It has almost come to the point where I need to see my ex friend who I haven't spoken to in a year and 8 months at a mutual friends bachelor party. Not completely sure how to handle it. I'm feeling like singing "you're so vain" at karaoke is probably not a very mature urge even though it's a really good song and right in my vocal range. Definitely probably not going to do that. Luckily I'm not very good at singing "go your own way" so that one is probably not going to come up either.

i am sorry that my posts are acronym jargon filled. in my defense (this is a terrible excuse) i am an engineer and spend 30% of my day typing sentences that are nearly entirely composed of incomprehensible acronym strings. i was born to abbreviate

Ironically I am moved off the project launching next month and onto the project that is all but cancelled in the proposed budget...

cant stop thinking about the senselessness of resource overextraction and industrial overproduction. advertising is a science that exists to trick people into overconsuming. to take natural human instincts and use them against you to trick you into thinking you want or need things that you don't. so you have all these babies born, being molded into these nasty little greedy selfish monsters, because that's who wants to buy things the most. and so all the rare minerals get taken out of the ground to make things for these nasty pseudo-socialized former-humans that were essentially forced to be that way-- youll admit at least there's a strong everpresent element of coercion, and when something like that is present, I don't think you blame every failing individual, because most of them will fail. So all these nasty former-people with bad taste, tricked into wanting these shitty ugly goods that aren't even useful or interesting, and even the Homo Consoomus doesnt want a lot of this shit anymore. its all shit and slop and it sucks. so you have these precious resources being extinguished: life, minerals, water, oxygen, attention, love. to create this sorry consumer society that only creates junk. junk products and junk people. everyone raised on eating shit their whole life. the immensity of it will really fuck you up when you really take it in and think about it. like, the sheer amount of waste. to put it in a term theyd understand, the opportunity cost. it was such a beautiful world. people could have been so much more. humans have problems but they didn't have to be this. but even an idiot could tell you its over now

I am constantly asking my husband if he really has to let it linger and he never gets the joke no matter how many times I show him the song which makes it funnier so I do it more. He texted me asking if I wanted coffee and I replied that he has me wrapped around his finger and again, he did not get the joke. Endless entertainment.

Someone also submitted a talk about Aurora sightings in India which is at least about the sun. It sounds really cool but again this is an open source session and you have nothing open source.

Now why did my open source session at a heliophysics conference get an abstract for a presentation about lunar regolith. It doesn't even say the model is open source!

When I was at the lake peacefully painting an annoying group came and sat near us. Multiple moms were just hassling their 8 year old kids so much ("don't slip on the rocks! Don't go too deep! Come back here!") which was really annoying but also one of the kids was named Gentry which a. Unfortunately game of thrones and b. Really bad name in general and every time she shouted at Gentry I chuckled
