Description from GoFundMe: Hello, my name is Ally Harwood and I'm twenty years old. I'm raising money for my mother to be able to get a lawyer and fight for this one year old girl, Hazel. She is my cousin's baby, but my cousin is very unfit to be a mother. My cousin and my aunt are not financially stable, they are often found living with friends or their drug-dealers. They often leave the baby alone with strangers. My cousin does not know how to raise a child, she thinks of it like babysitting. When my grandma took care of Hazel earlier in 2020, she said my cousin was feeding her McDonalds regularly and giving her over-the-counter, adult medicine when she got sick. They treated her terribly, often spanking her and leaving her with a horrible diaper rash. Hazel didn't have a stable environment until my aunt dropped her off in Florida, with me and my mom. We immediately got her everything she needed through donations from family friends, because we found out that she had nothing at home in Illinois. She used to sleep on the floor in the living room while her mom locked her bedroom door. We knew something was really wrong when my aunt, Hazel's grandmother, said the baby didn't need the basic necessities that our friends were donating to her. My aunt left Hazel with us and she was happily living with us for more than a month until they came back to take her away. It was a very long night, we got the police and CPS involved, but they couldn't do anything because Hazel was born in Illinois, and we live in Florida. Even after taking a drug test from my aunt, who lives with my cousin, and finding meth in her system, they still let them take the baby. My family fought so hard to keep Hazel, but legally we couldn't do anything without going to court in Illinois. My mother is the best person for this baby to be with. Everyone else in this baby's family never graduated high school, so my mom is her only option to have a great future. My mother has a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in special education. She has extensive experience as a teacher and a nanny. She's got four of her own children, two of them currently going to college. Our household also consists of my mom's wonderful fiancé, and my two younger sisters who are in high school. I'm also living at home, so there is always someone to look after and love Hazel. She was so happy here and she was healthier than ever, but they took her away from us. We want what is best for her, and I hope you can understand. I hope you can help us, it would mean the world to us to save this little girl. She could have a wonderful future, with your help.
