There’s no Director out there quite like Steve Marino. Directors with his extensive and diversified background in visual FX, digital stop-motion, FX and animation, aren’t exactly hanging out on every corner. Couple that with Steve’s genius outside-the-box approach, for marrying live action with visual FX, and you have yourself something special. He doesn’t just throw a bunch of CG stations at a job —Steve thrives on building upon clients creative with unique ideas and solutions that add up to exciting, powerful, award winning advertising.

New Projects:
1. Wrapping Pipes: Next week stay tuned for pictures…
2. Window Treatments: Illustrations below providing an even more involved undertaking.
Original intent was to do side and rear louvers, but due to number of factors, going in a different direction. Amy thinks it’ll be “too Mad Max”, but (—as long as it’s not “Beyond Thunderdome” ) with Bette I don’t think that’s a bad thing… also much more unique.
Yep.. I now, it may look like John Nash’s scribblings but it all makes sense to me.. Now OFF to welders!!!

Here’s the wide shot including my G-Awful (—yet thankfully “socked”) feet for scale. The previous pictures showed the lighting of the trees, this is in relationship to full set up. Set pieces not in yet. Still a WIP, but getting there!!! 3 of 3 pictures.

Little bit of hobby, production design / model making to keep sane (?) and stretch muscles outside of my normal toolset. All white areas built up to allow for even track. (—also can’t work on Bette with all this damn rain!!!) pict 1 of 3.

Some times ya have to tear it all apart and build it back up… That’s where we’re at now.. Fun doing model / set work like this in spare time though…

I know I might lose some people in a “WTF is he doing now?!!” Type of way, but this helps me get out of my head (—the scary place that this… ;).
(—-No matter current situation, work, life, etc., everybody should…)
So, While (still) speaking with shops, and nothing yet (still) set in stone, I have to keep working on my own projects. (—sitting watching television while waiting for the phone to ring ain’t me!!! :). It keeps me fresh, with a diversity of mediums rather than using the same tool over and over again both in practicalities, and business sensibilities.
This particular piece harkens back to when I was a model maker / production designer many moons ago.
It’s for my model railroad / slot car set-up I recently began working on again on a bigger with my buddy who has similar interests and free time since he just sold his company.
I totally forgot how FUN(!!!) it is to build something without interjection from anyone else.
Not to say i don’t enjoy working collaboratively, (—I wholeheartedly do!!!!) but rolling up ur sleeves and getting full of “stuff” with no one to answer to is just GREAT!
Figured better do this now, as I’m gearing up to head off to the metal shop & work on a new project for “Bette”.

Ok, I think I’ve got the deep dish down now, (—wasn’t going to let it beat me / last attempt I boggled it an it ended up with a belly flop as I yelled KHAN!!! …) but the crust, while buttery, doesn’t get as crisp / charred as I’d like…
Going back to pan for greater coverage and thinner/ charred crust / bottom.

New project, new venture. Building client base to do custom fabrication in keeping with my homes, style. This client is being provided is two Murano glass pieces (—PICTs coming next…) that we will be turning into ceiling drop down focal point lamps based on my design. This is an interesting extension of my home, hobbies, and what I did years ago as a production designer.
