How To Pay off Credit Card Debt: From the Snowball to the Avalanche Method
Every time you pay off a debt, you roll the payment for that debt over into the next debt you have to pay. As you pay off debts, the total amount you’re paying every month stays the same while the total amount going toward the account you’re currently paying off increases exponentially.
The Snowball Method works, especially for those less logical than Tuvok. It has helped millions of folks get out of debt. Just as Kettle & Co. reveal in their study, the tactic is gratifying, simple, and fast. Like playing a video game, it makes paying off debt feel like leveling up. Every time you kill a debt, you’re able to face the next one with a bigger, stronger payment that does more damage.

Gaza still needs us
Can you spare an hour's pay per day to send to Gaza? A half hour's pay? Even an hour's pay per week helps these families rebuild their homes and lives.
Can you join me?

I watched a documentary on it last night, and the visuals from it- of survivors trapped under the rubble for up to two weeks, of victims crushed by the weight, of the community weeping for their loved ones, of the community coming together to dig their people out of the wreckage, of yearning for at least a piece to take home and bury... It broke my heart, really. And that was just one day; imagine being the people of Gaza, having to undergo this kind of stress every day for the past almost two years, now, from a targeted genocide!
But there's something you can do about Gaza right now, though. @aburakhiaibrahim has been fundraising to care for himself and his family for a while, now. Even a small donation is better than zero. Donate if you can, share if you will not 🙏🏾

GUYS NEW SHARK JUST DROPPED
Tumblr media
Well, technically it's not new : it's a nurse shark. What's new, however, is that it's the first xanthic (imagine albinism but in yellow) nurse shark ever found !! Not only it's not common AT ALL to find fishes with xanthism (it's the first cartilagenous fish ever recorded with this type of genetic "anomally"), but if it's there and still existing as an adult, it means the species is chill-ish with other predators (it probably would have been eaten by then). Its eyes are white so it can also be a form of albinism, in addition to xanthism !!!!!
And most of all : ITS SO CUTE !! AND IT'S SUCH A COOL FIND !!
Please if a marine biologist or someone with more info can interact with this post to feed me some more info or correct me on wrong infos i'e given I'd love it !
(Also if you have pics of animals with xanthism, it's also very appreciated!!)

Hey Americans! If you buy things from overseas, as of August 22 you probably don’t anymore.
Most foreign postal services have paused shipping of packages under $800 to the USA. You will hear that it’s “because of tariffs,” but that’s not exactly true.
It’s because the US:
Has not given anyone a way to pay those tariffs and
Has not been clear on what will ACTUALLY have to be paid. (The country’s tariff has been floated, but a US$80 flat fee has also been floated.
Many countries require people to pay tariffs when they receive a package. That’s fine. But you have to give people a way to pay the damn tariff. And there isn’t a way to do so. Apparently there isn’t even a PLAN for a way to do so.
So: if you have been buying from Etsy or eBay or a little shop overseas, if you subscribe to a foreign magazine, if you are an immigrant and you buy food from home via mail, now you will need to fly there and bring it home. Of course, the people who can afford that are also the ones responsible for this dumb policy.

ultimately the best way to prevent abuse is to organize society in such a way that everyone's needs are met wothout having to rely on a parent or employer or boyfriend or any one individual. obviously wont stop, like, manipulation or so on, but the ability to dangle basic needs over someone's head is one of the most powerful and consistant tools of abuse out there. if someone is able to just leave, and know that they will have access to food and shelter and clean water and education, that will enable so, so mamy victims of abuse to do just that.

As someone who has been masking this whole time, investing in air purifiers for my home, still ordering groceries, etc - has there been a collective discussion on what metrics we're looking for in order to acknowledge the pandemic as being over? Is there a criteria we've identified (that is actually being tracked) that signifies the end in sight?
I was thinking about how maybe people aren't masking or taking it seriously because no one is talking about what the end of a pandemic looks like. If people feel like "this is never ending, why bother" maybe we need to address that by candidly and openly talking about what would need to happen before we can say "it's safe to not mask everywhere now."
I dunno, maybe I'm just reaching for straws in thinking that there might be a way to talk people back into taking it seriously.
Back in 2020, Fauchi said that the pandemic would be over when we were having ~10,000 a day cases during a seasonal peak. Covid is far from seasonal and even in the dips between peaks, we're seeing ~100,000 cases a day with millions of cases each day during covid's peaks. We are more than tenfold above where we'd need to be to even think about relaxing about covid, yet the antimaskers think we're insane for doing something to protect ourselves. It's literally high school peer pressure shit just on a societal level. If people fear being seen as "weird" by assholes they don't know more than they do the risk of death and disabling effects of still circulating covid, just giving them info isn't enough, because somewhere deep down they still trust our corrupt, soulless, profit-for-planet-destroying-corporations-above-all-else government to do *something* to inform them of pressing threats, so best case they'll ignore you and worst case they'll think you're a conspiracy nut. Because they care about the social aspect, not the health or economic or scientific or societal implications. Basically, don't waste your time debating doomers with a second-grade understanding of nihilism and talk to people who seem interested instead. Talk to those who value action and community care over people who covet hollow social approval and love inaction.

Tumblr is the reason why I have something I call the cashier test which is, if i told this to a random cashier at the grocery store, would they think you're crazy at best or at worst would they be warranted in leaping over the counter and beating the shit out of you. Karl Marx mpreg is crazy, but not beating the shit out of you crazy. The cashier will probably talk about you to their coworkers and it might even make their day. Telling someone they're complicit in their own oppression by working a minimum wage job at a grocery store makes them warranted in leaping over the counter to beat the shit out of you.
