The installation of the final porthole, after being primed and painted with screws applied to finish the design, the piece was drilled and placed into the wall with three screws and the size of the projector was altered so the animations could fit the inside of the porthole space.

A before and after of my creation of the porthole, with a 1m diameter, and made from MDF. I created the final outcome by cutting out the two sides of the circle using machines in 3D studio before sticking them together with wood glue to form the full circle on the right. The sanding down of the sides was done by hand.

For a more accurate idea of how our porthole would be placed, I created a 3D mounting board model to picture how it would appear in the space, and included a frame from the animation in the centre to give an idea of how the animations would be projected into the space, as if they were the view from outside the porthole.

Scans of some of my final prints, on white cartridge paper - however, images that went into the final book were printed on cream coloured paper for a different effect, and these prints didn’t end up being used in the final piece.
