"Oh, that's so nice. Thanks." Stiles had never been given such a nice gift. He looked the baked goods over, wondering which one would be the best. There were a couple things he didn't recognize, but they all looked delicious.
When Mim started coughing, Stiles unconsciously reached out to touch her shoulder. "Well, I'm glad it's not anything worse. Did the doctors say anything about.. uh.. how long it might last?"
He had left pretty quickly after the medics had taken over, not comfortable being around all that medical equipment. Maybe he should've let them check him over, but it wasn't exactly a logical decision. "I've been fine. I think I must have been further away from the fire when it started, didn't breathe in as much smoke."

"Oh, cool. What's their name?" Stiles had come across a handful of people who chose their name, or went by a nickname, but he still wasn't 100% comfortable with his. He guessed it was because he didn't want too many questions about his old 'name' or where he came from.
He found himself pulled into thoughts of his past. Before he had a real name, when he was just treated like a thing. An experiment. He shook away those thoughts, trying to bring himself to the present moment with Sorrel.
"Hey, have you been in Swynlake for long?" Stiles was curious. Maybe he should have asked earlier, but he wanted to know and figured he should ask anyway.

Stiles was kind of avoiding looking directly at anybody under the pavillion when heard his name. He looked toward the sound and was thrilled to see Luz! He smiled at her and scooched a little bit out of the way for her to sit down.
"Yeah, it came out of nowhere." He laughed a little. "I figured this was a good place to wait for it to pass." He'd noticed the rain didn't usually last long, so as long as he was able to find some shelter it wasn't too bad.
He looked over at Luz's things, noticing the unfamiliar case. "Hey, what's that?" He said with a big smile, hoping she wouldn't mind explaining. She'd been so helpful at the bonfire, he didn't really think that would be an issue.

After a couple awkward conversations, Stiles realized his "common knowledge" base was pretty lacking. So, he had sought out the library and gotten himself an introductory history of the United Kingdom book. A very nice boy at the library had offered to answer any questions he had and even gave him some little book tabs to mark the pages!
The book might have been a little bit above Stiles' reading level, but he was still learning a lot. And he had a lot of free time to spend reading, so that's what he was doing now. He was sitting on a bench with his book, just minding his own business, when he heard his name and looked up to see the girl from the fundraiser.
"For me?" He took the box, immediately opening it to see an array of baked goods. "Thanks... Hey, are you feeling okay?" He had been pretty worried since that night and was glad to see Mim again.

"Oh, no, no witches. At least I don't think I need one."
Stiles gave a sheepish smile. What made someone a witch, anyway? Maybe he was in over his head with this magic stuff. He probably should have asked some more questions before just setting out here the second someone mentioned it. But now that he was here, he better make the best of it!
"Tricks? I'm not sure I know what you mean." Suddenly, something inside him was on edge. He didn't know why, but he felt strongly that he shouldn't go around broadcasting his abilities. Hell, he didn't even know exactly what he could do yet! He should probably figure that out first.

"I guess so, yeah." Stiles wasn't really used to prioritizing his own comfort, since he hadn't been allowed to for so long. Since being on his own, he'd been much more focused on safety than comfort, though the two did go together to an extent. And for now, he was fine with this.
He let John lead the way, walking beside him but keeping an eye on him for any twists and turns.
"Just heard good things about this place." He said with a shrug. He didn't want to get into his questions about his magic just yet. Yes, he had heard people were accepting here, but he didn't know if that meant everyone would be.
He also didn't know if people would be weird about the origin of his powers. And a small part of him couldn't help but worry about being found and brought back to the lab. Maybe it was paranoid, but he had know way of knowing if anyone was looking for him. So for now it was probably best if he was discerning about who he told.
