Lumi and the Great Big Galaxy - General Ebonhide

Once again, I've got another OC for the indie project that captured my heart. And this time, it's a real no-nonsense nemesis to our heroes. Imagine if someone mashed a couple versions of Megatron with a prehistoric fish, and you have the right idea.

In truth, General Ebonhide hails from the planet of Botanica, albeit back when it was an oceanic paradise. His kind, the Daevonians, flourished in the waters while the land-dwelling Florians mostly left them alone. Ebonhide was particularly talented in the field of combat, and became their general for the sake of protecting their home. But then the neighboring Florian kingdom figured out the key to everlasting life...by draining said oceans to make way for their own paradise. As the royal plants prospered, Ebonhide could only watch as his kind slowly died out, ignored and forgotten by the wealthy royals. It has warped his perception of things, instilling in him a philosophy that the only way to live is to be without mercy. Now, he's been spending the last few decades haunting the galaxy, getting stronger and seeking to build himself an army to visit retribution on the beings who wronged him. As of recently, he's become the leader to a small cabal of bounty hunters. Not the most dignified army, but it might prove to be more than enough when word of a living wishing star gets around...

As one might guess, General Ebonhide is a major villain to the main six. His single-minded desire to make the Florian royalty pay has in particular made him a major source of conflict for poor Felicity. The idea that her family had a hand in taking so much to the point of creating a monster like Ebonhide is...more than a little hard to comprehend. The rest don't like him because he's a scary bad guy out to get Lumi for his own ends. As for Ebonhide, he sees the five teens as mere annoyances and Lumi as the means to an end.

Ideally, his VA would be Hugo Weaving, and his theme music would be "Sins of Liberty" by Brandon Yates (though "Ruthlessness" from Epic: The Musical works as well).

It's all wrong. By rights, we shouldn't even be here, but we are. It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo. The ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because how could the end be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. Even darkness must pass. A new day will come, and when the sun shines, it will shine out the clearer. Those were the stories that stayed with you, that meant something even if you were too small to understand why. But I think, Mr. Frodo, I do understand. I know now.

I saw that comment you left on the recent episode of SMG4. Any "commentary" it made on being an artist in today's climate is only secondary to what the episode is actually setting up. And since you aren't seeing my replies there, I'm going to have to ask you this way instead...

When is Axol coming back? They wouldn't bring Wolfychu back to voice Melony if she didn't have some important story coming up, and an Axol return is the only one they CAN do with her.

The only thing the episode is "setting up" is Melony focusing on her manga career and by extension continuing Axol's legacy. I asked Luke if it'd be possible for Wolfychu to reprise her role because she'd only been voiced using clips since 2022, and I thought it would only be right to have her return in an episode focused on her.

I believe there's a lot to Melony's character that has the potential to be explored, and this, being the first episode I pitched, was my attempt to do so.

Axol is not coming back, because I don't have the power to bring him back. It's not up to me, and even if it was, I wouldn't reverse a character death years after he'd already been confirmed to be dead. I don't believe an Axol return is the only one they can do with her- to me, there is never simply ONE route of where you can go or what you can do with a character. That's the fun in writing, there's never one way to go about things!

I'm sorry if this answer may be disappointing to you, but as I've told many others when it comes to my job- I'm just the writer.

Hello, I hope you’re having a lovely day right now! I recently watched the pilot for latgbg(which was really good! I cannot credit you & your team enough for the incredible hardwork & creativity in this project), & since I didn’t see this on the list of ground rules, I wanted to ask about it myself. I’m thinking of starting a little series where I review various shows & movies & deconstruct them from a writing standpoint, pointing out what I do & don’t think works, as well as just giving out general criticism. I was planning to start off the series with a review of your project, but I would like to know beforehand if you are comfortable with/open to receiving criticism.
