I am coming out of retirement to reblog this and only this. Rex was a very interesting character and he deserved more than just an "lol i don't exist now kthxbai".

You heard me right! Rex Dangervest deserved better!

Looking back, this man had a really rushed ending. You cannot expect me to accept the fact that Emmet Brickowski, the guy who cares about everything and anything, saw the future version of himself die in front of him and shrug it off by asking Lucy whether or not he was a figment of his imagination.

What happened to Vest Bros?

What happened to the brother you never had, Emmet?

If there’s a third Lego Movie, PLEASE let Rex come back and get the ending he deserves. Let him make up with the others, let him grow as a person. Don’t just kill him off and call it a day, forgetting he was ever a character in TLM2.

This guy really had a lot of issues, and TLM2 could’ve helped him grow as a person from it. Let Rex cry, let him show emotion. Let him get some comfort instead of Emmet and Lucy watching him disappear. That would’ve given a better message about healing from your past instead of “don’t be a living representation of toxic masculinity.” 

As much as TLM2 was a good movie, they handled Rex’s death really badly.

Sorry about the rant, the ending to TLM2 really bugged me.

How To Be a Good RP Partner

Do:

Respect the fact that your RP partner has a life outside of RP. Work, family, friends, children, medical issues, school, or even just other hobbies/TV shows/other games. Respect any of it. If you don’t, they’ll likely become stressed, annoyed, or burnt out.

Show that you appreciate them. You can do this by: sending them messages, expressing your excitement about your story with them, share ideas with them, or even just flat out tell them.

Respect their boundaries. Some people don’t like to discuss OOC things with their RP partners. This doesn’t mean they don’t like you as a person or that they don’t want to be friends within the RP world. They just might be a private person.

Send them prompts/memes/asks that they reblog. It shows that you’re invested in the story and learning more about their character and it helps keep the RP going even in little ways. Just because you RP with them regularly doesn’t mean you can’t send them things on tumblr.

Communicate! This is something that we see talked about a lot but it’s surprising how often it isn’t really done.  If you have a problem with how something is going, tell them. If you feel like something is wrong, ask them! It doesn’t do either person any good if things aren’t talked about.

If your partner comes to you with something they feel is wrong or they have a question, ect. Be honest!

Don’t:

Harbor resentment about something until you blow up on your partner.

Do something or push for something that they have already told you that they are not comfortable with.

Try to change their character.

Discourage them from RPing with others.

Guilt them for not RPing with you.

Take them for granted.

Keep them as a “trophy” once you have them and then rarely RP with them after that, stringing them along.

Lie to them. About anything.

No Roleplay Is Worth Abuse

I mean it. No roleplay is worth suffering abuse, tolerating abuse.

“But I love my characters too much” Are fictional characters worth sacrificing self-care? No, absolutely not.

“But I love the roleplay too much” Is a story worth sacrificing your mental health? No, absolutely not. 

“But I can’t find anyone better” Yes, you can find better, more caring and positive people. Yes. You. Can.

“But they’re my friend” Friends don’t abuse. Period. 

“But I can’t move on without them/their characters” Says who? You don’t NEED someone else to move forward. That’s up to you and how you choose to go about it. Just because your characters are heavily intertwined with someone else’s character doesn’t mean you can’t leave and your characters aren’t able to move on.

I’ve heard all the excuses before and I just absolutely will never tell someone to stay in a roleplay if they’re being abused. I won’t stand for it. 

This is a hobby, first and foremost. A community where you’re supposed to enjoy yourself and have fun, not be abused, manipulated, and neglected. You will run into people who do this in the community unfortunately, but there is NOTHING in this hobby worth staying in an abusive relationship for. At all. Ever. 

You deserve much better than that. You deserve to be treated with respect and kindness. Those people who are abusive don’t deserve you.
