My Tram Experience

Sorry if this is a bit of a mess at the moment but this was done on a spur of the moment instinct and so is a bit mucky. I will edit it and polish it up, but in the mean time tell me what you think , check out the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uy8_Z5b3yBw  And I shall try and get a webcam to make 2 different version of the report.

Most people will have seen the video on youtube entitled 'My Tram Experience'. Although it was recently taken down the video shocked many people and for good reason. The video contained a scene inside a tram where a woman with a child on her knee swore viciously about and at a group of ethnic minority passangers.

I feel that the woman , who has now been arrested, was indeed out of line. However she spoke the perverse thoughts of an ever growing ideology encouraged by support from political groups such as the BNP. What these people fail to realise is that immigrants help Britain in a number of ways , and the stereotypical view that immigrants just come to Britain to live off the welfare state couldn't be more wrong. As research from the BBC shows, at first glance it appears that some ethnic groups do indeed need more help and support from the government than others , however this does not mean that they are lazy as the following statistics taken from the BBC website show ."white citizens receive 73% of their income from wages, salaries and self-employed income, the figure is higher among every other ethnic group with the exception of Pakistani/Bangladeshi.

People of mixed ethnicity and Asian British get 79% of their income from work. The figure for those of Indian ethnicity is 83%, black/black British 76%, black Caribbean 75%, black non-Caribbean 77% and Chinese 78%." 

This shows that the majority of immigrants do indeed work hard, despite blatant racism that exists covertly and overtly in a large number of areas. Its understandable that people newly entering the country will need more aid than those already settled. The reason for the amount of support claimed from other ethnic groups is arguably higher due to the lower wages they receive. Racism and prejudice towards particular ethnic groups is very much alive in particular areas of Britain as a recent investigation ,by the television show Panorama, found. The research by Mark Dalys ,in a covert role, also proved that a large amount of racism existed within the police force. Despite claims that this has been dealt with ,figures and other factors claim otherwise. A perfect example of this is the murder case of Stephen Lawrence whose life was brutally ended in 1993 and prompted questions about the police force as it was claimed the original enquiry was 'institutionally racist'. 

Illegal immigrants however are also causing Britain massive problems. By taking free education , health care and benefits from the country without paying taxes they are putting a strain on economical resources which they don't have legal rights to. Unfortunately many people are starting to stereotype all immigrants as a problem, this is due to a number of reasons but mainly negative media attention , marginalisation and the creation of immigrant folk devils. This morale panic caused by the deviance amplification of the media is starting to create a racist society and creating the views that were expressed by the woman in the video.

University. What will it cost you ?

After visiting several universities over the previous weeks ,I am starting to see why people are dissuaded from further education by the prospect of a student loan. I personally cannot afford to pay all my university fee's up front, and the idea of being in debt at the age of 18 is truly horrific. Has the increase in university fee's effected your decision ?

Friday Football is held every Friday without fail and has done for 3 years no matter what date it is or the weather, and once a year we battle it out in the last game of the season for the Carlos Edwards Cup. This cup has been dedicated to the brilliant player and is possibly the most competitive noncompetitive game.
