honestly, nancy being so mad at the upside down makes so much sense. jonathan is confused why he'd be mad that things can never go back to the way they were, but will came back. he came back changed, yes, but he came back. jonathan got his brother back. joyce got her son back. mike got his best friend back. barb is never coming back. barb is permanent. of course nancy's still mad. of course she is. most of the cast would be losing their minds if will never came home, but for nancy, it's just her and barb's parents. and the latter can't even know what really happened. so it's just nancy. just her. alone. of course she keeps setting things on fire. of course she keeps taking stupid risks. why wouldn't she?

in season 1 nancy says she can't sleep after going into the upside down because every time she closes her eyes she sees the demogorgon, and in season 4 when vecna gets her he asks if she even remembers barb. do you think. do you think that's just nancy's trauma compounding on itself. like she thinks she SHOULD be feeling guilty about barb 24/7 but she faced the demogorgon and burned the mind flayer out of will and got cornered by that giant flesh monster in the hospital and then it came back in the cabin and in the mall and she's almost died a million times. but she's alive and she's not dead and barb dying isn't strictly speaking the worst thing that's happened to her and that must just eat her up inside
