        she’d been caught in the rain, and is absolutely drenched. hermione feels the heavy weight of viktor’s jacket settle around her shoulders and is warmed instantly - she supposes jackets thick enough to withstand the harsh winters of bulgaria do plenty for rain soaked witches. of course she knows a spell to remedy her damp state, but hermione decides this is slightly better. and viktor is being kind, so she accepts it. 

     “thank you.” she says, genuinely. “i’d been meaning to come and find you - how was practice?”

     she’s panicking. she never panics. well, over normal things at any rate. she’s an auror - not much sends her reeling in that regard. but this is - this is new territory. personal. remus’ voice still rings in her ears but tonks doesn’t like waiting either. hates it in fact. she’s all guns blazing and busting through doors and not at all subtle and not patient in the slightest. even as she stands there staring at the disarray of her parents’ living room. remus had been the first she’d thought to call, the first she trusts - except moody, and he’s away on a mission.

      her dad is dead.

   tears prick at her eyes as she sinks into the sofa. they’ve already taken his body away, the other aurors - and her mother for protection. she’s alone now, in this house that seems far too big and empty without them and still bears the marks of a fight.

          “remus - i . . . i couldn’t think of anyone else to call . . . “

      glinda has never been particularly close to nessa. especially since she’d pawned boq off on her some time ago. but she is the governor of munchkinland and as such, glinda is forced to spend time with her under the guide of business. so she does, but it doesn’t stop the strange sort of tension that simmers beneath the blonde’s skin. hesitant. but glinda is just bold enough to speak -

          “have you heard from your sister?”

i am still trying to find an fc for tonks that i like. nat tena is okay but not what tonks is in my head. part of me wants to use carey mulligan or elizabeth olsen tbh.

       she pinches the bridge of her nose, the words of the essay she’s attempting to grade swimming before her eyes. she’s behind on marking homework because of her devotion to the order and it’s demand. being in a war is exhausting and frankly minerva thinks she’s getting far too old for this. she barely glances up as her office door opens, determined to finish this one - but she’s lost her place and sighs heavily when she realizes. 

     “diana.” she greets, warily eying the blanket and tea. she doesn’t have time to sleep. but minerva is also intelligent and arguing with her niece is a path she doesn’t fancy following. “tea and a step away from my desk. i couldn’t sleep if i tried.” she tries to compromise (she’d be a liar if she said the tea wasn’t an alluring smell). “will that do?”

      “no, but it might make us both feel better.” hermione remarks quietly, brows furrowed neatly as she pours over the parchment before her. or pretends to. hard to when her mind is full to the brim with her sheer annoyance at the rest of her department at the ministry. she slams a book a bit too hard and winches instinctively at the action before she looks up to ginny with an apologetic look.  

       “please tell me you’ve come to pull me away for lunch. otherwise minister shacklebolt is going to have to find a new head of department because i intend to render the current one to have a pig’s head.”
