    she’s found herself making her way to the outdoor lounge after a feeling of cabin fever began to take over her. sunshine had been abandoned from her day since she’d spent the day inside the confines of her apartment happily hiding away from the outside world. now, she ventured out to enjoy the last bits of vitamin c the rays could provide before the sun completely hid for the night. “both such stables.” she mused, words punctuated with a gentle smile as she let her hues drop to where his fingers strummed against the guitar strings. she’d tried guitar when she was a child - somewhere between gymnastics and karate and much like all everything else the interest didn’t stick. “add kum ba yah and you have the perfect trio.” 

 it  was  almost  odd  to  see  her  outside  of  meeting  on  the  roof  late  at  night.  it  wasn’t  unwelcome  ,  of  course  ,  just  different.  ❛  i  know  ,  i  know  !  such  a  hard  decision.  ❜  he  continues  to  strum  softly  ,  listening  to  her  words  and  changing  the  chords  to  match  the  song  she  had  suggested.  ❛  we  are  by  a  fire.  it  seems  very  fitting.  although  ,  wonderwall  feels  like  the  odd  man  out  now.  what’s  another  campfire  song  that  would  be  a  good  addition  ?  ❜  he’s  convinced  this  is  the  most  they’ve  actually  every  spoken  to  each  other  ,  but  he’s  not  sure  how  truth  that  was.  most  of  the  time  it  was  just  him  strumming  his  guitar  ,  so  this  was  just  about  the  same  just  with  some  more  words  and  a  different  location.

AN  AMUSED  LAUGH  escaped  her  plump  lips  ,  bianca  liked  to  think  that  she  had  many  talents  but  music  wasn't  one  of  them  .  her  musical  taste  was  based  on  the  hottest  songs  in  the  club  and  boy  bands that  marked  her  teenage  years  .   ❛  banging  ,  uh  ?  ❜  she  raised  her  eyebrow  ,  intrigued  .   ❛  now  you  have  to  show  me  .  and  if  it  knock  me  off  my  feet ,  you  can  choose  what  to  do  next .  ❜

 ❛  yup  ,  absolutely.  ❜  despite  his  passion  for  music  ,  sterling  found  it  very  easy  to  joke  around  about  what  he  knew.  it  wasn’t  exactly  downplaying  his  actual  talent  ,  but  it  made  it  easier  for  him  to  socialize.  ❛  okay  ,  but  if  people  start  wishing  you  a  happy  birthday  ,  that’s  on  you.  ❜  as  agreed  ,  sterling  plays  his  acoustic  ,  relatively  played  up  version  of  happy  birthday  ,  and  is  surpirsed  he  gets  through  the  short  song  without  laughing.

❛  while  that  sounds  fascinating  ,  kinda  ,  i  don’t  think  i  could  handle  any  kind  of  metal  or  death  metal  music  ,  ❜  she  laughs  lightly  ,  scrunching  her  nose  at  the  idea.  ❛  some  people  think  disney  and  love  songs  are  cheesy  ,  you  know  ?  but  ed  sheeran’s  got  some  of  the  best  though.  well  ,  mostly  just  thinking  out  loud.  ❜  her  lips  fall  into  a  pout  and  she  looks  at  him  with  furrowed  brows.  ❛  it’s  okay  ,  i  don’t  think  karaoke  is  for  everyone.  but  i  think  if  you  purposely  do  it  badly  ,  it’s  kind  of  more  fun.  but  i’m  not  sure  you  should  take  my  word  for  it  ,  i’ve  mostly  just  done  carpool  karaokes  with  nate.  ❜

“ I’M A DRAMATIC PERSON. ” momo sticks her tongue out at him, before crossing her legs. “ figured as much. —the joke part, i mean. your voice is probably gorgeous and you’re just being all cute and bashful. ” she tells sterling, a wide grin appearing on her face. leaning back into her seat, she sighs dramatically. “ it just derails so fast. —i think patrick yelling in the background trying to keep up is the the thing that makes me the most tense. ” is she joking ?? is she being real ?? it’s hard to say, but she still continues, “ it’s like, he’s trying his best but his best is just not good enough. ”

 ❛  you  ,  dramatic  ?  that  seems  unrealistic.  ❜  he  teases  softly  ,  a  gentle  smile  pulling  across  his  lips.  ❛  so  you  think  i’m  cute  ,  huh  ?  ❜  is  that  all  he  got  from  what  momo  said  ?  no.  but  is  that  what  he  was  going  to  focus  on  ?  absolutely.  in  truth  ,  regardless  of  his  success  ,  sterling  was  always  going  to  be  a  bit  shy  about  his  music.  he  always  thought  he  could  do  better.  ❛  you  know  ,  i  saw  this  tiktok  about  how  they  were  originally  going  to  be  having  him  yell  something  different  in  the  background  instead  of  him  trying  to  sing  along  with  the  song.  ❜  why  did  he  know  that  ?  unimportant.  ❛  i  mean  ,  i  feel  like  that  consistently  so  what’s  the  difference  ?  he  tried  his  best  and  that’s  all  that  matters.  ❜

going out for fresh air, maren wanted nothing more than to clear his head, tired after another day of working alongside his estranged father. at the sound of strumming, he took a deep breath, sighing his troubles away. sitting down next to the other, stretching out his limbs. he turns to the other, eyebrow raised, “shit, those are some classics. i’m a little biased towards wonderwall. but how about uh, allstar by smash mouth? can you do that?”

 he  lets  out  a  soft  laugh  ,  nodding  his  head.  ❛  why  am  i  not  surprised  ?  ❜  head  turns  towards  the  other  before  fingers  start  to  strum  a  slower  ,  acoustic  version  of  all  star  on  his  guitar.  ❛  when  i  first  started  my  youtube  i  posted  a  cover  of  this  song  and  someone  commented  and  said  they  want  me  to  play  it  at  their  funeral.  i  should’ve  just  quit  while  i  was  ahead  ,  huh  ?  ❜

it  wasn’t  that  she  actively  thought  about  her  music  selection  ,  primarily  because  the  only  person  who  really  had  to  put  up  with  it  was  nate.  but  she’d  received  the  odd  youtube  comment  about  her  disney  princess  /  love  song  collection  that  almost  made  her  a  bit  self  conscious  about  it  with  people  other  than  nate.  ❛  uh  ,  lots  of  love  songs  and  ,  uh  ,  disney  music  ❜  her  gaze  drops  to  her  feet  as  she  speaks  ,  as  if  that’ll  stop  the  judgement  she’s  expecting.  ❛  you  know  ,  i  don’t  actually  think  i  have  a  go  to  karaoke  song  ,  but  that’s  a  good  one.  ❜

BIANCA  COULDN’T  STAY  too  long  in  her  apartment  ,  if  she  wasn’t  busy  working  she  was  lost  in  the  city  in  some  club  or  in  someone's  bed  .  she  needed  to  be  always  on  the  move  ,  surrounded  by  people  or  at  least  with  her  head  busy  .  but  that  night  she  was  alone  ,  her  roommates  were  m.i.a.  and  her  work  was  done  .  walking  around  the  complex  seemed  like  a  good  idea  ,  watching  the  night  come  or  finding  another  lost  soul  to  keep  her  company  .  lost  in  the  sound  of  the  guitar  ,  the  brunette  took  a  long  time  to  comprehend  the  other's  question  .   ❛  i’ve  never  watched  spongebob  and  i  don’t  really  like  wonderwall  ,  so  what  else  do  you  have  for  me  ?  ❜  

 waits  patiently  for  the  answer  ,  not  like  he’s  in  any  kind  of  hurry  to  play  a  song  for  someone.  mainly  ,  it  had  been  a  nonsensical  joke  ,  but  he  never  minded  playing  his  guitar.  it  had  always  been  his  shield.    ❛  huh  ,  tough  crowd.  ❜    lets  out  a  soft  laugh  ,  shaking  his  head.  fingers  drum  on  the  base  of  the  instrument  ,  expression  as  if  he’s  thinking  really  hard  about  his  next  words.    ❛  i  do  a  pretty  banging  happy  birthday.  ❜    voice  is  totally  serious  ,  eyes  glancing  over  to  the  other  who  sat  down  next  to  him.    ❛  or.  you  can  pick  ,  or  we  can  sit  in  silence.  doesn’t  really  matter  to  me.  ❜

she  didn’t  really  have  a  clear  intent  on  going  to  the  outdoor  lounge  ,  but  it  was  a  nice  change  of  scenery  from  the  apartment.  and  des  is  pleasantly  surprised  to  find  sterling  out  there  with  his  guitar  ,  leaning  on  the  furniture  as  she  eyes  his  guitar  silently.  ❛  i’m  not  so  sure  you’d  know  or  wanna  play  the  music  i  listen  to.  ❜  she  shrugs  sheepishly.  ❛  but  wonderwall’s  a  good  one.  so  long  as  you’re  not  tired  of  playing  it  too  much.  ❜

 it  wasn’t  uncommon  at  all  to  find  sterling  with  his  guitar.  it  was  actually  more  common  to  find  him  with  it.  it  was  almost  like  a  shield  ,  a  comfort.  if  he  had  his  guitar  ,  it  was  easier  to  talk  to  people.  easier  to  avoid  having  conversations.  in  this  case  ,  however  ,  it  wasn’t  has  hard  to  have  a  conversation.  lets  out  a  soft  laugh  ,  shaking  his  head.  ❛  what  do  you  listen  to  that  could  be  that  outrageous  that  i  wouldn’t  want  to  even  listen  to  it  ?  ❜    asks  curiously  ,  fingers  strumming  at  his  guitar.    ❛  you  know  ,  it  is  my  go  -  to  karaoke  song.  ❜    as  if  sterling  would  actually  do  karaoke.

HONESTLY, SHE SHOULD BE DOING something productive, like cleaning the monstrosity that is her room, or.. yeah, just that. but instead, momo perches herself near sterling on a lounge chair, long legs sprawling out to make herself comfortable. “ no freebird ?? my disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined, ” though, it doesn’t really sound true, fingers pushing her sunglasses back up the bridge of her nose. she shoots him a playful smile, hands folding and resting on her stomach, “ let’s go with wonderwall. campfire song stresses me the fuck out. ”

 “  ruined  ?  that’s  dramatic.  ”    voice  is  a  soft  tease  ,  shaking  his  head  at  her.    “  might  take  a  request  if  you  ask  nicely  enough.  ”    adds  on  before  his  fingers  are  picking  at  the  strings  of  his  guitar.  lets  out  a  laugh  ,  half  tempted  to  just  break  out  into  the  campfire  song.  however  ,  he  doesn’t.    “  don’t  worry  ,  it  was  just  a  joke  anyway.  i  try  not  to  subject  people  to  my  singing  if  they  didn’t  ask  for  it.  ”    soft  strumming  continues  eye  glancing  away  from  her.    “  the  real  question  is  ,  what  do  you  have  against  the  campfire  song  ?  you  can  sing  patricks  part.  or  ,  even  squidward’s  !  ”

the drummer can’t help the wide grin that falls onto their features at the sight of their roommate, whipping out their own drumsticks from their back pocket, “shut up…is that THEEEE sterling? the youtube ROYALTY? will you sign my tits?” clara teased their roommate with the crinkle of their nose, plopping down beside the other, “god. please no more campfire song. play anything other than that and i’ll follow along.” to demonstrate, they leaned forward and playfully tapped the tips of her drumsticks against his thigh.

 “  i’m  going  to  start  screaming  right  now  if  you  don’t  cute  that  shit  out.  ”    can’t  help  the  laughter  that  leaves  his  lips  at  the  reactions  from  his  roommate.    “  and  no  ,  i’m  not  signing  your  boobs.  who  do  you  think  i  am  ?  ”    another  laugh  ,  strumming  his  guitar  a  bit  louder  than  previously.    “  are  you  gonna  give  me  a  beat  on  my  leg  ?  that  would  hurt  ,  don’t  do  that.  ”    teases  soft  and  then  starts  to  play  ,  picking  a  random  set  of  chords  that  he  had  been  working  on  putting  together.  the  good  thing  about  having  a  drummer  for  a  roommate  what  that  they  would  constantly  challenge  each  other  musically.    “  c’mon  ,  c.  keep  up.  ”

sterling thomas was born to a single father in palm springs , california. his mother was never interested in raising him but his father stepped up & took care of him with pretty much nothing to his name.

sterling & his dad are incredibly close ! his dads like his best friend and they’ve been through everything together.

because of his upbringing , sterling didn’t really have a lot growing up. they lived in a one bedroom apartment and he did little things around the complex to help earn money for him and his dad. teachers are his school were super receptive and always sent him home with food and things to make sure he was okay. 

ever since he learned his mom didn’t want to stick around & was just out there letting his dad do this alone , his heart closed up a bit and he only really gave out trust to his dad.

however , as closed off as he was , he learned to dance his way around words to benefit himself and his dad. anything he could do to make sure they stayed afloat.

as soon as he was hold enough , he was working at least two jobs to be able to support him and his dad comfortably. it was a lot of work , but it was worth it. 

once he turned eighteen and graduated high school , sterling already knew he didn’t plan on going to college. it wasn’t something they could afford or really even something he felt like he wanted to do. 

but his dad has been saving little by little over the years without telling sterling and had originally planned on using it to get sterling into college. however , he wasn’t going to force him to. 

instead , he told sterling about the money and let him figure out what he wanted to do with it. 

for a year , sterling didn’t do much with it. however , he did buy a camera and some other tools to help him start a youtube channel. 

besides his dad , the only consistency in his life had been music. it was his escape after work or after school. he had friends at school but never really wanted to spend time with them.

was always the kid walking around with a guitar over his back and making people swoon with his music. 

SO ANYWAY ! on a whim , he decides to make this youtube channel. 

it gains some traction and he begins to work some lil gigs here and there. 

as time goes on , sterling wants to be in california less and less. and eventually , he dad convinces him to go on the road. 

on a total whim with the saving his dad gave him , sterling leaves california and travels the states working little gigs here and there as well as vlogging his travels to build up money. 

eventually , two years ago , he finds and settled down in vegas. theres something about the busy city that just drew him in , and he wanted to spend time really building a bigger fanbase.

he’s not a super super well known musician , but he’s getting there.
