do people in the star wars fandom know that somehow causing your lover's demise is an incredibly common tragic/melodramatic trope that has been used in poems and plays for centuries (deianira,aeneas,othello,hamlet, you could even make a case for including romeo and juliet) and that it wasn't invented by lucas to show how much of an incel his main hero is.

the thing is all of the first six star warses ARE recognizably lucas-ian, for better or for worse, he did have a sensibility, & when people say it was marcia who was shadow directing the first three i do think that’s disingenuous and betrays a lazy “replace great man theory with great woman theory” thought process which isn’t super productive.
