FAQ #1
Collected from the Ask box: What gave you the inspiration for this blog? For the time I have been lurking on Tumblr, there have been many comics I've seen people repost. It took time to learn that if I go to the original blog, there wasn't a guarantee they were the original artist. Which meant I couldn't follow them or reblog their art. And many others couldn't support them either. That's a shame.
How do you find time for the upkeep of this blog? It comes and goes.
What if I want to keep reposting things from others, but don't want to be labeled as stolen? Unfortunately, if you are posting something that isn't yours, and you don't have permission, it is stealing. However, the label "Stealing With Credit" is the best "Stolen" label if you do want to continue reposting. Here is a copy-paste template you can use:
Original MEDIA created by NAME on PLATFORM. Go support the original creator! For clarity, examples of MEDIA would be "art" or "video". NAME would be the creators' username on the platform you took the media from. Examples of PLATFORM would be "TikTok" or "Instagram".
The colorful text is not necessary. Please include an actual hyperlink to the original creator in the credit.
But reposting with credit isn't stealing, in my opinion? Okay. In my opinion, it is. As an example: there was this art piece that someone reposted. Even if the reposter gave credit, it would go against the artist's wishes of not wanting to have their art reposted anywhere.
To assume any/every creator is okay with having their creations reposted- even with credit- could cause harm to a lot of creators you love. That is why the best-case scenario of reposting is to repost with permission.
I am an artist, could you reblog my artwork so your followers can see them? Absolutely. Please submit a link to one of your Tumblr posts in my Ask Box, and I will reblog it with the Not Stolen rating, as well as one or two sentences describing the type of art you make. If you would like to write the one or two sentences yourself, please include it in the ask with the link to your post.
I am a reposter, could you go through my blog to reblog my posts as stolen? No. This blog is not used to target individuals. Its purpose isn't to cause fights, "cancel" blogs, or make people feel defensive. Its purpose is to encourage people to either stop posting other people's work, or to show them how to credit other people where potential supporters can see it.
Do you spend a lot of time vetting the Tumblr blogs of the artists you reblog from? It is not hard to tell the difference between blogs of original artists, and blogs that steal artwork. Most of the time on an artist's blog is spent going through their art tag to ensure the description I make is effectively descriptive of their art styles and interests. Those descriptions are to encourage people to follow them. You can see examples here.
Do you consider what you do to be snitching? What happens on this blog is I see a post of, say, a small TikTok creator, reposted on Tumblr. And I reblog it, citing the original creator and a visible, direct link to their TikTok account.
Do I report the Tumblr post? No.
Do I cite sources when the original poster is a large business or celebrity, like Mr. Beast or WalMart? No.
This blog does not care when large businesses are stolen from, physically or digitally. This blog cares about smaller creators being stolen from without supporting them.
Your banner and pfp are very reminiscent of cops, was that an intentional choice? When making the banner & choosing the profile picture, it was done with the Spongebob Squarepants "Patrick Saying Wee Woo" meme in mind. However, with the sending of this question, the idea of being compared to a cop is disgusting. It's understandable that cop-like colors and themes put individuals on the defensive, considering the many atrocities police across the world have committed against people. As of queuing this FAQ, the banner and profile picture have been changed.
I reposted that post without credit because I was feeling bad and it made me feel good. Do you hate my coping mechanism? If the original post made you feel happy/comfortable/better, then the original creator brought joy to your life. Wouldn't you want to give them credit where it's due for doing such a wonderful thing for you? Do right by the ones who make your life better.
Is sharing a post link over Discord/Tumblr/Twitter/Bluesky the same as reposting without credit? No.
I have permission to repost. Can you change the rating you reblogged it as? Absolutely. To prevent anyone from claiming that if it's not true, please send an ask with the exchange you had with the original creator where you received permission. It will be changed immediately.

The original photo was taken by _mayu_92, who's Instagram is full of food pictures of dishes they've had. A few favorites feature cute cakes, and colorful drinks.
Bonus Round! mayu credited poole.gin_store as the place where they took this photo! So the cakes and drinks are from there.
Bonus Round x2! OP blog's description says "i dont own any of the pictures", but has tagged many of their stolen photos- including this one- as "mine" 👎
