I thought buying a plant for my new apartment would a good idea but while I was taking it inside, I tripped and fell. The pot broke and I cut my finger while I was cleaning my mess. I was wondering if you knew where is the closest store I could buy bandages?
What a welcome to Snowbury, I guess. Hopefully the rest of your time here is better. Are you staying or vacationing? I’m Dorsey Corcoran, I’m a dancer at The Gaslighter and I’m like an apprentice of sorts at the auto body shop.

Reg: Nah, I don't mind. It's just me here. Come on over.
Reg: Ya did? That's big. You good?
Dorsey: I'm coming. I miss you.
Dorsey: I did, yeah. I told you that I would. I'm okay, yeah. I've been talking to Drew about the job he offered me too. What have you been up to?

SUMMARY: There’s a little bit of the 14th in here but the bulk of this is from last night, where Reg followed Dorsey to work and then texted him to call him out on being a stripper basically. Because he was half naked, Dorsey’s soulmark on his shoulder where Reg injured his in baseball was visible and also got called out.
Reg:
Yo. You busy tonight?
Dorsey:
Nope. Do you want to change that?
Reg:
Maybe. I rented some movie.
Dorsey:
I could come over and watch it with you. What movie?
Reg:
You wanna? Uh. The Conjuring. Supposed to be really scary or some shit.
Dorsey:
I do, yeah. Oh wow. Do you mind if I sit on the same couch as you? Since it's scary. I trust you.
Reg:
Cool. Yeah, you can do that. You...Do?
Dorsey:
I do, yeah. More than anyone else.
Reg:
You shouldn’t.
Dorsey:
Why?
Reg:
You act like you ain’t got a clue who I am.
Dorsey:
I do know who you are. You're the man that saved my life. I was never afraid of you. Not before, and not now.(edited)
Reg:
...It wasn’t nothin. I wasn’t gonna let him kill ya. Not without one hell of a fight. You’re insane. Wantin to sit on the same couch as me. All of ghat.
Dorsey:
You're not nothing either. Not to me. Even before that. I tried to do what I could for you. It didn't surprise me that it was you that saved me. Do you really think it's insane? {March 14, 2021}
--------------------------------
Reg:
Hey.
Dorsey:
Hey, you. How are you?
Reg:
Alive. Where are you?
Dorsey:
Uhhh... Where are you?
Reg:
Pretty sure I asked you first. Don't do that shit.
Dorsey:
I'm out. I went to a club.
Reg:
Why?
Dorsey:
To dance. What are you up to?
Reg:
What, you meetin' someone?
Standin' outside.
Dorsey:
No, of course not. There isn't anyone I would be meeting. Outside, like outside in general or...?
Reg:
There isn’t?
I dunno. You can find out.
Dorsey:
No. Except for you. I'd meet you somewhere, if you asked. ....Shit.
Reg:
Me? Why me?
Yeah. So. You wanna try again on that whole why you're here thing?
Dorsey:
Because. Well, I mean, it's just, I mean, I'm here because... I work here.
Reg:
Because? That ain't an answer.
What, you're workin' security?
Dorsey:
Because I like you, and I'd do anything you asked me to. Well, no. I uh.. I didn't lie before. ...I came to dance.
Reg:
Come again? ....The fuck does that mean? You're tellin' me you're a stripper? At a gay club?
Dorsey:
I'll come outside. You'll see.
Reg:
I'll see? See what? Dorsey, what in the hell is goin' on? You- Is that- The fuck are you wearin'? Put some clothes on, you're gonna fuckin' freeze. Here, take my jacket.
Dorsey:
I'm sorry. You weren't supposed to find out. Nobody was. Thanks, you didn't have to give that to me.
Reg:
Why are you apologizin'? Why are you doin' this? Can you talk to me? Yeah I did. You're gonna catch pneumonia.
Dorsey:
Because you just caught me stripping. Yeah, I... I'll talk to you. Because I need to; I need the money. My family needs the money. Well, it's warm inside.
Reg:
I don't know what ta say. If ya needed more help than what you're gettin' at the Gaslighter ya coulda....I dunno, asked me or somethin'. You don't need to be doin' this. Inside? Inside the gay club? I....I don't know what ta say.
Dorsey:
But then what about you? You've already done so much for me, I couldn't put you into the poorhouse like that. It's an every month thing, we need more every month. This was enough to get by, easy. I couldn't sell drugs, and that's about the only other thing that makes this kind of money. Are you mad at me? ...Do you think bad of me?
Reg:
What about me? Fuck that, this shit is different. I'm already in the poorhouse, but so fuckin' what? I coulda picked up more hours. It ain't like I got anything better ta do. And so what if I don't buy beer every fuckin' night? It's better than this. Here you are, out here, half naked, anybody could see ya, people just...In there fuckin'....Lookin' at ya like some kinda....Like they can do whatever if ya....Nah. Nope. Noooooooo. Get yer shit, we're leavin'. I ain't mad. I don't think bad. Let's just go.
Dorsey:
Reg...
Reg:
Yeah? I'm.... You're...You're holdin'...Okay. C'mon let's just go get- What....What the fuck is that on your shoulder?
Dorsey:
Yeah.. I am. It's okay. I'm right here. I know you're processing. We'll go get my stuff from the back and we'll go ho-- Oh. Well, I mean... I think...
Reg:
Why are you...That's- but I have...The color...It's...Is that a fuckin' soulmark?
Right where I had my....Where I tore my...
Dorsey:
Y-yeah... I know... Are you okay? Don't leave.
Reg:
How fuckin' long? How long? I don't...I don't fuckin'....I need a smoke. Holy shit. Holy fuckin' shit.
Dorsey:
A long time... Before you saved me, I got more when you saved me. You're not happy.
Reg:
C'mon. Let's get your shit and go.
Dorsey:
Okay. We can do that.
Reg:
You didn't have to do that.
Dorsey:
I didn't? You don't mind?
Reg:
Just...Don't ask questions. Just c'mon before....Before.
Dorsey:
Okay. I won't. It's okay, you know.
Reg:
Dorsey... Is it? I hope so. C'mon. There's somethin' I wanna show ya. [[TIMESKIP- BACK AT REG'S HOUSE]] Alright. We're here. You said back there I wasn't happy. It ain't that I ain't. I'm just in shock. I...
I'm sure I ain't gotta tell you.... ((He also leans forward and moves his hair to see the marks on his head))
Dorsey:
Reg... That's... It's.. [Dorsey reached up to touch his own head, fingers grazing across the scar that he saw mirrored on Reg's skull in a soulmark as he fought his eyes watering.] You're... and I'm... but I thought...
Reg:
I know. I know. I see you tryin' not ta cry. You wanna talk about it? You thought what? Say somethin'.
Dorsey:
I thought it was just me. I didn't think you were marked too. Do you... What do you think about all of this?
Reg:
Yeah. I mean I...Know. I thought....That's why I was....Yeah. I think...I mean I think a lotta shit. You're my soulmate. What do you think?
Dorsey:
That's why you were what? How long have you been marked? Do you wanna tell me what you think? Yeah, I am. And I'm yours. I'm happy, I think it's great. I hope you do too.
Reg:
That's why I was a lotta things. Helpin' ya. Lookin' out for ya. Hangin' around. Bein' nicer to ya than anyone else. Truth? Since the day I turned 18. I think...I think....I think we gotta figure out what to...I mean what we're.... You're mine. I am, yeah. I never thought...I thought I'd....Be alone.
Dorsey:
Reg... no... never. You will never be alone. I would never let that happen.
Reg:
Dorsey.....Do ya know how goddamned long I've waited to....Fuck it, c'mere. You're mine. You've always been mine. I've known it since the first time I saw ya..
Dorsey:
I knew too. From day one. Why did we wait so long? Now that I've kissed you, I already don't know how I lasted so long without. I'm yours, Reg. All yours. You're it for me. You always have been.
Reg:
You did? Why did we fuckin' wait then? No more. I don't....I don't wanna...Be apart from you. Anymore. I ain't mad at ya for doin' what ya had to but no more of that. Alright? We're gonna figure this out. I don't care what I gotta do. I don't want you goin' back there. You're mine. I'm yours.
Dorsey:
I don't know.. I was scared. I didn't want to lose what I had of you. It wasn't enough, but it was better than nothing. I got to see you smile. You saved my life... That was good enough for me. You don't want anyone but you looking at me like that? Because I don't either. I'll figure something else out, I'm yours.
Reg:
I know, I get it. I guess I...Was too. Scared. I didn't figure you'd....I mean, you're so fuckin' great and I'm just...Not. You're real fuckin' sweet. Real sweet. I always wondered what I'd do if you ever said this kinda shit to me. Now here we are and I can't...Make my brain work. I don't. Maybe that's wrong. Maybe it's selfish. But I don't care. Mine. Don't worry about it. I'll take care of it, I'll work extra shifts. I'll give you all the overtime. Whatever I gotta do to keep you right here.
Dorsey:
You have nothing to be scared of, ever. You're great too, you really are. You're smart, and funny, and loyal. Not to mention strong. You're okay, you're doing okay. It's okay. It's alright, it's not selfish. I don't care either. I'll keep my clothes on from now on, I promise. Actually, Andrew asked me earlier today if I wanted a side job with him. You don't have to do so much for me. You already saved my life.
Reg:
You don't either, Dor. Not ever. Not with me. I'll always be here to protect ya. To take care of ya. I won't let you down. I think you just described a Golden Retriever but, I know what you mean. And you're perfect. Thank you for not thinkin' so. I ain't crazy like that but I...I just don't think it's all that safe. He did? You didn't tell me. That's great, Dor. That's real fuckin' great. Are ya gonna take it? It ain't nothin', I'd do anything for you Dorsey. Don't ya know that by now? It ain't like you haven't saved mine every single fuckin' day since I saw ya.
Dorsey:
I believe you. I trust you. I've told you before that you make me feel safe, you always have. You're not a dog though. You're amazing. I remember sharing my school books with you in class, and giving you my worksheets so that you could write the questions down when there weren't enough print outs. Nobody wanted to give you a chance, but you were still so smart. I saw it. I see it. And I remember watching you play baseball, and loving life on the team. It's okay, you have nothing to worry about. I won't do it anymore. He did, yeah. He said he'd pay me $16 an hour for training and give me a $3 raise when I go to full time which is insane. I know, you're my angel. I have?
Reg:
That means so much, hearin' you say that. You know me, you know I ain't like this with anyone else. Never have been and never will be. You're special, you've always been special. Good. You feelin' safe is all I need. Safe. Happy. Loved. I'm not, thanks for noticin'. I remember too. I saw you then. I saw you. Always. You always took care of me. I tried ta take care of you too. Leavin' groceries on your door. Slipping cash into your locker ta make sure ya ate lunch for the week. Beatin' ass if anyone had anything but a positive word to say about ya. You're right, they didn't. I ain't shit, Dor, but you make me wanna be. You came to my games. I always thought maybe you were just thinkin' on tryin' out, or just really liked to show school spirit. I wish I'd known. He said that? Holy shit Dor that's fuckin' awesome. We gotta celebrate. And you're mine. You have. Do you know the kinda shit I'd be doin' if it weren't for you? I'd be behind bars, I can promise you that.

[PM]: Are things all cool, Dorsey? I know shit has been rough. If you need anything let me know I’ll do my best to help out. I know you’ve been working over at The Gaslighter. Are you needing extra income?
[PM:] You’re kind, thanks for asking. I’ve been holding things over pretty well, I think. We don’t have a ton of money and I’m still not sure if I’ll ever be able to move out, but we’ve got groceries most days. What did you have in mind? I’m always on the lookout.

Yeah, I guess. Dunno why you’d wanna but I ain’t got no say in how ya feel. I’ll be there. Chill. You will, huh? Just how ya plannin’ on doin’ that? Somethin’. I dunno yet. I’ll update ya when I figure it out. What kinda question is that? Both I guess. Is that a fact? Lots of dance moves, huh?
Because you’re cool. Because you’re interesting. Because I like being around you. Because you make me feel safe. For a lot of reasons. No you don’t, you’re right about that- I’ll feel how I feel, regardless. Cool, I’ll see you then. I will, yeah. I guess we’ll see. Okay, please do. I don’t know, the kind I was asking. Both is good. Definitely a fact. Yeah. I know a lot of dance moves. More than I think you’d guess. Are you teasing me?

You wanna see me? Alright, I guess I’ll head over. I’ll take your word for it. You won’t let me, huh? You’re somethin’, talkin’ big like that. I don’t dance. I wouldn’t know how.
Yeah, is that okay? I want to see you. Thanks, awesome. I’ll keep an eye out for you. I won’t, no. I’ll keep your mind off of that, I’ll make you too happy to want to fight. Something, huh? Something good? You don’t dance or you haven’t been given good enough motivation to try? I can show you how. I know all kinds of different dance moves.

You’re workin’ tonight huh? I guess I can do that. There ain’t a bunch of people over there though, is there? ‘Cause the mood I’m in, I might end up fightin’.
I am, yeah, and I’d like to see you. There isn’t, no. It’s a small town so there aren’t really a lot of people around to begin with. Saturday is our busiest night, tonight we’ve got less than a dozen. Don’t worry about that, I won’t let you get into a fight, it’s okay. It’ll just be me and you and a bar with some awesome music. Maybe I’ll get you to dance with me.

First a fuse blows at the concession bar, then three of the field lights blow out, then the shop vac starts steamin’ while I’m tryin’ to clean. Fuck everything about this night. If you need me, I’ll be at the bar.
Come to The Gaslighter instead. I’ll get you a drink.

PM: If ya say so. I dunno though. Oh, yeah uh….Right, I’ll get right on that. If you…Ain’t busy tonight, I ain’t. I mean, I get off in a few. I could bring snacks or whatever. If ya wanted. That sounds like a lotta shit. You know I ain’t smart like that. Like you are. It’d be chill, though, we can still hang and look. Oh. Yeah. I’ll try and keep that in mind then. Maybe I will. I guess. One day.
PM: I do. I say so. Thank you. I know it’s a lot, asking you to do stuff at all. I know I already get treated a lot better than anyone else. Thank you, I mean it. It means a lot to me. Can I see you? Like right now. I want to. You can bring snacks, if you want. I can sow you how to find Orion. And the North Star. I’ll bring more than one blanket out with me this time. One day, huh? Soon?

Anybody been over to that circus? I know it has been here for a bit but I may be looking to catch it before it packs up. Is it worth heading over or would I not be missing much?
I haven’t been yet, but that’s because I can barely afford toilet paper, circus time isn’t really on my budget. Let me know if you go though? I bet it’s fun, I’d love to hear about it.

I just cannot believe it is almost May, time has just been flying by. That means we are officially only about two months out from this year’s Pre-K graduation at Smile Time. I have lots to plan and put together but I look forward to it every year. I am still considering themes for this year though so if anyone has any suggestions, please do let me know.
Kids are great but also terrifying, so kudos on the job choice. This isn’t really my thing, so I can’t really help, but...

NAME: Dorsey Corcoran AGE: 27 GENDER/PRONOUNS: cis male he/him SEXUALITY: very gay OCCUPATION: dancer at The Gaslighter and secret stripper/escort LIFESTYLE: very poor, he lives with his mom and his older brother in the poor side of town - mama’s boy - spontaneous and sometimes erratic - still very innocent and naive though for someone in his position - he’s also does experience very high manic highs an very low depressive lows.
bio tws: domestic abuse and child abuse
Dorsey Corcoran is the younger brother of Eddie Corcoran and the son of Monica Corcoran and Richard Macklin. Dorsey's father would often beat him and Eddie on a daily basis, sometimes their mother wondered if it was because they weren’t his biological sons. Either way, she didn’t stop him or report him. She made excuses for him, even when he hit her. Macklin would frequently beat Eddie and Dorsey without warning, at one point throwing Eddie into a coat rack, causing him to urinate blood for a fortnight, all because he accidentally slammed the door. Dorsey got through by hiding on the roof a lot, and at first going up there was just to stay safe but eventually his mind grew a bond with the stars that allowed him to be up there for a second, happier reason that made his time on the roof happier, more pleasant, and easier to get through. He would sleep up here sometimes, not even his brother knew where he was. He was afraid to tell anyone about his secret hiding spot. He would have felt bad, but Ed took to sleeping in the park to get away from their stepfather, so Dorsey felt like he was safe.
Outside of the house, Dorsey did well in school. He got good grades and paid attention in class because he loved being out of his house. Anything that got him out was good, and he put his whole self into it. He answered questions in class, he helped others, he volunteered for extra work; anything that he could do, he did. In his free time, he focused on educating himself on the stars. One of his favorite things to do was sit on the roof under the stars, reading about the stars.
While at school, he saw someone else from the poor side of town, but he seemed to be struggling. His name was Reginald Hudson and Dorsey had seen him outside of school, but it was during school that they interacted the most. It started because Dorsey watched a teacher pass Reg up for school supplies, and when he had raised his hand to ask about it... the teacher flat out told him he wasn’t worth it and they had too few to hand one out to him. So Dorsey shared him. He was just so blanched, seeing someone not even give the guy a chance. And he kept seeing stuff like that happen; that was his introduction to Reginald Hudson, seeing the boy not being given a fair shot, being treated like he was stupid and never going to be anything but stupid. It wasn’t just teachers either, his peers talked to him like he was stupid too. Even when they were being respectful, they used small words and spoke slower. So Dorsey did his best to support him, to show him that he could do good things, and to make sure that he knew someone out there didn’t think of him as stupid. He was poor so he didn’t have much, but he gave Reg anything and everything that he could. And he stood up for him whenever he could, telling teachers that they needed to let Reg answer some questions, or that Reg had the right answer, etc. He’d go to see the other boy’s baseball games too, and he was always cheering in the stands, even if it meant he got in trouble for coming home late. It was always worth it to him to support Reg, even if he was still drifting along the outskirts of the other’s life. Reginald Hudson was part of a gang, as Dorsey found out later, and that meant that he was very hard to approach. Impossible, even. Dorsey didn’t want to get bullied, and he didn’t think Reg would on his own... but his gang might.
After he graduated high school, it became clear to him very quickly that he was going to need to get a job to help support his house. He was not able to move out, because he didn’t have enough money to funnel into his own home, especially while he was putting all of his money in the Corcoran family home. He worked at the Derby, skating through the seasons, but the pay wasn’t enough and he didn’t have that much free time--- he needed to be home because of his stepfather. So he moved onto dancing nights at The Gaslighter. He got better tips that way, and he earned more nightly there than he did as a waiter. It was a client at The Gaslighter that asked him if he’d consider working at a gay club, which was how he ended up becoming a stripper. The guy wanted to see more of him, and he did get the opportunity after Dorsey took on his new job. Now he finally had enough money coming in to really help his family out. He’s still a virgin, though, he hasn’t had full on sex even with clients-- he doesn’t do private rooms outside of the club because he won’t put himself in a position where a client might push him further than he wants to go; at the club, a bouncer is right there and the club he works for takes care of their dancers.
One year, Richard brutally beat Dorsey with his recoilless hammer, going as far as almost killing him. Dorsey himself doesn’t remember all of this attack due to the trauma and brain injury he incurred, but Reginald will never forget it. He just happened to be walking by the house when the first hit came and Dorsey screamed. Reg didn’t wait for a second scream, he pushed his way through the front door and into the house and saved Dorsey’s life right as the other boy passed out on the floor in a pool of his own blood. With Reg’s help, the stepfather was arrested, Dorsey was taken to the hospital, and the Corcoran family was able to move on. During the trial, his father had eventually broken down and confessed to wanting to kill his younger son, and that he would have done so if he hadn’t been stopped. When the court had questioned what Dorsey's last words were before he passed out, Macklin stated "Stop it, Daddy I'm sorry, I love you." He said he would never forget that, because they could have been Dorsey’s last words forever. Because this is a small town and because there was a full trial, all of Snowbury probably knows about what happened.
After that, Dorsey had to take time off from work as a whole. He had brain damage and needed to go to physical therapy; he’s still in physical therapy. There was a chance that things could have gone much worse, but luckily for Dorsey he healed well and hasn’t lost any mobility or communication. He does have problems with memory sometimes, so now he writes a lot of lists to make sure that he doesn’t forget anything. He still lives with his mom and his brother.

PM: Hey. You need more than one blanket, fucker. You’re gonna freeze. Maybe I could. Dunno. Have to check my schedule. I ain’t never really looked at the stars. Maybe you’ll teach me a thing or two, since you like ‘em so damn much. Fun’s good. Me? Not my scene. Congrats if its yours though. I couldn’t stand all’a that paint on me. Yeah. Ya probably wouldn’t see me. If I was there, which I wasn’t, but if I was, I wouldn’t wanna bother ya.
PM: Hey, hey, it’s okay. I’m okay. Can we not call me “fucker?” I know you don’t mean it to be mean. You call everyone that, even your crew. I don’t really like it though. Okay, check your schedule. You know where to find me. I can take you up on my roof, it’s private up there. Comfortable. I can teach you about them, yeah. I can show you how to find certain stars and constellations, I can show you how to read a star map, and I can tell you a bunch of random facts. And myths, like star mythology. Horoscopes are based on some of them. I do like them. Oh, okay. Well, if you want to show up sometime, you won’t be bothering me if you come up and say hello. I promise. You never bother me.
