My Solo exhibition poster uses the Golden ratio to draw attention to the globe of life.  I was going for an effect that would pull the viewer into the center of my piece. The more they get closer the more information they will get with the variation in colors and the variations in shape. The details should become warmer and comforting for the viewer and will get them to see the information on my poster because of the attraction they felt for the main image. The text is also positioned in an upside-down golden ratio because it wraps from the top words of “Life” to the smaller words of the date on the bottom left-hand corner. I intended to do this because it keeps the viewer moving around the piece and forces them to wrap around the imagery as well. The scale of the hand is close to human size which adds a connection between the viewer and the poster. The viewer should get a feeling that this could be their hand reaching out to grab the life orb. The text also varies in size according to what I deemed was most important. “Life” was what makes the connection between the imagery and the exhibition and is what would grab the attention. My name is then the second biggest because by then the viewer is reading and moving around my piece and finally the date and museum are mentioned. The fact that the date and museum are also slightly obstructed by the pattern behind them makes it blend into the background and slow the read.
My piece for the group exhibition uses scale in the silhouetted hands and text. The hands should look powerful and united to represent people coming together to fight social inequalities. All of the artists, including myself, have done works that focus on a social issue or commenting and bringing into the spotlight minorities. The way the hands are placed almost looks as if they are moving the text with their power, at least this was the intention. In addition, the text framed the hands so as to show that our art is just a byproduct of the injustices and that the real focus should be on the social issues not on the art itself. The art is just a way to look back into the social inequalities that are being commented on. The text on social justice is framed in an arrow or triangle like shape that points at the hands to get this message across.  Where “One” is also creating a triangle or arrow look that pints at the hands and the artists' names are also framing the silhouetted fists to show that these artists are conforming and responding to their surroundings to highlight them. William Butler is a close friend of mine who owns the Gallery and lives in the city of Camden. This exhibition is one that is completely out of my reach. I actually believe that one day I could put together an exhibition that highlights these issues and draw attention to social injustice through art.

Extra Credit ...The advice I received from the South Korean Artists was to not let failure stop me from trying new art styles or mediums. They said it took them a long time to perfect their technique and find their specialty and the same thing could happen to me but that you learn a lot in the process of finding what your best at.
