It’s a habit he had all the time, which is why he used to wear his hood. It was easier to hide expressions that way, now he just forces a grin and puts on his usual playful smile like everything’s fine. It’s easier to crack jokes after all, especially without a care in the world about himself at some points.

“Can’t stay kids forever, Steph. It’s just how it is. Bet you still have that raging crush on Kyle though.” A playful nudge, more or less a joke for the most part. He was always like that though, always teasing the both of them. After all, someone had to after Cartman constantly tried to tear the two of them apart.

“There’s no way someone worse than Cartman would come along… then again, with how this town is, I can’t really say that in confidence.”

“It’s South Park. Anything is possible but, after all this time, Cartman is still the worst so... maybe that will stick.”

And there went that playful teasing about Kyle. She couldn’t be made at it, not after she realized he did this to be kind unlike Cartman, that jealous asshole that went out of way when he thought Stephanie was after Kyle in a romantic way. Did Kenny think the soulmate like bond she and Kyle once had wasn’t platonic even now?

"Gods no.” Stephanie sighed. “You always mistook my platonic soulmate thing I thought I had with Kyle as a crush, didn’t you?” she asked. “Dude, he wasn’t the one I had a crush on in junior high and high school.”

He just doesn’t show, especially not around the guys. Pocketing his hands, he just sort of shrugs it off. “I can’t really tell sometimes with Tweek either. We’re just the same as we’ve ever been. I think at this point we’re just together for the hell of it. No point in breaking up when things are still fine. Most forget we were together too, weirdly enough. We could probably break up at any time and be fine at this point.”

Neither of them had found anyone else though, so they just left it as is. “If we find the right people, yeah I guess. It’s not something that’s really on our priority list. It’s one of those ‘if it happens, it happens’ sort of things.”

"Wouldn’t say I thought that but can’t deny it certainly got most of them thinking that.” Stephanie agreed. It was his next comment that had her stunned, then again, in South Park, should things ever surprise you? Well, she certainly always felt like it shouldn’t get it often still managed to stun her.

“Well...” she paused, thinking of a good way of wording her feelings, before she crossed her arms and weakly smiled. “I wish you both the best. Honestly, after everything you’ve both gone through just through my old friend group? You both more than deserve it. If that’s together or just as friends then as long as you both get a good ending, I’m content.”
