Chapter 1

It took you hours on a stuffy plane ride but you finally arrived in the Maldives.

'The azure blue sea and the golden sand............this is a paradise.' you thought to yourself.

“Y/N , you made it .”

You were greeted by your younger sister Wanda .

“Of course it's my baby sister's wedding, I wouldn't miss it for the world.”

The blushing bride-to-be embraced you into a warm hug .

“I missed you ” she exclaimed.

“Me too”

Wanda is marrying her millionaire boyfriend, Vision and they have decided to hold an extravagant wedding in the beach of Maldives .

Knowing her you already know that it's going to be a whole week of partying .

“So, how are things back in New York ? ” she asked.“ Did you manage to finish that huge project you were talking about?”

You moved to New York to become a writer after you graduated from college but unfortunately, all your books has been a flop . Your ego got the best of you and you've been hiding it from your family.

“Actually I'm not doing that well, I had to take some trashy projects just to make ends meet” you told her honestly .

“Oh, I'm so sorry you never told us.”

“ It's embarrassing. ”

“I hope things will take up soon , besides it's a wedding. Forget about everything and just have fun.” she tried to comfort you .“Now let's get my maid of honor checked-in! ”

Wanda sashays ahead of you towards the counter as you drag your bulky suitcase along , trying to keep up with her.

“Wait up-”

In the midst of your struggle you bump into someone.

“Oh God , I'm sorry ” you exclaimed.

You found it hard to look away as his eyes bore into yours. He was strikingly handsome and his dirty blonde hair has strands perfectly falling in place. The fitted shirt he wears does little to hide his muscular body .

“Are you okay?” he asks.

You jolted back to reality. Even the way he speaks feels regal .

“ I'm fine”

“ Y/N ,over here” Wanda shouts .

You turn around to see Wanda waving at you over . By the time you turn back the man you had bumped into was gone.

Where did he go? you thought.

Wanda comes back with a room key in her hand .

“What took you so long ?”she asks.

“I bumped into a guy-”

“Oh , was he cute ?” she asks you teasingly .

“ Seriously?”

“What? It's a wedding weekend. Let loose a little.” she tells “You have been single for 5 years, it's time to meet the man of your dreams.”

You groan . You hate it when others comment on your non-existent love life .

“I don't need a man .”you said .

“Sorry, soft spot .”

You turn aside and change the topic.

“ Is that my room key ? I'll get the concierge .”you told her.

“ No need I've arranged your personal concierge.”

Just then , a man approaches you both.

“ Y/N , this is my friend Stephen and Stephen this is my very attractive sister Y/N .”

“Hi!” you introduced yourself politely.

“Hi, Y/N ” he greeted you .

“Hi Stephen , you are here just in the right time . I think my sister Vera need a little help with her suitcase. ”

“Sure” Stephen told .

“See you too at my bachelorette party tonight. ”Before leaving Wanda playfully nudged you .

“So , which room are you staying?” Stephen asks.

“Its really okay, you don't have to.”

“But I want to .”

“Ok , room 309 .”

He lifts up your suitcase with both hands and heads towards your room . You follow him .

“So Wanda says you're a writer , did you write something that I might know?” Stephen asks.

“ Probably not I'm not accomplished yet.”

The small talk continues until you arrive to your room .

“So this is me .”

As much as you would like to have Stephen around, you are exausted from the long plane ride and prefer some time alone to freshen up .

“ Well, I'll see you around.”

“Wait-”

Stephen seems slightly disappointed as you shut the door on him .

You throw yourself on the bed and make a sheet angel as you stare out at the beautiful horizon from the window.

This weekend couldn't have come at a better timing. You thought.

Not only you have hit a dead end with your writing carrier, the slump has you feeling uninspired for your next book . NYC was feeling stuffy and far from the city where dreams come true.

But I'm sure that a weekend in Maldives will fix that . A stroll along the beach will be just be the inspiration I need .

You heave yourself off the bed and freshen up before heading out.

You can't help but sig out in bliss for the second time today , as you sink your feet into the golden sand . As you look at the glistening ocean you find someone surfing . He's a little too far away to make out his face but ........

Wow , that body .....

He's ripped in all right places. You are mesmerized by how effortless he makes surfing look as he rides out the waves and casually throws a couple of tricks .

A summer romance with a hot surfer looks like a bestseller.

You are about to look away when a huge wave capsizes the surfer.

Oh no, what should I do?

Without thinking anything you dash into the waters . To your relief he resurfaces .

Guess I overreacted ......

But the surfer seems to spot you and waves you over .

Huh, Me ?

You look around and see there's no one else on the beach .

Does he need help?

You find your answer when you find a pair of swimming trunks washes up at your feet .

Is that...?

You pick it up.

“ Hi !”the surfer greets you .

It's the guy from the lobby .

He wades his way over to you with his surfboard and stops right where the water hits his waist.

Is he naked right now?

Your eyes wander over his sculpted his sculpted stomach as your gaze follows the perfectly defined V-line downwards .

“ I believe you have something of mine .”

Oh no, he is asking about the trunks.

“ Finders Keepers” you say him teasingly.

He cocks his head to the side at amusement as he bites his lips. He chuckles softly . You gasp as he takes a step towards you, revealing a bit tad more as the water ripples around him.

“Are we really playing this game right now?”he asks teasingly.

Your breath catches both at the sight in front of you and his low , husky voice. You gulp and can't wait for where will this lead .

“ I'll leave it here .”

You drop his trunks and run away in embarrassment. You find a coconut tree at some distance away and hide behind it .

This was embarrassing but this haves me idea about my next story .

Back in your room you quickly pull out your laptop and jot down the ideas.

A girl meets a hot surfer who capsizes..... should I mention the trunks?

You decided not to include it . The words seem to naturally flow out of you as you recall your own encounter.

You are so absorbed in your writing that you don't notice the sun setting outside. It's been hours since you first stared and you are still on it . Then you are startled by the door knock.

“Who is it ?” you ask.

“ Y/N , what are you doing here ? It's almost time for my bachelorette party.” Wanda says .

Oh God , I completely forgot about it .

“ Just give me a minute.”you say.

“Okay ,come fast .”

You shut down your laptop and get ready for the party.

Prince Steve of Brooken was to make his arrival today to York. He was coming here for the summer to get to know you better because you two were to get married after two years.

You hoped that you won't have to deal with him a lot. But the reason why he was visiting to York made the chances of that nearly impossible.

You were in the gardens, having a conversation with your best friend Wanda. When your fa right hand man Sir Rhodes approached to you informing you about the arrival of Prince Steven of Brooken. Your father wanted you to greet him so he sent Sir Rhodes to bring you. You told him that you'll come in a minute but you had no interest to greet that arrogant prince.

When Sir Rhodes went away, you continued your conversation with Wanda discussing about your disinterest on marrying Steven. Also saying her about the rumors about Steven.

“Ohhh... ohhhh Y/N how could you believe on them? They are just rumors and you don't know Prince Steven personally so what's the problem. ”Wanda excused .

“Wanda” you scolded her.

The rumors were that he is very arrogant and thinks himself superior to other. People claim that at the age of ten he killed his mother because she scolded him for something.

The times he visited to York he was always rude to others especially you. You knew that he was very mean, he only cared for himself. He always got what he wanted. You wondered how much of a terrible king he will be one.

When you were at the hallways laughing and joking with Peter, you saw the person whom you least expected to see. You just ignored him, Peter too saw him and did the same as you.

Then Peter was called by the king, your father. He left you promising that he'll meet you afterwards.

You then turned where Steve was standing a few minutes ago and was surprised to see that he was still standing there. His eyes were filled with anger or jealousy. You were happy to see that.

You turned away from him and started to walk towards the garden . You moved a few steps when a strong hand grabbed your upper arm and pulled you to a corner and pinned your both hands above your head .

“What do you think you're doing ?” he asked.

“What do you mean? ” you asked back.

“Ignoring me and all that. ”he looked angry.

“Why does that matter to you? ”you asked.

“It does because you're to be my wife in two years ”he almost yelled.

“I won't marry you. ”you told.

“We'll see. ”he told. With that you fred your hands and started to leave. You were about to leave when his voice stopped you.

“And..........stay away from that boy. ”

“You mean Peter? ”you asked.

“Whatever his name is.... stay away from him.”he replied.

“I won't. ”with that you walked away .

After your encounter with Steve you ignored him more openly. The rest of his days spent in York was the same of you ignoring him except the time you were forced by your parents to spend time with him .

After your rude behavior with him you hoped that he would not want to marry you. You thought that Steve would be as unhappy as you about the marriage but instead he was searching ways to spend more and more time with you. Infact you were the one ignoring him. Whenever he saw you with Peter he had the same angry expression on his face as the first day.

The day when Steve was to go back to York you were very happy. Like the day he came to York you didn't went to greet Steve goodbye. You were finally happy to get rid of him.

You were heading to your chambers when you heared your mother yelling at your father. You thought to ignore it as it was not something unusual for your mother to yell at your father. But you stopped at your tracks when you heared your name.

“Anthony.... are you crazy? ”your mother yelled “How could you do this to her? ”

“Listen.... I can explain. ”your father excused.

“I don't want to listen. ”your mother was sobbing. You knew that this was serious.

“Y/N is my daughter too. I also have the right to take the decisions for her. We promised that we will together take the decisions for her. ”You wondered what was going on .

“I didn't want to it but I had to ” your father excused. “Josheph told that its a marriage or a war. We could not have another war after the last one, it took soo many lives of innocent people. I don't want to risk the life of the people of my kingdom. ”

“Okk.... you couldn't risk the life of the people but you can risk your daughter's life. Didn't you heard the rumors? ”your mother argued.

“I heard it but they are just rumors. We don't know the Prince so how could we believe the rumors? ”your father told.

“Y/N won't marry Prince Steven ”your mother yelled.

What ? You were to marry Steve. That arrogant prince of Brooken, whom you hated.

“She will marry him ”your father yelled back.

You were completely lost in your thoughts. You turned to the direction you were heading to. You moved a few steps when by mistakenly you pushed the flower vase at the nearby table. It fell on the floor with a loud sound and shattered into pieces, that caught your parents attention.

They rushed out to see who it was , who was eavesdropping on their conversation. They saw a very teary eyed you. Your father took a few steps towards you but you backed away.

“Y/N , sweetie....... I can explain. ”your father tried to comfort you.

“I won't marry Steve. ”You told before rushing to your bedchambers.

You entered your bedchambers and closed the door behind you. You rushed to a corner and dropped on the floor and started crying.

You didn't want to marry Steve. You hated him. He visited York a few times and every time was cold towards you. He moved like he owned the place. He looked at others the way that made them feel that they were inferior to him.

It had been hours since you were sitting there and crying. Even your tears had dried now.

Then you felt a hand on your shoulders, you looked up to see who is was. You saw your mother standing there. You got up and hugged her tight.

“I won't marry Steve ”you sobbed against your mother.

“Sweetie....don't cry”your mother tried to comfort you.“Don't worry you are too young now. You'll marry him when you get 18 but don't worry I'll do something. ”

“Really ”you asked your mother curiously.

“Yeah really”your mother replied. With that she wiped your tears. You hugged her her once more and then you ran out of your bedchambers to find your friends Wanda and Peter.

King Anthony watched his daughter playing with her friends, she had a smile on her face. He wondered what the queen had told her.

Then he heard footsteps and saw his wife approaching. He then went to her.

“What did you say to Y/N?”he asked curiously.

“I told that I'll do something to stop the marriage. ”your mother replied.

“Why are you giving her false hopes? ”

“Can't you see she is so happy now. ”

“For now she's happy but what about when she comes of age? What will be say her? ”your father asked.

“I don't know ”the queen replied.

“We should say her the truth. ”he was about to go to you and tell the truth but your mother stopped him.

“Not now, my king. ”
