Bhonette’s Lugawan
Bhonette’s Lugawan sa Plaza It’s hard to believe that a simple eatery in a plaza can last for more than 10 years. However, this Bhonette’s Lugawan sa Plaza is continuing its title as the most famous lugawan in the town. I asked my friend and he was born in San Pedro, he said that since he was young, that eatery is already there. So, I also asked my step-father, he also said that Bhonette’s has been there for more than 15 years already. I never knew that it was built for so long and the eatery is still alive and there’s still a lot of customers that visits and eat. Every Sunday, since it’s in the plaza and near to the church, after the holy mass, my family will eat there, and I would say that they have a delicious lugaw. They sell lugaw with egg, chicharron and tokwa’t baboy.

It’s widely known that the Philippines is a Catholic nation. That’s why every town in the country has a catholic church. In the City of San Pedro, San Pedro Apostol Parish is also one of the known church in the city. It is located in front of the San Pedro plaza. It was named after its patron saint Peter the Apostle. A relic of St. Faustina, the divine mercy, can be seen inside the church. Also, Sto. Sepulcro is the famous church in the city because of its miracle. It was once an original barrio chapel made of bamboo and nipa but because of increasing number of pilgrims every Friday, it eventually became a stone church. As devotion to Lolo Uweng, major religios activies were held in visita especially during holy week.
On the other hand, in Canlubang they have St. Joseph the Worker Parish and it is one of their familiar landmark. It was built on a small hill and it houses the Yulo Mausoleum. This old beautiful church was renovated to maintain its original structure so that even if the time passes it will stay the same. Also, it was one of the well-known church in Canlubang when it comes to wedding. Dona Cecilla Araneta Yulo is the contributor of this church to its community. She was so proud undertaking it which served as the venue for the spiritual growth of Canlubang people and families. At the right side of this church is the graveyard of the Yulo families.
When you are in Talisay, Batangas, make sure to include the San Guillermo Parish Church. The church isn’t just a historic building, but also a source of mystery. Some would say that San Guillermo – Talisay’s Patron Saint – performed a miracle when he stopped Taal’s devastating eruption in 1911. The parish has been around since 1874, but the current church you see was only constructed sometime in the 1970s. The interior is simple yet exudes beauty with statues, religious icons, and stained glass windows.
