❝    pardon me !   ‘scuse  me !   sorry !   ‘scuse !    ❞         a  crowd .   a  thick  crowd  with  loud  chatter   &   laughter  clashing  against  music .   khalid  couldn’t  remember  the  last  time  he’d  been  in  a  good  crowd .   he  couldn’t  remember  the  last  time  he’d  been  to  a  party !    well   ---   yes  he  could  actually .   his  tenth  birthday  party .   there  wasn’t  a  crowd  like  this  there ,  that’s  for  certain ,  but  it  was  a  party   &   it  was  the  only  one  he’d  been  to  in  the  twenty  four  years  between  then   &   now .   there  was  something  certainly  electrically  exciting  about  being  at  one  now .   he  came  here  just  to  check  on  jay  but  now ,  well ,  you’d  have  to  kick  him  out  to  get  him  to  leave .

snaking  through  the  dance  floor  to  try   &   find  a  good  spot  had  gone  mostly  well  enough .   all  up  until  he  trips  over  a  foot   &  crashes  into  a  nearby  person  until  he’s  half  leaning  on  them  for  support .          ❝    woah !   sorry  about  that !    ❞           as  he’s  looking  down  to  straighten  his  stumbled  feet  to  take  his  weight  off  her ,  though ,  there’s  something  that  catches  his  eye  on  the  edge  of  his  vision .   something  hanging  from  her  neck .   he  smiles  as  he  rights  himself  now .           ❝    i  like  your  little  genie  lamp !    i  really  think  that  kinda  decor  should  come  in  fashion .   loads  of  lamps ,  everywhere !    ❞

be  as  polite  as  you  can .   civil ,  maybe ,  was  a  better  word  for .   with  everyone .   not  that  manav  was  particularly  rude  or  rowdy ,  he  was  a  good  kid  with  an  understanding  of  the  jungle’s  law   &   that  quarrels  were  best  avoided ,  but  his  farther   &   even  the  wolves  still  put  emphasis  on  this  tonight .    &   he  knew  why .    people  connected  to  past  rivalries  were  a  risk .   he’d  yet  to  meet  both  khan  sisters ,  wondered  about  them  both ,  but  even  if  they  weren’t  their  father  remembered  to  keep  cautious .

he  gives  a  nod  to  her  in  acknowledgment .   a  smile .            ❝    that’s  a  nice  color  for  you .    you  look  nice .    whoever  you  came  with  must  be  lucky .    ❞

belle loved attending balls, she never got tired of them. it was something only started to do, when she became queen after she married adam and then continued doing for years to come. the red head loved to dance more than anything or ALMOST more than anything. ❝ so, how are you enjoying everything so far? ❞

parties  were  an  often  for  luc ,  but  hardly  were  they  parties  where  he  was  a  guest   &   not  a  servant .    not  that  he  hated  his  job ,  he  loved  serving     (  hadn’t  his  father  said  it  once ?   life  is  so  unnerving  for  a  servant  who’s  not  serving !  )     but  it  was  nice  to  have  small  breaks  where  he    (  somewhat  )    unwound  from  his  people  pleasing  habits  of  waiting  hand   &   foot .               ❝    oh ,  you  know  me ,  madame !    there  is  never  a  party  i  do  not  enjoy !   manifique !   i  love  it !    ❞

❝    i  didn’t  mean  to  trip !    it  was  an  accident .    ❞           it’s  always  an  accident .   as  soon  as  he’s  faced  with  her  that  statement  is  out  of  his  mouth  in  no  time .   he’s  not  even  sure  why  someone  told  him  to  come  along  with  the  crashing  party ,  he  hardly  cared  about  going   &   they  all  knew  his  track  record  of  accidents ,  but  some  part  of  him  suspects  it  may  have  been  for  the  sheer  sake  of  embarrsing  him .   not  something  he’d  put  past  any  child  of  hades .           ❝    i  got  the  lights  back  on   . . .   um .   have  i  told  you  that  you  look  great  tonight ?   you  do !    ❞

❝    hey ,  the  cups  at  this  are  plastic ,  right ?    ❞         puck  had  never  been  in  such  a  fine   &   posh  setting  his  entire  life .   ball  gowns   &   glittering  chandeliers  lit  the  room    ;    he  wouldn’t  be  the  least  bit  shocked  if  they  had  punch  glasses  of  crystal  or  something .   he  honestly  felt  like  him  touching  anything  would  cost  him  more  than  he’s  worth .          ❝    glass  and  me  sorta  don’t  do  well .    ❞

❝    do  you  mind  if   . . .  ?    ❞          puck  made  a  gesture  to  the  seat  near  her .   he  was  almost  positive  his  ankle  had  gotten  twisted  in  his  tumble  of  an  entrance .   the  other  crashing  VKs  seemed  intent  on  dancing  but  puck  wasn’t  intent  on  risking  more  damage  than  was  done .          ❝    unless  someone’s  already  sitting  there !    ❞

❝    mademoiselle !    ❞          genuine  delight  takes  up  his  features  as  he  slips  around  a  couple  to  reach  her .   a  moments  pause  then ,  as  a  greeting   &   a  habit ,  he  politely  gives  a  small  bow  to  her .   after  a  second ,  he  glances  up  with  his  grin  fully  back  in  place .    a  hand  goes  out   &   gestures  up   &   down  at  her  attire .          ❝    if  i  had  known  we  were  going  to  match ,    ❞           he  steps  back ,  now  gesturing  to  himself .           ❝    i  would  have  come  and  asked  you  to  accompany  me  this  evening !    ❞

❝    no  offense  to  the  decoration  team ,  but  i’m  almost  positive  we’ve  done  better  in  our  sleep .    ❞          it’s  pretty ,  but  a  poppins  kid  with  ample  amount  of  time  on  their  hands  could  really  go  all  out  in  throwing  together  party  decor .    not  to  mention  they  had  access  to  whatever  they  might  need  in  a  drawing .         ❝    we  should  be  on  the  decoration  team !   do  you  think  we’d  be  allowed  next  year ,  or  do  we  have  to  be  alumni ?    ❞

somebody  who  wasn’t  supposed  to  had  been  near  the  punch .   dahlia  stops  in  her  tracks  to  make  an  unpleasant  face  after  sipping  the  drink ,  quickly  realizing  it  wasn’t  just  punch .   seeing  her  sister  beginning  to  raise  her  own  glass ,  dahlia’s  hand  goes  out ,  fingers  lightly  pressing  on  ally’s  arm  to  stop  her .             ❝    actually  i  wouldn’t  drink  that     ---     i  think  it’d  be  best  if  we  tried  a  different  punch  table .    ❞
