbage (Sam included).
8. "I would love to watch The Phantom Menace, the best Star Wars movie." Sam hates it. 9. "happy-J" AJ loves it. 10. "I like how that alien sounds offensively Japanese.", "That looks a bit anti-semitic.", "Sure, that will age well." Some of the aliens in the prequels seem like thinly veiled stereotypes of some racial/ethnic groups, sometimes bordering on offensive. 11. Sam screaming "whooo waaaa bumballa" or something is him humming this song (which is a banger, just listen to this shit)
youtube
12. If you have watched the above clip to the very end, you will notice one of the Jedis got killed. This is what Sam references when he says "Liam Neeson just died."' 13. When Sam does the motorbike hands and engine noises, it's a reference to pod racing, which is basically the equivalent of motorbike racing.
youtube
14. "Meesa called Jar Jar Binks. Meesa Gungan." "That seems racist." In Episodes I and II there is this character called Jar Jar Binks, who is widely accepted to be the worst character in the history of cinema. He is also somewhat a Jamaican stereotype. 15. "I feel a presence." Force users can sense other Force users when they appear in a non-defined radius away from the user. The more familiar/stronger the Force user, the easier it is to pick up on their presence. 16. When Thomas Senior shows Thomas Junior to the High Visionary, it looks like the scene from Episode VII, The Return of the Jedi, when Darth Vader presents his son, Luke Skywalker, to his boss, Emperor Palpatine. Luke refuses to work with the Emperor, to the Emperor tries to kill him. Darth Vader then has a change of heart and saves his son by killing the Emperor. If I missed any, do let me know! (at the request of @shootfromthehipobsessed)
