You may have already tried this, but atleast with circular knitting needles you can soak the cable/filament in hot water to uncurl it. A quick google brought up this short little video of how to do it with circular knitting needles:
youtube
It's been a while since I updated about my Tunisian crochet project, so here it is!
I did finish block 6, and I like the way the pattern looks now... But it's WAY too long in comparison with the other blocks. I may need to re-do it again.

I also didn't end up liking the flexible hook I ordered. I went with a cheap version, and paid the price- the filament at the end was permanently curled in such a way that made using the hook awkward and uncomfortable.
Block 8!

I like the way this one looks. Very structured! Strangely, it turned out *wider* than many of the other blocks, and I honestly don't know why it pulls in there in the middle and is looser on the sides. I feel like my tension is pretty consistent now... but maybe I'm just telling myself that.
Block 9!

This was a fun pattern, although it took me a minute figure out just from the instructions. It reminds me of houndstooth. Also, these are not the colors I was supposed to use, per the book, but I liked these better for this pattern.
However, I'm finding that these patterns don't use as much yarn as I thought they would at the beginning, and I will have plenty left at the end, so I may come back and do it in the intended colors anyway, just to see how it looks.
Block 10!

Honeycomb! This is also not the color I was supposed to use, but the intended color, when I started crocheting, didn't have enough stitch definition. It just looked like a solid color block. So I crocheted a few rows with other colors and ended up liking the definition with this one best.
And here is what they look like next to each other so far!

You can see the problem with block six, although there is definitely a lot of variation going on in terms of length/width of other blocks.
I'm not sure how I'm going to fix this yet, but I'm sure I'll figure something out.
(I also need to weave in my ends for a bunch of them, but we're just going to ignore that for now)

Just discovered Tunisian crochet

This is FANTASTIC for straps, all these years of making straps in singular crochet ans being dissatisfied with the straps and this stitch existed. It barely stretches , and its very sturdy. I'm mad I didn't learn of it earlier, its on the same level as crocheting with the cord stitch, if not better. Where has this been all my life???
Only issue is it hurts my hand if I use too small a hook. XD but ill be careful. As for the project I am working on, I am redoing the straps to a bag I made my grandma like , 10+ years ago. She wanted to use it but the strap it had kept stretching, so upon her request I figured I'd put my better skills to use. A part of me wishes I took a picture of it before hand-but another part feels like "nah."
Anyway, ill show my progress later. I'll also share some art in a bit, ive been doing art and crochet lately, it will be a thing for awhile.

Do you know Webtoon? I’m not really a comic artist/reader, but thought this mobile scrolling comic format may be interesting for sewing instructions, too. I uploaded some demo episodes of pocket instructions with this smart-phone-friendly-comic-format. Please check them if you are interested! No account needed for reading. but log-in for commenting or rating or liking. web, PDF, video, paper book etc. all formats have pro and cons. Hope you enjoy and comments and requests are welcome! my mini sewing instructions webtoon here

I never thought I'd have to say this, but it's too hot to knit. (I don't know how to handle this).
#i have a few days of this every summer#the yarn just starts sticking to you#and the sweat makes it stick to the needles#and the yarn doesn't slide through your fingers so its impossible to tension it right

So, an update on the sweater project that has been cursed by the gods--
Apparently while knitting a row I made four separate, large mistakes. Did I catch them right away? No. Did I catch them all at once? Also no. Did I have to stop knitting to ladder down and re-cable on four separate instances? Yes, yes I did.
AND, on top of that, there was a mistake in the pattern 🤠 I had to go back to ravelry and find the updated version

🧶 Cow hitch increase
Unlike all other single-stitch increases I know, this one is perfectly symmetrical. I’ve been seeing it a lot in my feed lately, so I thought I’d share it. Haven’t tried it yet in a project though.
It mimics the structure of a cow hitch knot - hence the name.

Hello everyone. I have finally finished my crochet tapestry that took 7 months and spanned 1 stressful move, 1 new job, and like 4-5 depressive episodes. So now I’m going to bother everybody about it for like a while.

What about doing a crochet edging in the second color?
So only *after* spending almost $15 on a pattern did I realise that I made a math mistake and don't precisely have enough yarn.
My LYS is doing a make-a-long (you can either knit or crochet), and it's any summer top. So I grabbed the pattern for the Ripple Crop Top; it looked good in the pictures, and I can always lengthen it. Except I can't lengthen it, because apparently I can't do really basic multiplication, and while I thought I had more yardage than I needed for any size, I actually have about exactly enough for my size.
I'm really thinking of just adding a stripe, possibly in the middle of the body, or else doing the sleeves in a different colour. Thoughts?
Using this yarn (variegated blue-greens)

My LYS stocks Lang Jawoll Superwash sock yarn, so I'm hoping I can find a blue that goes.

I am going to finish the second of a pair of socks that has been sitting on my needles for *coughmumble* longer than it should have. Just over halfway through the heel flap now, and reminded why I hate this kind of heel.
Socks, you say! I honestly don't think we've had any socks yet, we've had blankets, pillows, skirts, scarfs, but, no socks, @brigid-inghean-sheainn.
