As some of you know, last year we did a stream for Operation Anti-Loneliness organised by the Red Cross. This year we are doing it again, we will be streaming 8pm BST on September the 24th. Come join us if you want to support us.

The kids felt unrealistic, the elves looked like cats, and why does Santa speak Elvish? That came out of left field.” Nic: “This movie feels really strange. I came out of it feeling like I’d seen 2 movies. A unique Santa movie and a very generic Christmas movie with two kids. The elves are horrible, they look like cheap CGI minions rip offs.”

What you did like about the movie:

The animation style was beautiful.

The fighting was pretty good, until that last scene with Joker and Batman.

The costume designs.

The sound in general is really good

Weapons choices were mostly good.

The characterization of most characters.

Gorilla Grodd saving Damien.

Unpopular opinion: Harley and Joker’s relationship in this movie.

What you didn’t like about the movie:

THE GUNDAMS. NO ONE ASKED FOR THE GUNDAMS.

MONKEYS AND BAT DON’T WORK LIKE THAT.

The last Batman/Joker fight. That’s not how you use a katana and that’s not a katana, that’s a cutlass.

Vic: “While this movie was a good movie, there were quite a few issues that meant that the movie was definitely not as good as the trailer.”

Nic: “This was an alright batman movie but a phenomenal anime movie. The animation is an 11, there were some problems with characterization AND NO ONE WANTED THE GOD DAMN GUNDAMS AND KAIJU.”

Dameon Clarke.

Matthew Gray Gubler.

The motivational speaker bit.

The mockumentary style.

Particularly memorable scene:

Vic: The scenes after Mike kills Abigail.

Nic: The blonde scenes.

Vic: “I never thought that a movie about being a serial killer would be so delightful, but I really enjoyed myself with this movie. Dameon Clarke did a fantastic job acting as a serial killer and Matthew Gray Gubler did a wonderful job acting as the apprentice.” Nic: “This movie is great. It’s a funny serial killer movie with two damn great actors. There’s not much in blood and guts. And the mockumentary and motivational speaker segments are amazing.”

Vic: “While this movie wasn’t absolutely one of my favourites, I will say that it was good and I did appreciate watching something from her childhood and connecting with her on that.” Nic: “This is one of my childhood movies and I love it. Christopher Walken just acts way better with bears than he does with humans. It’s just bizarre and funny.

What you did like about the movie: Phillipe was great. Matthew Brodrick just being him Victor ‘Animal’.

What you didn’t like about the movie: THAT THEY KILLED THE BABIES.

Particularly memorable scene: Vic: The scene with the baby being nudged and then the subsequent glaring. Nic: The elevator scene.

Would you watch it again: Vic: Hell yes. Nic: ALWAYS

Reflections: Vic: “I honestly forgot to take notes about this movie because I just enjoyed it so much. I was just so enthralled by the massive lizard and the babies and just everything and I enjoyed myself.” Nic: “This was my first proper monster movie as a child and it still lives up today. I love this movie, its fun, its funny, also sad, it’s got my favourite french man in. It’s a good movie.”

What you did like about the movie:

Danny Devito’s character. We both loved him.

Matthew Brodrick was pretty good.

The sets were really amazing, especially the outdoor scenes.

We liked Buddy and Tia’s relationship, it was super cute.

Honestly, we liked all of it.

Nothing.

Particularly memorable scene: Vic: THE ENDING. BECAUSE SPACE. Nic: The ice skating race.

Buddy is such an icon with wanting his house to be seen from space.” Nic: “I love this Christmas movie, I saw it as a kid and it’s always been a good movie. What you did like about the movie:

The creativity of the story.

Jack as a character.

For the 90s, the CGI was pretty okay.

The best friend was pretty cool.

The bully as character, not as a bully

The children and the dog actor. Best actors.

What you didn’t like about the movie:

Creepy snowman. Why did he take his head off to look in the window???

Snowman physics doesn't make sense.

Charlie wasn’t nice.

Plot was easily predictable.

Emotion of the movie was shallow

Particularly memorable scene: Vic: The last hockey game. Nic: The stupid snowboarding scene with the amazing flips then the kids going 2 miles an hour.

Reflections: Vic: “I watched this movie a few times during my childhood and honestly the Nostalgia filter was running over this movie when I remembered it. I honestly thought it would be better.” Nic: “This was a hallmark movie. It did what is said in the trailer. Not too deep, didn’t go anywhere interesting. It’s an alright movie, not worth a second watch.”

What you did like about the movie:

Jack Frost was pretty great. His character design and just everything about him.

Tim Allen is a great actor.

The elves were good.

The bloopers at the end of the movie was nice. That’s not really done anymore.

The set designs were really good.

Costumes were also really good.

Sandman as a character was interesting.

The CGI and practical effects were good for their time.

Lucy was cute.

Reflections: Vic: “I’d honestly forgotten how much I enjoyed this movie until I rewatched it. I loved the characters and even though the story was overdone, I still really enjoyed it.”

Nic: “This was a slightly nostalgic movie for me even though I haven’t seen it before. The animation style reminds me of a lot of shows and movies I saw as a child. It’s an overdone story but a cute little movie.”

Final quotes: Vic: “This was such a nostalgic trip for me and I forgot how much I enjoyed this movie, even if Heat Miser’s singing was awful.” Nic: “It’s a quaint little christmas movie. ”

The Nutcracker 3D/The Nutcracker: The Untold Story (20??)

We started off already with problems with this movie. Nic got it for free on Amazon Prime, Vic couldn’t even buy it on Amazon Prime. 3 of the sites Vic watched it were like a minute behind. We had a break down half way through the movie. And the internet cannot decide on what year it was released, even Amazon can’t make up its mind, on Prime it’s 2011, on blu ray it’s 2009 and on IMDB and wikipedia it’s 2010.

What you did like about the movie:

The practical effects were pretty good.

Most of the characters were good

Gielgud.

The CGI except for the rats

The sets and backgrounds were amazing.

What you didn’t like about the movie:

THE FUCKING RATS, THE CGI ON THEM.

Would you watch it again: Vic: Unfortunately, yes. Nic: Yes.

Reflections: Vic: “I’m so confused by this whole movie. The bad things were good and the good things didn’t really change my opinion that much? It’s so weird. I’m so confused.”

Nic: “This is a very strange movie, I don’t quite know how to explain it but the bad things in the movie sort of enhance it. They didn’t have to go this hard for this movie but they did and it looks amazing. “
