Another project from spring 2024! I remember this taking me ridiculously long because it wasn't very sturdy and was very intricate. That being said, I think I would consider it a normal project time now...
The 4th picture is the project in progress. It's basically a block of wood with cutout cardboard pieces that are glued together along with some holes being covered with tissue paper. The lightbulb and cord slide in one of the open shapes. I think I used an lasercutter or similar to cut sets of shapes out of the component pieces of cardboard, but it was long ago enough that I don't remember exactly what I did. I do remember using circles and some tools in a program to make the shapes digitally, as well as printing out paper versions to test different possible shapes for the lamp.
I was inspired by a tessellating pattern I saw in a clay garden wall.
I would execute it differently had I done this now. However, I still really like the lighting effect created, which was the main goal.
