October 2022 Games/Media UPdate

Anyway, nothing too serious; just trying this website again. Currently playing Rune Factory 4 and in the middle of a harem run. Have finished Vishnal's, Kiel's, and Dylas' marriage events. Vishnal's was really cute and adorabe and Kiel is umm. The event was sweet, and my god did it hurt to say no, but I'm sorry bud you just look way too long. Dylas' event didn't really change my opinion about him; probably my least favorite guy so far. Doug is probably my second favorite candidate so far; not quite feeling Arthur and Leon but I'll wait until I finish their events before final judgement.

Storywise, I finished arc 3, and mostly doing last minute prep before going into sharence maze. Some of that last minute prep is getting married for the white stone. I feel I should finish within a few days and make my penultimate weapon/armor, and then make me final armor set from sharence maze drops. Steady but slow progress currently.

I honestly don't know what game I'll play next. I'll figure it out I guess. oh, and I’ve also been watching Vinland Saga (NF dub). Almost done. It can move slow at times, but definitely gives GoT-as-an-anime vibes. Also, everyone is just so. Burly. So burly. Well, maybe not Thorfinn.

Trying Tumblr Again After Years

Like many a few Decembers ago, I ended up at twitter but want to try to give tumblr another go. As it’s been a solid 2.5 years since I’ve seriously used Tumblr, my interests have changed, people I’ve followed moved on, and practically speaking, this might as well be a new account.

Briefly some fandoms I like: kiseki, yakuza, tales, fire emblem, gundam, and xenoblade. Also enjoy BL series like Given or series with ‘gay vibes’ such as Sk8 the Infinity; the specific series changes a lot but if you create, discuss, or otherwise adore m/m content, I’m probably here for that.  my blog title thing is “the duke of velthomer,” a reference to Arvis from Fire Emblem Genealogy of the Holy War. He is one of my favorite characters ever. I like bishies with long flowing hair, as it were.

Julia ~ Naga's Blood

This is Julia, or as I like to call, deleter of dragons. It's difficult to discuss Julia without talking about Deirdre; prior to their refines, Julia not only had access to Deirdre's Divine Naga but said weapon was better than Naga. With their statlines being so similar, Deirdre was essentially Julia with better skills et to start off. Moreover, the niche of a dragon effective tome was mitigated by the fact dragon's target the lower of defense/resistance for ranged units (instead of resistance).

The refines changed everything. Not only did Deirdre and Julia get refines for both Naga and Divine Naga, but ensured dragons target their resistance; both these girls have a lot of resistance. Now there is a legitimate discussion if Julia is better off using refined Naga or Divine Naga. There is a lot of reasons I chose Naga, but a big one is since I had Deirdre as well, who uses Divine Naga, I decide to use Naga to differentiate the two.

So what does refine Naga do? Four things.

1.) grants effective damage against dragons

2.) gives Julia +4 def/Res when attacked

3.) ensures dragons target resistance

4.) gives close counter against dragon units.

My Julia gains +14 resistance when attacked: +4 from Naga, +4 from mirror stance, and +6 from warding stance. This puts her at 49 effective resistance; few dragons can actually do meaningful damage to her. Further enhanced when she uses attack ploy to lower their attack. With her reasonably high 53 enemy phase attack and effective damage, any dragon that attacks her is deleted. Even if the dragon has high Res, glimmer and effective damage usually equals dead dragon.

Her playstyle really is park in front of dragons and delete them. This makes her unlike any other dragon slayer; most Falchion users, for example, have such awful resistance they need to attack dragons and kill them before they are attacked. And given that most dragons are made to receive hits, their skill sets make them very exposed when they're initiating attack.

With 49 resistance, Julia makes a fantastic mage counter as well. However, Divine Naga is better at handling mages at the cost of not being an enemy phase delete dragon button, so I leave the mage baiting to her mother.
