this is the first in a [possibly small] series of pieces i'm planning on making! each involve fursona drawovers of a playset from my childhood - most of which i no longer have.

i went through a very low period in my early-mid teens where i felt immensely pressured to get rid of anything "childish," in order to appear more mature & grown up. now, i would give just about anything to have these toys back in my life. now, i'll have to rebuild slowly via resale sites.

this piece in particular features Butterfly Island Adventure; a Gen3 My Little Pony set from 2005! the juice bar in the middle had a magnet-feature where the glasses would fill/drain if a pony stepped on the little heart at the base of the bar. can't recall if anything lit up, though it did need batteries for something. the windup butterfly might've played a tune when it spun?

while i've never really had a strong connection to MLP as a whole, i loved the Gen3 cartoons & playsets. i think i actually liked the playsets better than the ponies lol

i don't have too much to say about Drift, other than i like the idea of being able to interact with toys "realistically/logically." the splash of water on what's actually a solid hunk of plastic; something something being able to put what you see in your imagination to paper, something something.

everything is intentionally a little crunchy - a little hazy, a little jpg burned. i'm trying to capture a "seared memory" feeling that accompanies my own nostalgia. it may not be exactly how it was, but the details that matter, that stuck, are there.
