BIRMINGHAM CITY UNIVERSITY - CLIMATE LITERACY FOR SUSTAINABLE FUTURES
We are delighted to have begun studying on a skills bootcamp at Birmingham City University - Climate Literacy for Sustainable Futures. The course will provide us with new skills, knowledge, and a holistic understanding of climate literacy, as highly valued assets in the Net-Zero era. The UK government is committed to decarbonise and become net-zero by 2050. This means there is an urgent need across all industry sectors for employees with an understanding of sustainable strategies and how to apply them in real work contexts.

Tree planting season has begun.... We are excited to be working again with the Heart of England forest to helping to reverse centuries of woodland decline by creating and conserving a huge broadleaf forest for the benefit of the environment, wildlife and people. A place of enduring natural beauty, protected and secured for generations to come.

Conservation Areas exist to manage and protect the special architectural and historic interest of a place. Requirements can vary between Planning Councils, but generally, if you live in a Conservation Area you would need permission for a single storey extension (that extend more than 3 metres beyond the back wall of a semi detached or terraced house or 4 metres to a detached house), an extension to the back of a house with more than one storey, or any extensions at the side of a house. But it also applies to other buildings or structures on your land, such as garages and outbuildings. This garage in Shipston on Stour required planning permission plus a heritage statement for the demolition of an old bungalow to be replaced by a new garage, with a slighter bigger footprint.

What is Urban Greening Factor?

MAY 2023
Last week we joined the Landscape Institute Midlands branch on a field trip to Houlton. This was an exciting opportunity to see first-hand the innovative landscape design used to create this revolutionary housing development. Houlton is a shining example of harmonising with nature while preserving the local landscape. The scheme has set a strong foundation for nature across the site, and key to its success will be in managing the biodiversity and green infrastructure features in the right way
