building on the last post, we generally see our fictional sources similar to how mythfolk see the myths and stories surrounding their types too: stories are ways we interpret the world and learn from it, but you also wouldn’t expect it to be a 100% accurate record of your species/yourself. the person we see on the screen is a fictionalised shorthand representation of who we are/were. i think it makes it easier for us to talk about our sources from a meta viewpoint since it isn’t literally us on the screen + we just plain don’t like bringing up we’re fictionfolk in unrelated fandom spaces in general

the best joke scp is the one where the scp itself is just typical mediocre normal scp fare (dark matter bracelet that kills people) but the joke is that the scientists behave like scp community members instead of actual scientists
