yearning is such a beautiful thing. what i love about yearning and slowburn is that while the romance progresses, you can get to know the characters better, which makes the audience see how deep the bond in the relationship is. all the small moments have meaning. every interaction, every thought, and every glance means something and is a way to emphasize how much love (platonic or romantic) the characters have for one another. there is something so beautiful about yearning because it's so human to want something so badly, but you have a part of you that is afraid you'll never get it. romantic or not, i love watching/reading characters find their person and learning all about each other, becoming so close and connected that it's hard to imagine life without the other. yearning to know more, yearning to be closer. it's so beautiful to me!

I also wanna talk about how interesting Nora explaining to Ellie what Joel did was.

I know we're tired of them bringing it up, spelling out Joel's actions, but this is the first time that we see Ellie confronted with that info. It's not the first time she's heard it, but we as the audience didn't know that (unless you played the games, obviously).

And her reaction is SO interesting. Because not only do we get her ackowledgment that she knows already, but she continues on with her mission.

We learn that she knows that Joel killed all those people in the hospital for her. She knows that he shot the doctor to save her, ruining the world's chances at a vaccine. She knows that he took away the one thing that was meant to make all the horrible things that have happened in her short life mean something.

She understands that Joel killed Abby's father, that she was filled with the same grief and anger that Ellie feels now. She knows exactly how Abby felt.

But she doesn't care.

She doesn't give a shit, and proceeds to torture and kill Nora for the information she wants. She still wants to kill Abby. She still wants to go ahead with everything, despite having Jesse and Tommy and Dina waiting for her.

We see Ellie go from not being able to look at Joel, to throwing everything away to avenge him. We finally see the three months of accumulated emotion burst out in this moment. We get to see how Ellie has truly been feeling, what the toll of Joel's death has done to her.

That simple "I know" marks the point of no return.

There is no way that Ellie can every truly come back from this.

can we all take a moment to acknowledge how genuinely INSANE all of this must look from jesse’s perspective??? just imagine.

your gf disappeared into the night with her mentally ill lesbian best friend without so much as a NOTE to you, so you abandon all of your newly adopted responsibilities to your people so you can go risk your life trying to track them down. when you do finally find their base, you (probably, we don’t know for sure, but probably) discover a TREASURE TROVE of positive pregnancy tests, presumably belonging to your (now, it’s looking like, ex) gf. the whole theatre smells like CUM. you heard a squish when you stepped on that carpet!! nothing in this lobby but pregnancy and cum!!!!!!! you eventually find her in a CAGE, while said mentally ill lesbian is being eaten ALIVE, and then after you get out that mf won’t shut the fuck UP with her stupid questions, and before you can even breath, your (ex) gf GETS SHOT. and then that crazy dyke takes forever to come BACK to the pregnant cum theatre, (probably) causing extreme distress for your pregnant (ex) (okay, yeah, now it’s DEFINITELY looking like she’s an ex) gf, and when the idiot does finally return, she has done nothing but bump up her body count and learn ABSOLUTELY NOTHING.
