ughhhh dental annoyance under the cut -- not graphic, just bellyachin'.

i had a cleaning recently, and they were like "we have GOT to sort out these two tiny cavities on your bottom teeth" so i was like "sure, let's book an appointment." They also remarked that I had some sensitivity on one side that never bothers me in my day-to-day (which i did say!) but made me flinch when they poked it with sharp metal implements.

so i had my appointment today for the cavity filling, and they filled the two cavities, great, thanks. The dentist then said something quietly to the dental hygienist, then asked me to tilt my head so she could see better. I comply, and then she starts doing some other procedure that I do not know what it is, without giving me an opportunity to ask what the fuck was happening.

anyway, they then proceeded to do something to the area that they'd said had some sensitivity (fine I guess??? I figured out what they were doing eventually) and then did more on the other side too?? And throughout, the only opportunities they gave me to talk were when they asked if I was in pain or if I needed numbing.

normally I don't mind the dentist, but this, I haaaaated.

the dentist left when she was done, having said something else quietly to me that i didn't understand. then I asked the hygienist what had just happened and she said, "fillings, then protection for where your gums are receding causing sensitivity." okay? sure??

so in the end, the procedure I thought would be around $100 came to $344 because they did three times as much shit as I thought they were doing, and also has kinda cost me an afternoon of work because I've been feeling fucked up about it.

"backstage at a live event" is perhaps my favourite human collective emotion ive ever experienced. From running through the creepy empty school hallways before a theatre show, to the staff only breakroom at a convention or event where youre running a stall, to the bridal suite getting ready before your bestie walks down the isle.
