9-1-1 fandom discourse is crazy wdym my choices are either 'eddie is abusive' or 'buck was being a self-centered baby who needed to be taught a lesson' 😭😭😭 wasn't the whole point that eddie lashed out in grief in a characteristically irrational and unfair way that was assholish and that he should apologize for (and DID, in a way that he and buck both understood), and that buck didn't realize the impact of his pain, even internalized, on others, because he's characteristically assuming that his pain doesn't matter, which IS self-centered in a paradoxically selfless way and should be unlearned (which he DOES try to, when eddie calls him out on it)???

"When did Buck turn gay?" my mother asks, as if she hasn't seen SIX FUCKING SEASONS OF THE QUEEREST QUEERBAITING TO EVER QUEER.
And of course it's only the white man that's canonically queer because they're too afraid of the sheer POWER a Mexican bisexual would have. Not that I'm disappointed Buck's queer but like. COME ON. LET THEM DATE.

Eddie kittened up to the idea that he and Chris will come back to LA and they’ll be living with Buck, and Eddie and Buck will be, like, you know. and they won’t need to talk about it or think about it or acknowledge it but it’ll work out and it’ll be them and it’ll be good. except Buck hightails it out of their house immediately spewing some nonsense about space, which—it’s not like Eddie and Chris needed that from him. and Eddie’s bewildered and whiplashed and has to numbly conclude that Buck doesn’t want them. him. which is fine because it’s not like Eddie wants him. it’s not like Eddie’s gay. he just thought—nothing. and now Buck’s acting like they’re the same best friends they’ve always been and everything’s normal between them and Eddie doesn’t get why it really doesn’t feel like anything’s going how it’s supposed to at all

being really into history is cooler than being into math or science… someone who likes math and science is called a “math nerd” or a “science geek” but someone who likes history is called a “history buff” because of their strong, sensual arms

I know I talk about this a lot but I honestly don’t understand how Eddie and Maddie are not best friends
They have had such similar childhoods with having to step up at a ridiculously young age, they both have terrible parents, they are notorious runners, they both practiced medicine before they ever went to Los Angeles (meaning they had a similar interest), they’re both shown to be musically inclined, they have a similar sense of humor, they both worked at dispatch, they are both parents to great kids and they both love Buck a ridiculous amount
How are they not besties? There was so much potential for a brother-sister relationship there!

buck gets drunk one night and starts telling eddie “you shouldn’t have been in texas. you should’ve been here.” and eddie sighs “i know, buck, i shouldn’t have moved, i should’ve brought chris home” and buck says “no. before that. you should’ve been here.” and eddie says “hm? before that i was here.” and buck says “NO. before THAT. you were in texas for so long, you were keeping chris from me for so long. for seven years.” he’s getting all weepy now. “did you not want to know me yet? i wanted to know you so bad. i missed you.” and eddie’s looking at his tearful little face, giving into the urge to lay a soothing hand against his cheek. he says “buck, you weren’t here yet either,” and buck says “i would’ve been. if you’d been here earlier, i would’ve felt it. would’ve come home. to you.”

The real tragedy of Buck's life right now is that if he treats Eddie like a boyfriend, which is what they both want, then his ex and his sister are like "but are you in love with him? Why are you two like that?" but if he treats him like he would treat any other friend, then Eddie's like "where's my fucking husband who promised to be by my side forever" . and of course the problem is that, Eddie, Buck hasn't promised that to you. but Eddie is both so far inside the closet that he can't admit what he feels for Buck isn't platonic and so in love with Buck that he can't be normal about him. So they're both in an impossible situation, Eddie in one where he wants a life partner in buck but he can't admit that to himself, and Buck in one where, being the one out of the two of them who is out of the closet, people will ask him "hey. what the fuck is up with you two" and he can't answer, because that would require admitting that he and his "straight best friend" are basically married. And it's such great conflict
