there's this podcast, Myths & Legends, and I was re-listening to the Monkey King from Chinese folklore/Journey to the West episodes

after Sun Wukong, the Monkey King himself, is freed from a long imprisonment (for nearly overthrowing the gods, nothing much), he has to guard the Tang monk on his long pilgrimage, in order to redeem himself. and the way he alternates between absolute enthusiasm and disobedience, the way he resorts so easily to violence but is protective of those he perceives as his... and the way the podcaster read some of his dialogue, like "I'll get it for you, Master!"

long story short, I need a Monkey King!Anakin AU. Obi-Wan would be the Tang monk, obviously

The Star Wars Fic Reference Wiki is intended as a way for fic writers and other fanwork creators to easily look up pertinent information without having to slog through dense paragraphs or comb through categories with dozens or even hundreds of entries with few indicators of what the pages are. Do you want lists? Do you want tables? Do you want easily digestible bullet points? We've got 'em!

a dragon rider with a psychic link to their dragon is nothing new in fantasy, but I recently heard about the delightful use of if in Fourth Wing, which is that the two dragons are bonded and can't spend too long apart from each other.

and when they bone they forget to shield, so their riders are unbearably horny for each other as a result.

okay but what about a plot in which Anakin takes the fall for Palpatine because he doesn't want the Republic to fall into chaos from the discovery of treachery at such high level - yeah this is not the plot of Nimona either, but it was inspired by it, by the idea of Bal still wanting to protect the institutions that betrayed him.

and he doesn't tell anyone, not even Obi-Wan, and makes it look like he masterminded a coup and killed Palps, but then he also goes and kills the Separatist leadership and resigns himself to a life of solitude while at least the Republic can recover, but of course Obi-Wan followed him and they fight and idk, it's not a very well-developed plot

codywan meetcute in a laundromat. Cody needs the giant washing machines for, say, washing a ton of tablecloths from his restaurant (please think about Cody cooking, pouring his heart into making even the simple recipes, or coming up with creative stuff. isn't that delightful? now think about Obi-Wan cooking. the horrors.)

Obi-Wan teaches at a university - crucially, he's not a professor, and he has a fraught relationship with his family. Dooku is the rich grandpa who constantly holds the threat of disinheriting him over his head - and worse the threat of withdrawing his approval, his affection. and Obi-Wan is already on thin ice for pursuing some "liberal arts bullshit" as Grandpa puts it. so when his washing machine breaks and he has no money to fix it, he's not going to ask for help.

their schedules somehow align - Cody is there late after closing, Obi-Wan is a night owl, it's not very busy and they keep seeing each other. one day Obi-Wan is tired and drops the stack of papers he's grading, and while Cody helps him pick them up, he notices -

"Anna Kamieńska?" Cody asks, a spark of recognition in his eyes, "The poet is a great mute," he quotes wistfully, then looks sheepishly away. "Sorry, I didn't mean to pry into your business."

and Obi-Wan is in love and they can be nerds about dead Polish poets together. Obi-Wan will finally eat a warm meal and a vegetable, Cody will be forced to take a day off and not work himself to death, and they move in together and buy a new washing machine.

(also Obi-Wan finally comes out to Grandpa Dooku and tells him to get off his case. Cody was already out to his brothers, but he has to endure the mortifying ordeal of introducing Obi-Wan to Rex, who owns a gym and no brain-to-mouth filter. it still goes better than with a teenage Boba.)

okay but imagine Boba starting to speak Mando’a to Din as soon as they are alone together (he didn’t want to be rude to Fennec before/they all were in a hurry and it was easier to go with the more common language)

and they absolutely do not understand each other, because Boba speaks an older Concord Dawn dialect he learned from his father, while Din speaks the weirdest insular variant of Mando’a that only his covert used

and then they start learning similarities and differences in their Mando’a and learn how to communicate and develop their own familial language

Codywan Knives Out AU of sorts, in which Cody is Benoit Blanc and Obi-Wan is... not Marta, but has her part in the plot. Dooku is a seemingly kind grandpa who likes puzzles and mysteries but is actually evil, Qui-Gon is Meg (no, I won’t elaborate), and Yoda is the actual dead grandpa. And Anakin is Ransom minus the classism.

Instead of being unable to lie (because AUs are fine, but Obi-Wan being unable to lie is a bridge too far, not believable) like Marta, Obi-Wan has made a vow never to lie again because [insert backstory here]. So he sometimes stonewalls Detective Cody and just straight up does not answer his questions, if he can’t be truthful.

The sexual and romantic tension grows throughout the investigation, the story still ends like in the film, but there’s an epilogue in which the detective goes back to the house to check on Obi-Wan... and they fuck on every single surface and live happily ever after, the end.

hey has anyone considered this extremely fucked up idea: someone (doesn’t matter who, but it can’t be a clone, or likely anyone who works with them on the regular) finds out about the chips, the plans for order 66 and who Palps really is. so. because they don’t even know if the chips can be removed, or if the orders can be reversed once activated, or because they have to make a choice quickly due to time constraints: they activate the chips, but with a different order. the clones still lose their free will, but aren’t used as tools of genocide.

Palpatine is shot dead, the empire never starts, the Jedi are mostly alive, the war ends. they eventually figure out that the chips can be safely removed, but now all the clones are a lot more traumatised and most of them will never trust a natborn ever again.

…to be fair the clones already always get the short end of the stick and this is unnecessarily cruel, but in my defence I am a poor european meow meow experiencing extreme heat (and not in the fun omegaverse sense) without air conditioning and I might be going a little feral

Canon divergence in which Obi-Wan “dies” on Mustafar and Cody’s chip malfunctions. Cody kinda takes on Obi-Wan’s role, he takes Luke to Tatooine and watches over him. some of the Reva plot still happens, maybe she just senses something when the Inquisitors are on Tatooine looking for Nari, so this time it’s Owen, Beru and Cody protecting Luke. Reva still stops, and rejects the dark side. She goes on her own journey, but occasionally goes back to check in on them.

One day, another figure with a red lightsaber shows up at the Lars homestead. But this time, it’s Obi-Wan.

This is 100% an excuse for a fight between Obi-Wan, and Cody and Reva, who really need to stop him, but would kinda like to maybe not kill him. Cody for codywan personal reasons, Reva because she has been there. Obi-Wan is completely out of it, feral doesn’t even begin to cover it, he’s not a Sith, he’s not brainwashed, he’s just wild with pain and exposure to the worse the Dark Side has to offer, he’s been tortured for years because he wouldn’t break, and in the end he didn’t, he just... lost himself completely.

And then I would like 100k of Obi-Wan slowly coming back to himself. The first 50k Cody and Reva have him straight up tied to a chair and Force-suppressed, because he is extremely volatile, and not even in a “will cleverly try to run away” sense, but more like “he’d blow up the entire house and himself with it just because” sense. Maybe Reva goes and finds Quinlan, brings him to Tatooine, shows him Obi-Wan and goes: “fix him”, because deep down she still thinks the Jedi Masters of her childhood can fix everything. She also goes on adventures on her own, as a B plot and because she deserves a break from my Obi-Wan whump.

Obikin researchers AU. 

Anakin and Obi-Wan meet at university, they are both working on their PhDs - Anakin is the young genius, Obi-Wan is coming back to academia after years working outside. They end up collaborating, becoming friends, then getting together.

And then having the most explosive breakup ever witnessed (probably featuring actual explosions, if they’re working with anything chemical or heavy machinery of any sort. tbh the research part is the barest excuse for a plot, so I don’t know what they’re studying)

They are still working within the same field. At the beginning, they can completely ignore each other. After all, they’re at the start of their careers, neither has published a lot... yet. Maybe their research focus even diverges for a while.

But then. They start having to cite each other in papers. 

(or something something with Anakin/Darth Vader... Anakin changes his name for whatever reason? so Obi-Wan keeps disagreeing with this one researcher, dunking on everything form his methodology to his finds, without knowing that’s actually his ex)

And then they meet again at a conference and by the time the second panel of the day is about to start, they’re already angry fucking in the bathrooms.

inspired by two shops I saw today, a tailor and flower shop. the florist had tons of plants on the sidewalk, spilling all the way to the next shop window, the tailor’s shop. 

so. florist!Obi-Wan/tailor!Cody. Obi-Wan buys the shop next to Cody’s (the shop was his father’s, and they’ve been there forever). on the first day, Cody nearly trips on one of the vases and goes to complain. only… he sees Obi-Wan and his brain bluescreens, because that man is too pretty. they eventually do start talking, though Obi-Wan thinks Cody hates him. in truth, Cody has allergies and every time he goes into Obi-Wan’s shop he’s holding in a sneeze or just trying to breathe. he’s not grumpy! (except when he is, because Obi-Wan’s inability to dress himself in anything but beiges and browns is Cody’s nightmare. he has literal dreams about sewing the man pretty clothes. he suffers.)

of course there will be tiny baby Boba making mischief, a Suspicious And Unspecified Amount of Brothers and Cousins (one time Anakin asked Jango how many kids he has. Jango said: “it’s classified” and to this day Anakin doesn’t know if he was serious), Ahsoka the emotionally intelligent teenager and Anakin being the annoying yet kinda charming younger b( r )other to Obi-Wan, as in any respectable modern AU
