Something that struck me about Trigun Stampeded is how, in my opinion, Vash actually really does seem to be a character of faith. Spoilers for the last episode, but I'm thinking about his answer to Knives' question about why is he STILL believes in humanity and wants to save them. And his answer infuriates his brother (I still laugh at "After a century....THAT'S the best answer you could come up with???") because it's too simple and, frankly, bordering on stupid. To accept being hunted and chased until they settle down so he can settle down besides them? To still think that there is good in them that can be saved despite watching them exploit the plants, the planet, and even each other? Yeah, pretty stupid...and yet that's what makes Vash a character who really understand what faith/belief is
