Black Dog waits for Thee
Vintage oval dish with a collage of very rare transfers by Bev Milward.  A children’s plate and Brueghel landscape are combined with rare flowers and fungi to produce an unnerving internal landscape. The black dog is a term used for depression, warning that moods can change, highs become lows. Too much sugar can make you sick etc…

Abstract Plate by Scot Burgoyne
Strips of text of our workshop address (14 Hillgrove Street) written by graffiti artist 45 RPM combined with slices of vintage seafaring scenes. The graphic nature of the lettering and contrasts with painterly nature of the ships creating movement and depth.

Fine bone china Betty style teapot made in Stoke on Trent and surface pattern decorated by Bev Milward with an unattributed quotation donated by Mark Wilson activist and lead singer of punk band The Mob. This is combined with a traditional print used widely by Broadhurst Brothers in the 1970's and 80's.  I like to use a traditional motif in an unconventional way to compliment the punk aesthetic of the text.
