most ppl recognize that you don't have to set out to be bigoted to commit a bigoted action. in a society that's pervaded by misogyny, racism, ableism, and queerphobia etc, it's easy to pick up and reproduce bigoted attitudes and behaviours without meaning to. with that in mind, let's recognize what transphobia is

transphobia can be a word to describe individual hatred or fear of trans people, but in a larger sense transphobia is a cisnormative regime. it's a set of attitudes and behaviours that seek to keep people behaving cisgender. with this wider understanding of transphobia as a system, it's easier to understand that actions like denying kids the choice to go through trans puberty, with the help of hrt, is a transphobic action. not because it stems from an individual hatred of trans people. the child's parents/guardians, doctors, and politicians may all be acting out of genuine concern for the wellbeing of the child. gatekeeping trans puberty but not cis puberty, or even forcing the child to go through cis puberty if blockers aren't provided, is a transphobic act because it enforces cisness

any puberty will cause irreversible changes to the body which may harm the child's physical and mental wellbeing for the rest of their life, before someone brings it up

gonna be real, the boiling the lobsters alive is the cruel and horrifying part. rescuing one caught lobster and setting it free is actually doing something kinder than other lobster buyers. if you look at the actions, not the words, these are the least cruel lobster eaters out there
