The fundamental tragedy of Stolitz is that, at least at the outset, both partners need the exact opposite thing to feel secure in the relationship.

Stolas needs Blitzo to stay with him absent any obligation to do so, because his entire life is founded on forces beyond his control dictating his every moment. This is why he tries to dissolve their arrangement.

Blitzo, on the other hand, constantly pushes everyone away because he thinks he isn't deserving of actual love. However, he still actually seeks it out, almost aggressively, because he wants someone to stay with him despite his unworthiness. The arrangement is almost a safety net for him, because it's a guarantee that Stolas won't leave him just for being him.

Just a quick Stolitz painting that I did. I'm not 100% happy with it, but well, sometimes you just have the need to paint and you're gotta do something about it.
