The Sardar Vallabhbhai Statue, popularly known as the Statue of Unity, is from the Gujarati city of Narmada, which is close to the small island of Sadhu Bet. Inaugurated on 31st October 2018, the Statue of Unity height is approximately 182 meters. This spectacular and astounding colossal structure was inaugurated by our honorable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi on Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel’s 143rd birth anniversary. During its fast 46-month construction, this popular tourist site in Gujarat reportedly employed some 3000 workers and 250 engineers. The statue is roughly 30 m taller than the Spring Temple Buddha of China and is twice the size of the Statue of Liberty. Additionally, this symbolic structure can withstand winds up to 60 meters per second. The Statue of Unity is conveniently located near several of Gujarat's largest cities, including Vadodara, Surat, and Ahmedabad.
The Vision Behind the Statue:
The Statue of Unity was intended to commemorate Vallabhbhai Patel's outstanding services to the country. Patel played a pivotal role in unifying India's diverse princely states after independence, ensuring a united and sovereign nation. The statue symbolizes unity, strength, and Patel's unwavering determination.
A Marvel of Engineering:
The Statue of Unity is an engineering marvel that stands tall at a staggering height of 182 meters (597 feet), making it the tallest statue in the world.  It took years of careful planning and execution and was created by renowned Indian sculptor Ram V. Sutar. The statue's majesty is increased by its strategic placement on the island of Sadhu Bet, which is bordered by the magnificent Narmada River and a lovely setting.
To raise money, a number of events, including the Run for Unity, were held. Larsen and Toubro won the bid for the construction in 2014 and under the supervision of a consortium formed by Meinhardt Group, Turner Construction and Michael Graves and Associates the project began. Several locals and tribes from the Tadvi tribe, Limdi and Kevadia opposed the development. However, despite the opposition, the project took shape and finally, on Sardar Patel’s 143rd birthday in 2018, Modiji inaugurated the mighty Statue of Unity. It is not only a dedication to the Iron Man of India but is an icon of India’s engineering and technical capabilities.
Imposing Architecture:
The architecture of the Statue of Unity is a harmonious blend of modern design and traditional craftsmanship. The statue depicts Vallabhbhai Patel wearing a traditional dhoti and shawl, exuding grace and dignity.  Its smooth bronze-clad exterior reflects a radiant glow, especially during sunrise and sunset, captivating visitors with its splendor.
Symbol of National Pride:
The Statue of Unity stands as a symbol of national pride and unity. It acts as a reminder of the hardships endured by the freedom fighters and the principles they upheld during India's war for independence. The statue has become a pilgrimage site for many, evoking a sense of patriotism and reverence for the nation's heroes.
The Statue of Unity at Kevadia has been made using 130 tonnes of scrap iron gathered from over 100 million farmers residing across 169,000 Indian villages.
Speaking of electric vehicles, local women drive the majority of the vehicles at the Statue of Unity. This is a part of the effort to give the residents in the Kevadia area training and skills.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel: The Iron Man of India and His Monument of Unity
Tumblr media
My only wish is for India to be a good producer and for there to be no hunger or crying over food in the nation. Once in a generation there comes an intellectual leader and visionary, who aims for the skies while feet firmly on the ground, mind made of diamond and fists made of iron, whose passion and sharp mind sculpted today’s India. This is the Life Story of Sardar Patel narrated with the help of stamps and coins issued by the Government of India.
He was born on October 31, 1875, in (Nadiad), Gujarat. He led a modest life and possessed excellent diplomatic abilities. By profession, he was a lawyer but when he met Mahatma Gandhi he gave up his profession and took part in the Indian struggle for Independence. As he rose to fame and influence as a lawyer at Ahmedabad, Patel was elected one of the city’s Municipal Commissioners in 1915. It was about this time that he made his acquaintance with Mahatma Gandhi, which was a fateful event of his great career. Modern Indian history is incomplete without Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. In Independent India, his ideas, efforts, and ideals were truly extraordinary.

About Sardar Vallabhbhai patel
Tumblr media
Introduction:
In the annals of Indian history, there are few leaders who left an indelible mark on the nation's destiny. One such luminary was Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a stalwart figure who played a pivotal role in India's struggle for independence and subsequent integration of the nation. Often hailed as the "Iron Man of India," Patel's unwavering determination, strategic acumen, and deep-rooted patriotism continue to inspire generations. This blog post explores the life and contributions of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, a true visionary and nation-builder.
Early Life and Education:
Vallabhbhai Patel was born on October 31, 1875, into a lowly farming family in the Gujarati village of Nadiad. He struggled with money, but he showed remarkable intellectual ability and finished his primary education in Karamsad.  Patel later pursued his higher studies in law at the Inns of Court in London, England. His exposure to western political philosophies during his time in London played a pivotal role in shaping his ideological framework and fervent commitment to justice and freedom.
Role in India's Independence Struggle:
After returning to India, Patel joined the Mahatma Gandhi-led freedom movement and quickly rose to become one of its most important leaders. He demonstrated his remarkable organizing skills during the Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928, where he rallied thousands of peasants against unjust land taxation policies. Patel's rise to national prominence as a result of this campaign gave him the title "Sardar," which means leader or chief.
Patel's most significant contribution came during the tumultuous period of India's partition in 1947. As the first Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Home Affairs, he spearheaded the integration of princely states, ensuring that the fragmented territories would unite to form the sovereign nation of India. Patel persuaded more than 500 princely states to join India via tenacious diplomacy and talks, including the powerful nations of Hyderabad, Junagadh, and Jammu & Kashmir. His exceptional foresight and persuasiveness stopped India from becoming a nation of innumerable little states.
Legacy of Unity and Nation-Building:
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's efforts to forge a united India earned him the title of the "Iron Man."  Recognizing the importance of a cohesive nation, Patel played a pivotal role in the drafting of the Indian Constitution, where he advocated for a strong center to maintain the integrity of the country while respecting regional diversity.  His emphasis on unity, secularism, and a strong administrative framework laid the foundation for India's progress as a democratic republic.
Patel's contributions extend beyond politics. He was instrumental in establishing institutions like the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) and the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), which have played a crucial role in nation-building and governance to this day. His dedication to public service and unwavering commitment to the welfare of the people have made him an iconic figure in Indian history.
Conclusion:
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's legacy as the "Iron Man of India" continues to inspire generations. His immense contributions to India's struggle for independence, the integration of princely states, and his nation-building efforts highlight his unparalleled leadership and unwavering commitment to the cause of a united, strong, and prosperous India. As we consider Patel's life and contributions, we are reminded of the value of cooperation, tenacity, and the influence of group action in determining a nation's future. His ideals and principles will forever guide us on the path of progress, equality, and unity, and his name will remain etched in the annals of Indian history as a true visionary and nation-builder.
