NAME: Daisy O'Doogle ASSIGNED SIDNEYLAND: Celestial Lake JOB TITLE & ASSIGNMENT: Face Character - "Rebel Leader" FAVORITE RIDE/ATTRACTION: Big Bad Bill's Backwards Railroad YEARS EMPLOYED AT SIDNEYLAND: 3
Daisy always wanted to be some kind of famous. She went to a few auditions after leaving drama school, scored herself a few small roles here and there, but she never really got her big break. She kept trying, but more and more she became aware of the fact that she really needed a job...
Hence Sidneyworld. It was not a step in the wrong direction, not at all. Because Daisy didn't go the traditional route, didn't ingratiate herself into the culture through custodial work and food service and merchandise until she reached the top, oh no. When auditions for face characters opened up to external candidates, Daisy went for it. She gave it her best shot... and she got the part!
Of course, she's not exactly famous. It's hardly world-renown, but it's still pretty good. All the Sidney adults know her and many claim she's their favourite of the Rebel Leaders, and the children love her too. It's still acting, and in the mean time, she can still get a few auditions in here and there!
Plus, with the high turnover of guests and the universal allure of the park, working at Sidneyland is great for networking... Amongst other things. Not that she makes a habit of fraternising with the guests, but if a certain Insuracare employee happens to come around, she might just be a little late coming back from her breaks.
Daisy knows that one day she'll move on from Sidneyland (into a Sidney movie, perhaps?) but until then, she's enjoying her time as a Rebel.

Daisy didn't so much as flinch as the pen flew her way. She had been an actress in the 50s and 60s - she was used to having things thrown at her head by angry directors. And anyway, the trajectory of it meant that it was going to sail right past her, so she wasn't too concerned.
She could've quite asily reached out and caught it, but she wasn't about to give herself away so easily. Instead Daisy watched it soar through the air, having the good grace to act a little shocked as it landed just a few feet behind her.
She scurried to pick it up, turning back to... oh, it was Franny Robinson. Daisy did vaguely remember her from the Flamingo incident. She smiled, holding the pen out and said, "That's a good throwing arm you've got there. Or wrist, I suppose."

Yes, well - that wasn't true, was it?
Because Daisy had found herself a nice little awards-fodder project, put her all into it, done all the schmoozing and publicity required to make a movie an awards season success, and it had failed. The movie had been a flop, and she had been embarrassed, and it would have been an excellent excuse to shuffle back into the shadows and wait out the next decade.
But, whatever. She supposed she should be grateful to Minnie for trying to spare her feelings. Daisy smiled, leaning forward for a gentle kiss.
"As are you and yours." She said, pulling back just enough to speak. "But really, I'll be alright. Filming won't take that long, and I'm not planning any other projects just yet. There's still the hotel to think about."

"Perfect!" Daisy beamed, as if it was all done and dusted, settled and sorted right there.
Of course, there would be a mountain of things to do and to prepare. She had already discussed it with the producers - and maybe used a little bit of her vampiric wiles to get them on board - so that was all squared. But they would need a proper date, first of all, and then they would have to think about invitations (the cast and some of the crew, obviously, but Swynlake theatre wasn't that small, there would be room to accommodate others), and inviting the press--
And, well, if they all had to stay in the Tipton, Daisy was sure she could find rooms for them all.
There would be a lot to think about it, yes, but with filming wrapped up save for a few reshoots here and there, there would be plenty of time. All she needed now was to know that they could do it, and she was very pleased that he'd said yes.
(Not that she had expected otherwise. It was an honour for the cinema here to host such an event, of that Daisy was quite sure.)
"Of course, I know there's so much to think about, and you already have such a full plate. Here--" She reached into her bag, pulling out a small notebook and a pen, and scribbled down a telephone number. Not her personal, obviously; she had a work phone for things like these. "There's not any real rush. They're still piecing it all together anyways. But any time you're free, give me a call and we can discuss it. I'll speak to the producers in the meantime. Is there anything you need to know right away?"

Daisy wondered, for the smallest of moments, if she should tell Minnie exactly what she had done. They rarely kept secrets from one another; after all, it all came out eventually. So it would be tempting to tell her that she had not come across this job under her own steam, but rather had made a deal to snatch it from someone else. Minnie probably wouldn't even judge her. They were both cut-throat and blood thirsty (no pun intended) when they needed to be.
But she felt, for some reason, that this was different. The deal she had made... Minnie might think it was too much. She might think Daisy had gone too far. And so Daisy returned to the plan she had set as she had walked away from Magnifico's home: she would keep quiet until she'd won her awards. Then she would have the proof that it had all been worth it, and how could Minnie be mad with her then?
"Of course I will." Daisy said, stepping forward to wrap her arms around Minnie's waist, leaning back a little so she could still see her face. "It's just - so much, all at once. But I'll be fine. It'll be good to get back to work again, if anything."

Daisy had yet to look over the details, if she was honest. One of the producers had arranged for her to be picked up, had sorted out her flights, had arranged the car at the other end... all Daisy had to do was show up. And show up she would, ready and raring to go.
For a second she looked a little blank. Edward-- No, she did remember, brief flashes of those early days in this new life. Things were so tricky then. The days, weeks, even months blurred together... Had they always done that?
She didn't know how her deal with Magnifico could affect her memories of the time after. Daisy knew she had been human once because obviously, no one was born a vampire, but when she tried to think about it, it was like her brain re-directed her elsewhere. An optical illusion, light bending around that time of her life. What did it matter anyways? It hadn't been that exciting. But the fuzziness of the start of her second life... had that always been there?
But yes, anyway-- she did know. She remembered Edward. The confusion cleared from her eyes and she smiled, and said, "She's a doll, like you say. I might call her, wherever I end up."

Daisy had noted just how much the community had rallied together for the cinema. But, then again, that didn't surprise her very much. As far as she was concerned, movies were magic; not just the kind that made you money (though they did make her a lot of money, thanks), but the kind that transported you elsewhere for a short while, and made you forget everything else that was going on. Of course, nowadays Daisy couldn't remember any trips to the picture house as a girl in Swynlake, nor if there had even been a picture house - such was her deal to get her career back on track. Maybe if she could, she would've recalled how her desire to be an actress hadn't just been born out of a want to be famous, but to want to be in those magical pictures on screen.
So of course it was no real surprise that people kept turning out for the cinema, and offering a hand. Daisy was only glad to hear it, because for her pitch to work, she would need the cinema to be back to peak condition.
"Aw, thank you," She said, smiling wide. "It's still a work in progress, the reshoots are killing me, but I'm pretty proud of it." It had all been a bit of a rush job, on her end. But again, such was life when you made the kind of deal she had made to make it happen. She wasn't about to complain too much. "It's actually the first movie I've worked on whilst being in Swynlake, and I was thinking, if you'd be agreeable to it, of having a premiere for it here."

This was not Daisy's fault.
Daisy was extremely careful with her reptiles and her snakes. You could keep pretty much whatever you wanted to in the States if you had enough money to sufficiently hide them, but to move all her beloved pets to the UK she had gone through a whole rigamarole, getting more licenses than she knew what to do with. Some of her animals had been expensive, some procured especially for her. She would never just leave their habitats open, or let them roam the house.
Or let them out the back door.
She was beside herself with worry. Christiana, her gorgeous red-bellied black snake, had only been missing for a matter of hours. But that was a few hours too many, and so Daisy had called around everyone she could think of until she was given a name: Jake Rogers.
She had told him to come round as soon as possible, and had instructed the butler to let him in as soon as he arrived. Hence how he found her pacing the foyer, her head in her hands, when he finally got there.
"Jake Rogers?" She asked, though she was going to make an assumption that it was him. At first glance he looked like the type of guy to be able to wrangle snakes and crocodiles and who-knew-what. "Thank god you're here. I don't even know how she got out, but I've looked everywhere." The living room was in enough disarray to pursuade him of that, she hoped. "She could be out in the garden, but I have no idea-- she's only young. She won't survive on her own outside!"

"Good!" Daisy smiled, casting her gaze around the place. It seemed like it still had a ways to go, but... all renovation projects had to start somewhere, right? Daisy knew the feeling. The Tipton had been a mess for months, and she'd had some of the best contractors money could buy. "It's such a shame what happened. And even worse that it means the town is without a cinema!"
Sure the rise of screening meant that people could watch pretty much any movie from the comfort of their own living room any time they wanted to. But, call Daisy an old romantic, she preferred the feel of a night at the cinema. The darkened room, the anticipation, the big screen, the sound bouncing all around you... it was magical, wasn't it?
Plus, one of her favourite parts of being a movie star was attending glitzy and glamorous premiere nights. Walking the red carpet in a dress that had been made just for her and fit her perfectly, fans screaming her name, begging for a photograph... what wasn't there to love about that? And yes, there were far bigger and likely better cinemas in London and Hollywood and New York and, well, all over the place, but it was also nice to be able to go back to your own home after an evening out instead of going to some hotel.
"I'm glad to hear it's going well, though. Especially because I had a bit of a pitch for you." She smiled playfully, and said, "I don't know if you've heard, but I have a new movie that's due to release at the end of November."

The producers and the director had assured Daisy that there would be a tight turnaround for the film. Filming had already begun anyway, before their previous leading lady had "dropped out" (Daisy wondered how that worked - did her wish orchestrate some kind of family disaster, or just change how that other actress reacted to it? She had no idea, but thankfully, she didn't really care), and with a tight-ish schedule, they'd be edited and scheduled for release just in time for Awards season.
Which of course meant determining when the premiere would be. There was no set date for it just yet, but that didn't mean Daisy couldn't plan, and she did have a rather good idea...
Well, it was a good idea to her, anyway. A real give-back-to-the-community sort of thing. Who wouldn't love a load of A-list (alright maybe more like B- and C-list, but still) celebrities descending on the town for a night of glitz and glamour? All put up in Daisy's hotel, of course, and all encouraged to sample the local restaurants and do a little shopping at the local boutiques. It would work out brilliantly!
Hence why she was now walking up to the cinema. Though still awaiting reopening after all that business earlier in the year, Daisy had thought it would be a good enough place to meet. When she saw the manager waiting she plastered on her brightest smile, calling out once she was in earshot, "Mr. Doyle, hi! Thank you so much for meeting with me, I know you must be so busy. How's it going in there?"

She did remember, actually. Fifty years ago might as well have been five minutes ago, the memory coming back into sharp focus as Minnie talked about it. The further back she went, things did get a little fuzzy, especially the time just after she was turned... but that was so long ago now, and not exactly the most fun time.
The weekend her wife was referring to had been fun, though, and was far more pleasant to think about. Daisy grinned, leaning her cheek against Minnie's cool, open palm. She had been Daphne then, a scream queen, the final girl. Her movies were far more niche than Minnie's, but there had been a few horror fanatics in the crowd that weekend.
"I remember that the flight out there felt like it took forever," She sighed. Back then, Hollywood to Atlanta had felt like oceans away. And, y'know - there had been no in-flight entertainment to keep her occupied. "All worth it, of course."
She pressed a brief kiss to Minnie's lips and then moved away, looking for two glasses and a new bottle of wine to open. "Though, I'm not expecting you to visit me on set - unless you want to, of course. We've got a bit of filming out on location to do, I think. Tennessee or Kansas or somewhere. Nowhere I've been before, anyway, and nowhere interesting."

Daisy didn’t drive — at least, not this version of herself. She could, but she didn’t see the point when you could pay for someone to drive you around. And anyway, it had been too long since she’d tried to drive in England, on the wrong side of the road, and the last thing she needed right now was the bad press associated with a car accident.
But that didn’t mean she didn’t enjoy driving, and it didn’t mean she couldn’t enjoy a luxury car when she saw one. Her tastes were a little more modern these days, preferring a Ferrari or a Porsche to a Jaguar or a Rolls Royce, but she still knew quality when she saw it.
“I was just looking at your car — a panther de ville?” Daisy asked, looking the woman up and down. She recognised her, but then, she recognised a lot of people nowadays… “It’s a classic.”
