You cannot convince me that he would not be the sweetest partner ever!

And boyfriend of the year award goes to...!

The second he sees/hears that you’re drunk, he’s got you

He’s by your side

If he’s picking you up, he’s bringing you a comfy hoodie of his, along with snacks, water, and a change of shoes just in case

When he gets to you, he’s not necessarily panicked, but he doesn’t waste time, making sure you’re okay, and tending to you

He’s just so damn gentle with you, it’s cute -

He’ll zip you up in the hoodie, and sit you down on a bench or stool as he kneels in front of you to help you change into the comfier shoes

He won’t complain when you accidentally tug at his hair a little too hard whilst playing with it, he’ll just wean you off gently with a gentle kiss on your palm before entwining your fingers and getting up

As you make your way home, oh, it’s so soft - the way he’s listening intently to your every word (even when it doesn’t quite make sense), the little twitch of admiration that tugs at his lip as you jump ahead of him in excitement, the fondness that gleams in his eye as you wrap yourself in his arms

He’ll hold your hair back, clipping/tying it away, and rub soothing circles into your back if you’re feeling queasy

Later on, he’s patting your back rhythmically to lull you into a dreamland even in his sleepy haze

“Careful, love,” he helps you take a seat on the bench, “it’ll only take a moment,” he assures your restless body as he exchanges your shoes for a comfier pair - at least he tries to.

“I wanna gooooo,” your squirm and whine endlessly until you fix on the fluffiness of Juyeon’s hair, “floof” you giggle as you pet it. Though, that doesn’t last too long because in a bit to be closer to him, you accidentally tug a bit too hard.

“Okay, darling, gentle,” and he’ll detangle you from his head before bringing your palm to his lips. With another kiss on your finger tips, he laces your fingers through, before pulling you towards him. He’ll place a final peck on your forehead before you’re both on the move again.

Moon Kevin (~398 words)

I think Kevin’s reaction would depend on how drunk you are: he’s either going to be really chill about it or displeased.

You can definitely tell, even in your state of disinhibition

Chill Kevin will greet you with a smile, maybe a hug, and give you a little nudge to alert you that the night is coming to an end

Displeased Kevin might give you a light scolding but I highly doubt it will be anything too firm, more so just pure worry or slight exasperation (typically when you’re not feeling very co-operative which - albeit rare - happens on occasion)

Either way, he’s not mean or anything; he’s just not scrambling for words

He lets you fill the silence between you as he helps you pull your hoodie on, drink water and then takes you home

If you’re home, he’s got you water and snacks, he’s making sure it’s not too cold in the apartment - just small, basic things that make a world of difference later

Through it all, he’s not completely mute though, he’ll hum, and respond to everything you say because he’s not ignoring you - it’s not a punishment for goodness sake

His responses are just a little more short, a little less enthusiastic than usual

And it’s simply because his mind is focused on getting you safe and more sober

It’s for that reason that his first instinct is to place one hand to your forehead to check your temperature and the other on your shoulder or waist to steady you

He’ll stay up a bit to make sure you’re okay and set, and he'll even set painkillers and water on the bedside table

In the morning, he’s a step ahead of you, and he’s got breakfast and hangover remedies prepared, and many many tales of your wild night

You look at the spread laid before you and you can’t help but wince, “do I want to know…?”

He just grins, “I’m not sure what you’re talking about. Could it be the 38 texts - you sent 7 when I went to the bathroom. Oh wait, I know! Maybe you’re talking about how you almost convinced security that I was abducting you because I, what was it you said, ‘stole Kevvy’s face’? Or, and this one’s my favourite-”

“That's enough!” you cut him off - memories of the night hitting you at once, “I’m never drinking again.”

Choi Chanhee (~386 words)

It's rare for you to be drunk without the other but the times it does happen, Chanhee is nagging you whilst tending to you

You both typically prefer drinking together

When you’re drunk together, you’re essentially high on life, giggling together in a huddle like you’re back in high school, speaking only in comically loud whispers, even zoning out together before spilling into laughter

In those moments, you’re just two best friends hanging out, enjoying each other’s company

He’ll make sure to arrange for some form of transport when you’re both out so you can enjoy yourselves to your hearts’ content

Now, when you drink without him, oh goodness, he’s so vigilant - he makes sure you don’t exceed your limits

Otherwise, you know that famous Chanhee scowl he does? The little annoyed one (but beneath it all is love)? That’s probably the second thing he does when he sees you drunk

The first? He’s asking how much you’ve drunk, and trying to gauge just how out of it you are

He’ll take care of you quietly whilst nagging you throughout

I wouldn’t be surprised if, at first, the nagging had upset you, simply not because he was mean about it, but rather you misunderstood it as you having annoyed him (which embarrassingly led to tears)

But through conversations and time, you’ve come to understand, it’s just him worrying about you

Also, if he thought you loved him sober, drunk you could not get enough of him!

So his nagging really doesn’t last very long because he’s laughing at/along with you before relenting with an awe-filled sigh , “let’s just get you home and cleaned up”

“Did you really have to get this drunk?” he’d sigh, mock exasperation seeping through as he wrapped your jacket around you snugly and, at your sputtering, he’d push the hair out of your face.

You simply poke his cheek in response before giggling, poking the other, and giggling again.

Anyone else, he’d be perturbed, annoyed, weirded out. He’d scowl at them. But with you? His gaze melts into warm pools of honey as he’s staring directly back at you. With another audible breath, this time laced with a deep fondness and joviality, “what have I got myself into? C’mon, let’s get you to bed.” And he does exactly that with one arm wrapped around your back and the other on your elbow.

Ji Changmin (~418 words)

The hardest to write for some reason but he's either scolding you or laughing at you

Changmin would be the type to scold you, his stern tone faltering to worry whenever you stumble over your own feet

It’s not a harsh scolding, rather an exasperated one because when you get drunk, you made sure to get real drunk

Though on occasion, he’s (unsuccessfully) fighting the urge to laugh whenever you do something even the slightest bit silly, especially mid-chiding, which happens way too many times

He’s hiring a cab to take you both home simply because he needs to nurse you in the backseat whilst complaining to you about your drunkenness in hushed tones

His chastisements cease the second you’re clinging to him, opting to wrap an arm around you whilst delivering faint pats to your head/back

At some point, his palm resorts to gently holding the side of your head so that, amidst your swaying - which only increases as your energy depletes -, your face doesn’t smush against the car window

It’s at this point he begins reciting your favourite stories in soothing, secretive whispers, despite knowing you’re taking less than half of it in

When you’re home, he’s helping you get as comfy as he can manage before tucking you in with water at your bedside

Alternatively, he finds it hilarious and laughs outright as you wade through the drunkenness

The kind of laugh that has his head thrown back and his hands clapping together in wild glee

He’ll essentially mimic your energy to get you home, having learned from experience that he had no chance at wrangling you back with force

If you’re hyper, he’d record you dancing, giving up very quickly on helping you with any moved

When you get tired/slightly more sober, he’ll sigh, a “what are we going to do with you” kind of sigh, but even he can't hide the fondness permanently etched in his smile

Would probably take a few photos of you grinning in your sleep - because what kind of boyfriend would he be if he didn’t?

He pulls his jacket around you tighter, trying to warm you up. “Hey. Stop. You’ll get cold and sick,” he admonishes, his tone serious, when you try to resist through your shivering.

But even he can’t help the chuckle that slips through when you slip away, making hurried toddler steps.

He’ll let you think you’re getting away, “oh no, you’re too fast.” But then you stop to look back, and that’s when he gently tugs you into his arms, “gotchu. C’mon, little monster, home time.”

Post-script Okay so I had a bit of a difficult time with Changmin and Kevin's one for this but I can definitely see them both leaning towards scolding y/n a little. I had so much fun thinking up Chanhee's one (I don't know if that comes across) and I just knew Juyeon's one would be sweet though, I wish I'd written his scenario bit (part after the bullet points) a bit differently since that had already been described but I didn't want to delay this one any further for fear of losing momentum (not sure if this makes sense). Ju Haknyeon (~377 words)

He’s all about keeping you happy and safe, even when you're drunk and so he plays along with you

He'll make sure to grab your water bottle and favourite snacks for you to have - whether he’s taking them with you or taking them to you, he’s got them

And if he can’t for whatever reason, well, that just means a trip to the convenience store for the both of you because there’s no way he’s going to make you wait that much longer for him when you’re drunk

When he’s with you, he does a quick check to make sure you’re okay on the whole

Though, you’re a bit resistant, informing him (rather sternly) that you have the “bestest husband in the big wide mega-ultra-universe” (your words not his) which is great and even has Haknyeon proud until you realise that your husband hasn’t even made it beyond the boyfriend stage yet

And Haknyeon is so swept up in your emotions that he almost tells you to break up with said boyfriend-not-husband before realising it’s him and backtracking, to comfort you some other way instead whilst mentally promising to fix that one day

When you’re not emotional over your relationship status, you love to drawl about any and everything

And whatever babble you spew in your drunken haze, he gladly goes along with it because he just loves how your eyes light up when he agrees or adds to it

You think that lamp post is suspicious? Well, then he’s certain it’s been sharing government secrets.

Even though you’ve literally got your arm up to keep him exactly at arm’s length, Haknyeon is looking at you with stars in his eyes. Well stars, a little bit of laughter, and second-hand embarrassment. “Your husband asked me to take you home, so let’s do that, okay?”

You're nodding when suddenly, “oh no!” You frown, stretching out your hand in front of you, “i hav nooooo husband,” and the tiny quiver in his lip makes him think you’re about to cry, so he rushes

“How about we go home so you can ask your boyfriend to marry you?” and at that, you squeal with glee, and you let him guide you home as you natter on about ducks or something.

Kim Sunwoo (~315 words)

He's simply amused by the situation and embarks on teasing you

Sunwoo revels in the moment - it’s not often that you get drunk like this but when you do, it’s a comedy show in itself

Sunwoo might take a few photos and videos here and there

But not too many since he's so lost in you

That and the fact that he needs his hands free to better protect you from your clumsiness, and so he slips his phone into his pocket just as quickly as he’d had it out

He’s gushing and teasing little drunk you

I wouldn’t be surprised if he even bickers with you a little, just because it’s always fun to do so and adding alcohol to the equation only makes for double the enjoyment

When you stick your bottom lip out in angry pout, he only teases you more

You’re just too damn adorable when you’re drunk

It’s only when you’re stomping your foot and whining like a child that he stops, though the amusement never leaves his smile

He might entertain you for just a little bit, allowing you to direct him to a park

If he’s picking you up, he’s taking snacks for you to ease your stomach a bit but also because he knows how excited you’ll be over them

He’ll 100% tease you about it the next few weeks or so but for now, in the moment, he simply lets himself enjoy taking care of you

“Ifyoooou don't stohp… im gon’ tell the poh-leeeeeessss. They’ll rest you! And yooooou will be trapped! Forevah!”

“Yeah, yeah, you baby. I’ll dial them for you, myself, but first, let’s get you home,” he laughs as your chewing sends crumbs flying everywhere. With a shake of his head and a reminder to "slow down, babe", Sunwoo's hand perches on your waist to keep you up whilst he guides you home.

Sohn Eric (~377 words)

He just needs to capture this. You're too adorable (and great material to tease you with later). Though, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of the videos are terrible - like the focus is on the ground kinda bad - because most of his attention is on you, and not the screen.

If anyone is going to be recording, it’s Eric

He can’t help it, you’re just so cute and funny when you’re drunk

You lose all concept of shame and have a confidence boost which for some reason translates into you being extra flirty with Eric

Which sounds fine… except you have no game

So your flirting is really just words strung together in some nonsensical manner and you cracking up at your own lines - if you can call them that

It almost always ends the same way: you try to perform some weird talent or something, Eric grabs onto you before you can fall, and you revere him as your “knight in terh-ble awrmour”

And on the the really lucky nights, it’ll be followed by your giggling and attempts at pirate sounds “arrgh”

Amidst all the laughter and playing along, he’s still got your hand in his knowing you like to be close to him, he’s guiding you away from uneven patches in the ground, he’s holding you up - even piggy-backing you if you’re too out of it

He’s holding your hair back if needed, he’s rubbing soothing circles into your back

If there’s even a small change in your demeanour, he’s noticing and immediately responding to it without a fuss

If you’re out, he might even ask one of the guys to help him bring you home so that he can properly take care of you and tend to your drunken-clinginess (your true final form) in the backseat

“You!” You dramatically shove your finger in his face, “my speshulll angle.”

“Do you mean angel, baby?” he’s holding back his laugh but he can’t hide it from the camera.

“No! No no no! Acute angleeeee, you’re angleeeeeeeeee” you try to pat his cheek but end up tripping into his arms instead where he so gladly holds you.

“I hope you remember this tomorrow,” he’ll bring a water bottle to your lip, “c’mon, let’s get you sober.”

Post-script I feel like their reaction to you getting drunk for the first time vs getting drunk when they're used to it would be slightly different but not massively so. I went with the latter for maknae line but if you want my take on the former, I think some of them would be the same, just more concerned. I can write it up at a later date if anyone is interested. You cry out as the thunderstorm got louder, holding your knees closer to your chest, eyes closing tightly as the lightning light up the sky, body shaking even before you could hear the clouds colliding against one another up in the sky, lips trembling as you couldn’t move from the couch to go to your room, not that it would make it any easier, it’s just that there you could hide undercovers.

You couldn’t even wear headphones or play games to distract yourself, too scared of what could happen, you understand exactly how things work but nothing would ever change your mind and make you feel safe even when you’re home, and that lightning didn’t help any fucking thing. Summer always got the worst of you for pulling this shit out of nothing.

Your roommate sits by your side, staring at the window like the world isn’t falling outside. He touched your back carefully, calling your name.

_ Are you okay? — Sunwoo’s face is illuminated with the lightning, brows kittened together as he looks at you, his usually smiley face no longer there as you moved closer, arms wrapping around his torso as you hide your face on his chest right when the loud thunder echoes.

_ Make it stop. — you cry out again.

_ I can’t make it stop, I ain’t no god. — he talks back in the same sarcastic way like he always does, but this is way softer. He caresses your back and let you hug him. — Are you that scared of thunderstorm?

_ My heart is about to explode. — you admit, voice small as you snuggled closer, his hands instinctively going to cover your ears as the loud sound of thunder echoes again.

_ It’ll pass, I promise. It usually won’t even last 2 hours. It’s been a while since it has started.

_ I hate it so much. — you want to cry so badly. Sunwoo pats your back, making you look up at him.

_ What do you do to distract yourself?

_ I cover my ears and my eyes and apologize for being a bad person, maybe God will take pity on me this way.

He chuckles.

_ I was going to my room, want to come with me?

_ I can’t even go to mine.

_ I’ll keep you company, we can talk about movies or something. It won’t be that bad, I promise, at least you won’t be alone. — Sunwoo raises his brows.

You pounder for a second, the loud noise outside startling you. Your nails digging into his forearms as you feel your heart racing again, nodding, lips trembling.

He takes your hand, leading you in front of him as he uses his phone’s flashlight so you won’t trip over anything. As soon as he closes the door of his room you rush to his bed, eyes wide as he closes the windows, the darkness embracing you. It feels even more scary now that he’s away.

_ Please, come here. — You cry out from frustration.

_ Shhh I’m here. — you feel the bed dipping with his weight when he lay down, hand grabbing your arm and pulling you down with him. — What do want to talk about?

_ I don’t know?

_ Should we stay in silence, then?

_ can you talk about you.

_ hmmmm when i was younger i was scared of zombies. I watched all that famous zombie movies in a week with my hyung. And then I couldn’t sleep at night because i was terrified, but I couldn’t tell my mom, she couldn’t find out that I skipped school when she was working all day. But somehow she knew about it? I’m not sure if the school called or it’s just a mom thing, but I don’t remember telling her I was scared or that I couldn’t sleep, the eye bags under my eyes and dark circles were nothing compared to how I looked when i stayed up playing videogames. So, one day, she was watching thriller. — he looks at you, chuckling — Like, the Michael Jackson song, and it was past 8pm I guess? i don’t remember but it was really dark outside, and when I saw that I was terrified. I couldn’t move at all, but I wouldn’t get up and leave when all the lights were out ‘cause i was peeing myself. She just stared at me with a blank expression and said “you wouldn’t be so terrified if you went to school” and I swear my eyes started sweating.

_ Eyes sweating? — you giggle.

_ Yeah, I wasn’t crying, my eyes were sweating. — he explained. — Then my mom told me I could sleep with her since my dad wouldn’t come home that day. She hated having the lights on but she didn’t even tried to switch it off, I remember that she sang me to sleep and somedays she’d lay by my side in silence until I feel asleep. She ended up giving me a dog, telling me they’d protect me if I let them sleep close to me. I was so in love with the cute pet that I eventually stopped caring about it. Sure I still get goosebumps sometimes, but I can deal with it.

_ So… You’re my dog. — it sounds like a question.

_ For the day? yes. — he proudly says, the room silent after that. It was comfortable.

You break the silence when you hear the thunder, snuggling closer, barely seeing him in the dark.

_ Can you sing me to sleep then?

_ I’m not good at singing tho. — you can tell he’s embarrassed.

_ I just wanna hear your voice, it soothes me. — you admit in a small voice.

He doesn’t say anything at first, trying to change the subject as he turns the flashlight on, getting the blankets to pull it over both of you, light illuminating his features before he moved it higher, so you both could see each other.

_ You can sleep here, if you want to. — he says, making eye contact from the other side of the bed. You nod, patting the bed so he can get closer. Sunwoo smiles. — Why do you look so cute?

_ Cute enough to get a song?

_ You don’t know when to stop — He tsks, poundering, watching you as you get even closer. The boy hesitates. — Want me to keep it on? Does it make you feel better?

You nod, going to his open arms.

He holds you against his chest, one hand brushing your hair as he cleans his throat, humming the melody before his soft voice is heard, his thumb caressing the back of your neck, his other hand touching the small of your back to keep your bodies close.

You’ve never touched him like that, never been this close from him before, your heartbeat is increasing quickly as you get too distracted because of his body lotion and warm skin, your fingers tugging at his shirt before wrapping your arms around him hesitantly. His soft voice echoing in the small room.

_ Thanks Sunwoo. — you mutter against his chest when he finishs the song, he smile thinking you’re about to fall asleep, but weirdly you’re wide awake. The boy kiss the crown of your head, moving his face down so he can be eye level with you, you open your eyes only to see his closed, lips moving as he murmured the last words of the song, fingers that were playing with your hair now holding your face close, thumb brushing your cheek slowly. You try to move away, too afraid that he can feel your heartbeat against his chest, and his face is too damn close, you could kiss him if you moved your face up a few centimeters.

You hold your breath at the thought, Sunwoo opening his eyes when you stiffened, brows furrowing again. He doesn’t seem to mind the proximity, but you do, he looks even better with his eyes open.

_ What is wrong, y/n? — his voice sounds so hoarse when he whispers, like he was already falling asleep. You shook your head and he chuckles, holding your breath again as he moves closer, taking in every detail as he looks at you. — Then why are you holding your breath?

He giggles when you let it out, avoiding his eyes and looking down.

You stay like this for a while, his eyes scanning your features as the minutes pass by.

_ It’s almost over. — he pulls away, head touching the pillow as he brings your hand up, kissing the back of your hand, fingers lacing with yours.

_ What? — you stare at him.

_ The thunderstorm. It’s almost over, you can tell by how distant the sound is getting. — he kisses your knuckles this time, wiggling his eyebrows lips as you watch him. — What, are you too busy paying attention to my looks to realize what is going on?

_ You kinda distracted me. — you admit, his thumb caressing the back of your hand.

_ Can I distract you again then? — he asks, tangling his legs with yours as he lows down your hand, letting your fingers go so he can touch your face again. You smiled at him, your own hand now touching his cheeks now. He takes it as a yes, lips touching yours, giving you with a soft kiss as he pulled you even closer, his tongue now touching yours as he deepened the kiss, making you forget everything around both of you, kissing and holding you against his chest. Pulling away only to smile before he pecks your lips, doing it again and again, rolling in the bed with you from now and then as he kissed you. Kisses getting heated, having you under and on top of him, cuddling you as he peppered your face with light kisses.

He smiled as he pulled away from you, hand grabbing yours again. Avoiding your eyes.

_ Would it be weird if I asked you out? — his voice sounds so small, your heart racing and you swear he can hear it. You shake your head. Sunwoo feels his hopes getting higher, not even holding his excitement, too happy to play it cool. — Y/N… Wanna go out with me? — he whispers against your lips, the smile growing on his face as you mumbled a yes. You don’t even hear the rain starting again outside. Too focused on the way his fingers laced with yours when he kissed you again.

- he’s a little awkward but it’s even more awk bc of how cute you are to him in public, you keep saying he’s hot and you’d date him “if it wasn’t for my boyfriend, haknyeon”

- he tucks you in bed at home and keeps kissing you on the cheek

- he keeps on smiling at your angel face and ends up falling asleep with you

- you think he’d be mad, but he’d be extremely worried for you

- he’d piggyback you to home since it was nearby and make sure you weren’t too cold

- he’d try hard to make the perfect hangover soup and comforts you the next day

- this was the first ever time this happened and he was worried smt might have stressed you out and you didn’t know
