"You haven't, Marchesa?" Was it because his glasses got in the way? And here Miles thought his glasses wouldn't impede such an observation. Though it was always possible that it could have the opposite effect. "Do you think I should give contacts a try then? So you can see them more easily?"

"Now you're just being dramatic." Although Lettie couldn't help the small smile that started forming on her face, glancing up from where her head was resting on his leg, her hand reached up to play with his hair. "Surely there's more to it than just me, so I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt.~"

Lettie finally pushed herself to sit up, looking at him and studying his face for a moment before tilting her head to the side, pursing her lips and going to lay back down.

"and if it has to do with me complimenting you...mmmaaaybe you can worm some out of me, MAYBE.~"

"Well you certainly give me plenty of reasons to smile, Lettie." Even though Altair was turning up the charm, as he always did when around the other, he was telling the truth. Lettie was one of the main reasons he could give an honest smile these days. With the constant pressure from his family, the curse still lingering over him, and his past failures weighing upon his chest.. It had been incredibly difficult to smile before meeting the lovely woman he had fallen for. "I fear my days would be quite dull without your radiance to brighten them."

Lettie glanced down to the cat before laughing softly, waving her hand dismissively.

"Well...considering it's been apart of my life since I was a baby- my dad's hat shop, everything in our house is enchanted, our front door can take us wherever a dial points...guess I have a lot of respect for it." She explained, shrugging a little.

"And yeah, so I heard and read..." Lettie gave Ashe a smile, "it's mostly all I know about her- through written and spoken word. But it's fine, really."

She glanced to Shea before shaking her head. "...I'm glad, that means I did something right...right?"

If the fae looked surprised, it didn't show on her face as she watched Lettie and her little fiery friend. Humans were some very odd creatures, weren't they? And yet this one knew the weight of magic better than most of the children her age.

Sheasidhe rests on her lap, only peeking an eye open to watch, tail flicking back and forth as if he was resisting the car urges to chase the little flame back into his fireplace.

"Yoo're an interestin' a body, lassie. bein' able tae swatch at magic 'at maturely. nae e'en 'at bat brain can dae 'at...."

Ashe stares down at the cat in her lap, shaking her head and sighing.

Then she does something rare, she smiles. "He is right though, little one. A lot of children here seem to be a little too prideful about their magic. I simply assumed it was a human thing." She says softly. "Your mother is indeed a smart woman to word magic as such. I would say you've the right of it."

Shea looks surprised and sits up on Ashe's lap gesturing at her. "Ye got 'er tae smile! at someain who's nae 'er bat brain guidman!!!"

"Be quiet, Sheasidhe."

"Mmm, I know Ma'am..." Lettie looked over to her and gave her a small smile, tapping her mage pen against the black leatherbound grimoire she always toted around campus.

"From what I've translated from my mom....she describes it as a thought, an extension of yourself bringing something into existence..."

Lettie's eyes glanced to the hues of purple, blue, and reds in her hair, holding her hand out for the fire to roll onto it as she held him in the air, gently teasing it with a finger.

"Like so...~"

Lettie allowed Cinis to roll over her fingers before he darted back to the fireplace in Ramshackle's living room, smiling gently before turning back to Ashe.

"It's powerful, but in the same breath it can be dangerous..." She mumbled, running her fingers over the cover of the grimoire, gently tracing the diamond on the cover.

"...I apologize if I rambled and you had a point to make, was I far off the mark?"
