I mean we all know Peter Dutton and his $13 million property portfolio is going to be *fine* but losing not only the election but also his seat… ohhhhhhh it’s gonna stay with him for the rest of his pathetic little life. And it’s our responsibility as Australians (and hell, get in on the fun non-Aussies!) to never let him forget it

I am by no means wearing rose coloured glasses about our country but I really do love that when we have elections a lot of the voting places, mainly churches and schools, have secondhand stores, book fairs, flower and plant stands, bake sales and, of course, barbecues. Especially this year, with the shadow of Trump hanging over us and the very real fear that Peter Dutton would be our next PM, I felt a sense of warmth looking at the plants and bouquets and the baked goods (that were labelled things like, “delulu with no solulu cupcakes”). And all these stalls were manned by parents and guardians of kids that went to that school. It was just a nice reminder that community still exists even when the world is shitty. And yes, I did have a democracy snag after voting.
