VERSE SUMMARY - UNSUB
It was a profiler’s worst nightmare --- one of their own gone rogue. And that’s exactly what Aaron did after the murder of his ex-wife and son. Maybe he could have recovered from Haley, but seeing Jack’s tiny body covered in blood was too much, and his already fragile mentality shattered.
Nobody from his old life ever saw him again, but they knew of him. Knew he was the one killing people all over the country, stabbing them nine times before sending a bullet through their throat. The team knew, they knew it was their former friend, but finding him was the problem. 16 years in the FBI taught one something about how to be a criminal.
Aaron knew he’d become what he used to hate, he’d even profile himself sometimes - white male, late 30s to early 40s, comes from money, recently experienced a loss of some sort - but none of him could be bothered to care anymore. So he killed, and killed, and killed some more, trying to make the ache in his chest subside.

VERSE SUMMARY - TVD
From a young age, Aaron had awful luck. Born a witch but lacking any magic of his own, he spent as many years as possible hiding that fact. As a child, he’d siphon power from Sean, who didn’t want it anyway, which hid his defect from the other members of the coven. Except his parents, they saw right through him, and his father seemed to think that hurting Aaron was the way to correct this
In high school, he tried masquerading as a human. And this worked, along with attracting a human by the name of Haley Brooks. They fell in love and were married quickly, which meant that Aaron was even more of an outcast in his coven. Everything went brilliantly, until the year 2005.
Soon after the birth of their son, things started falling apart. Haley didn’t like that Aaron was on cases all the time, and he didn’t like lying to her about where he really was. Sometimes he was at work, but mostly ... mostly he was trying to fix himself. Fix his new-found vampirism, which proved a fruitless endeavour.
Only the Director and the Section Chief had to know. But Haley found out in 2008, and left him because of it. Two years later, the rest of the team found out after he drained the bastard that killed his ex. Even he couldn’t explain the blood in his mouth, and he was shunned for it. So he left the Bureau, and moved to a small town somewhere else in Virginia - Mystic Falls.
Turns out, that was a mistake. But the town was full of people like him, and nobody ever said vampires couldn’t be lawyers.
