The Bae’st of All

Avatar Challenge 2

Fandom: Ikemen Sengoku

Character: Kyubae the bae’st bae of all aka Kyubei

Prompt: Seeing how Kyubei is named after an alias that the real Mitsuhide Akechi used (Juubei) the chances of fans getting a Kyubei route from Cybird are slim. However, it is simply impossible not to fall for this man. He is too good. So here have my attempt at writing a route.

A/N: EARLY CHRISTMAS PRESENT?? Haha, no I just know that a lot of people will be busy over the holidays (I sure will be) so you get an early update so that I can spare everyone the stress.

Dazedly I let myself lean into the vassal heavier, my eyes fluttering shut as I suddenly feel fatigue overwhelming me.

“You don’t look too good, what is disturbing you?”

I can hear Kyubei’s voice vibrate through his chest, a deep rumbly sound as he tugs me closer, his arm sweeping under my legs as he carries me up.

“I will return the lady to her room.”

I hear Kyubei speak, but to whom I care little as I allow myself to snuggle in closer, stealing his warmth as I continue to seek my comfort within his arms.

“It is alright, [Name]. I’m here.”

I hear his voice closeby. I can feel his lips nearly brush past my ear. Slowly, my grip on his collar relaxes, earning an exhale from Kyubei who had been holding his breath.

(I didn’t realise I was clinging onto him.)

“I’m sor—“

I try to apologise, but Kyubei hushes me as he lowers me to the floor of my room, his smile kind and warm as ever as he set me down.

“It is my job to look after you.”

He says this as his fingers brush out a loose strand of hair out of my face.

(You and I have gone much beyond that line of servitude, however.)

I don’t say my thoughts out loud as I allow Kyubei to look after me, his dark blue eyes shimmering while he drinks in my appearance. My own heart beating, trying to remember every gesture and kindness of this man that posed himself off as a shadow.

“You will be safe. Azuchi will make sure of that.”

Kyubei’s words aren’t of any comfort for once as I reach out for him, taking hold of his sleeve as I tug.

“And what about you?”

The question startles him as Kyubei eyes me once more, his expression softening into something endearing, though I can read the uncertainty within those clear blue eyes I have come to love so much.

Long fingers brush through my hair as he catches a strand and brings it to his lips. Softly he leaves a kiss behind before letting my hair slip out and back into place.

“I will always protect you.”

That wasn’t what I had meant either, but both Kyubei and I were aware of that. The words we truly wanted to say left between the two of us, leaving the air thick and our emotions stifling.

Kind of now hope his route will be full of ridiculous innuendo delivered completely innocently, only for it to eventually be revealed he knew exactly what he was saying the whole time… :’)
