Park Sunghoon x OC | AU | Oneshot | Angst
Going back to Seoul was never a part of Sunghoon’s plan. All the efforts of burying the memories of that failed relationship went to waste when his parents blackmailed him into coming back home. Maybe Seoul still had something in store for him, just maybe…
«────── « ⋅ʚ♡ɞ⋅ » ──────»
Sunghoon trudged his way through the busy terminals within Heathrow Airport this late afternoon. He is set to fly back to Seoul, his once-called home, after avoiding it for the past half-decade. The memories he forcefully buried at the back of his mind had resurfaced when his mother’s assistant called him the day before to advise of his booked flight, not giving further details on why or what, and that it was adamant that he went home.
Ah, that dreadful, dreadful place… he mused, knowing that he didn’t have much choice on this matter, knowing fully that his mother wouldn’t hesitate to do something insane again, and he doesn’t want that, his younger sister would blame him again.
Seoul wasn’t this scary to him before, not before breaking up with his first love, Choi Ahri.
For Sunghoon, Ahri had the most beautiful and radiant smile, a cliché as it may sound, she was different from all the girls he’s met, no one ever compared to her up until now.
He still remembers that it was Spring when they met under the shade of a cherry blossom tree in their University. She was sitting there and absorbed in reading one of his favorite books, Angels and Demons. Call it love at first sight, as it was that.
There was a magnetic force that lured him, and she approached her without thinking how rude it was. “I heard Vittoria’s character was much better than Sophie’s?” he said as he sat beside her, without a care in the world.
She gave him that smile without any hesitations, “Yeah, Sophie is such a weakling.” And that’s where it all started.
He shook his head as boarded the plane, hoping to shake off all the recollections he’d ever had of her. Who knows where she is now, how long has passed, 5, 6 years? His mind and heart keep on betraying him, it has always been her.
Sunghoon did everything to forget about Ahri, he really did; he tried to see other people, it only ended in failure each time. He, and his friends, knew it was hopeless. It had only been her all along, no one else.
There was a little girl seated at the assigned seat on the other side of the aisle, while eating, mint chocolates. This reminded him of Ahri again, plus their other friend, Sunoo, who loves mint chocolates. He shuddered just thinking of how much it resembles toothpaste.
“You want some?” the little girl said with a toothy smile. He smiled back and shook his head. Mint chocolates were his go-to for bribing Ahri every time she got mad at him, he would just buy her these and she would then suppress a smile, pretending that she was still mad. “My mom said that this is the bestest in the whole world!” Sunghoon couldn’t help but laugh, finding the little girl adorable.
“What’s your name?” the little girl asked while eyeing him.
“I’m Sunghoon, what about you?”
“My name is Reese, just like the chocolate, my mom tells me it’s because I’m the sweetest. Why are you going to South Korea?”
“Because--” Sunghoon was cut off by another woman, he assumed that it was Reese’s mom.
“Reese, don’t be naughty, don’t bother the nice guy.” she gave him an apologetic smile.
“No, it’s okay. I like kids, and she’s a smart girl.”
She apologized again and warned the kid about not bothering other people, but then stepped away, leaving Reese on her own accord again, Sunghoon saw how the kid made a face while rolling her eyes, he can’t help but chuckle.
I guess it’s safe to leave their kids unattended since they’re in first class. And this kid is having the time of her life! Her parents must be rich! Sunghoon couldn’t help but wonder.
The kid started to have a little chat with him again, and he was getting entertained until the flight attendant asked for them to put their seatbelts on, as she also helped the kid.
Before shutting off his phone, he made sure to send a message to their group chat, since his best friends were the ones who would pick him up at the airport.
Sunghoon: See you in 12 hours, idiots!
Jay: You’re the idiot, you should also get a cab going home!
Heeseung: I hope you get stuck in the airport, asshole!
Jake: You’re walking home.
Another wave of nostalgia hit him when the plane took off, he was reminded of when he left Seoul so he can continue his studies in London on scholarship, they had planned to live together in the UK, she’d follow him there once he’s settled.
Their relationship continued, even if they were halfway around the world from each other, until he got a phone call from her one evening.
“Sunghoon, let’s talk.”
“Is something wrong?”
“I’m sorry, I can no longer be with you.”
“I need an explanation.” His grip on the phone tightened, at the same time he sat on the edge of his bed, finding support.
She paused before answering, “I… no longer… love you… It won’t work out.”
“I’m going home Ahri, I’m booking a flight now.” He switched to speakers and got on his laptop immediately.
“You won’t find me, Sunghoon. Please stop with your delusions that we will end up together!” she half yelled over the phone, “I’m going back to my family!”
“But… you told me you don’t have a family…” Sunghoon didn’t know but Ahri was also devastated. She chose not to disclose the reason for their breakup.
“I have to go Sunghoon, goodbye!” With that, she hung up the phone. Sunghoon tried to call her back, but his call could no longer go through.
He desperately begged his friends to find her, even using up all their connections but it’s like she vanished into thin air, no one could find her.
Jake immediately got on the earliest flight going to London, while Jay and Heeseung stayed for a few more days making an effort to find her.
Jay hired a private investigator, and Heeseung went to question her best friends, Sunoo and Jungwon, only to find out that she had dropped out of their university and that they couldn’t find her as well.
༻✦༺ ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺
The plane landed about half past 6 in South Korea. He was still a bit groggy from the nap. He knew that he had to face the fact that he might see her with someone new, he didn’t know how to handle it, but he knew that he must accept whatever happens.
“Goodbye Mister Sunghoon, we’ll be leaving now!” It was Reese, saying farewell to him. “I hope to see you again!”
Sunghoon waved back and said goodbye as well. At least that little kid made him smile.
He was pushing his luggage to the Arrivals area when he saw his friends that were smiling too much. He too was delighted, couldn’t even deny it, as it had been ages since he’d last seen the other three.
“Wait, I have to call my mom to let her know I’m here.”
The guys got his bags and loaded them into Heeseung’s car which was parked nearby.
“Mom, I just landed. The guys are here, too.” I spoke into the phone once she picked up.
“Oh good! Finally, you’re home!” she exclaimed, “You’re staying here, right?”
“Yes, mother. But let me stay over at Jake’s for a few days, I’ll just catch up with the guys. What is this about?” he asked suspiciously.
“Let’s talk tomorrow, son. Meet us for lunch at Stay, in Signiel Hotel. We have a flight in the evening going to Beijing. Bring Jongseong, Heeseung and Jaeyun. It’s been a while since we last saw them!”
“I’ll let them know, hopefully, they’re free.” Her mother then cut the call short, not even a single hint on what was she up to, but Sugnhoon knew that her mother was up to something.
“Hey, you okay?” Jay nudged Sunghoon as the two sat in the back seat, letting Heeseung drive.
“Yeah, sorry I spaced out.” He chuckled at himself, “By the way, are you guys free tomorrow, lunch time?”
“I should be, I’m technically on leave until Friday.” Heeseung was the first who answered.
“Taking a leave from your own company? That’s funny.” Jake commented, earning a smack from Heeseung.
Jay laughed at the two, then answered Sunghoon’s question, “I’m free, took a leave since you’d be home.”
“Me, three!” Jake chimed in, still laughing at the irony of it all. All of them are technically reporting to their own parents, and sooner if not later, these companies will transition to the next generation of chaebols.
“Mom’s asking if you want to join us for lunch tomorrow.” Sunghoon invited the guys.
“Why are you even asking us? You know we’d never say no!” Heeseung says, as Jay was nodding along with him.
“Even if we had plans, we’d definitely cancel them.”
The tiny gesture made Sunghoon grin, the bond was still there, even if he feels he left them long ago. Maybe this is not so bad.
༻✦༺ ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺
Everyone decided to crash at Jake’s place, ordered takeout and have an early night as they didn’t want to be late for today’s lunch rendezvous, they also knew that Sunghoon’s dad was pretty strict with time.
The four of them were first to arrive and they were accompanied to a private room by the receptionist. The place is grand, and it looked expensive for Sunghoon’s taste, he was no longer used to the affluent life. He learned to earn his own money when he was in London, which made him frugal. All the allowance his parents sent him was never touched, he kept it as an emergency fund, in case he decides to flee to another country again.
When his parents arrived a few minutes after they settled, everyone suddenly became quiet. His friends greeted his parents politely, and the latter were just pleased to see the boys after a long time, Sunghoon’s dad asked about their companies, and his mom was emotional upon seeing the boys and his son after such a long time.
The meal was not as quiet as the four friends had expected, they kept on talking and the elders were intent in listening to them.
“Sunghoon, honey, there’s something that we needed to talk to you about.” Her mom started when desserts and wine were served. His three friends started to look at each other and he noticed this, he knew that they had an idea on what’s going on. It was probably something along the lines of passing down the company or forming a pact.
It might be the merging of companies. These three must have known. He silently thought. He can only nod at his parents.
“Who will it be?” Sunghoon questioned nonchalantly, taking a bite of the dessert he chose.
“She’s the only daughter of the Choi-Han Financial group. We will have dinner with their family this weekend.” His dad explained, the only thing he can do was nod.
“They’re a close family friend, I know you’ve met them before.” His mom then added, and it dawned on him, he had met them before, but he doesn’t remember them having a daughter.
“I thought they didn’t have a daughter, or son?” Sunghoon is still contemplating on that one fact. The guys have been avoiding his eyes, so they knew.
“They do, but she left after her high school graduation, her mother says she’s headstrong and wanted to pursue a career in Arts… it’s a long story.”
He continued with what was left of his food in complete silence, listening to everyone continue the discussion until his parents needed to leave to go to the airstrip, saying that they’d be back in a couple of days.
“So, you guys know.” Sunghoon mumbled, but loud enough for everyone to hear. They ordered another bottle of wine to consume.
“I’m sorry Hoon,” Jay was the first on to speak, “we only found out yesterday, from our parents. It wasn’t our place to tell.”
He pursed his lips, he wasn’t annoyed per se, it was more like the feeling of betrayal, yet he understood. They knew since they were kids that something like this was bound to happen, especially being the only male descendants in their respective families.
“I guess it’s okay.” He finally looked at his three friends, “it was expected.”
“I hope she’s easy to look at, at least.” Jake kidded.
“Bad joke, dude! Bad joke.” Heeseung rolled his eyes, but still earned a laugh from the other two.
“Is that all you can think about, Jake? You’d be forever alone!” Sunghoon laughed at him. “You’re pathetic!”
༻✦༺ ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺
Saturday came, the day he was set to meet his future wife and the future in-laws. He didn’t think about it much the previous days. Sunghoon had always been the type to question his parents’ decisions, but his life had been in a downward spiral since Ahri left, so he blindly agreed to this.
I’m 24 years old, and still incapable of making my own decisions. Maybe this will be best for me. He muttered when he finally reached the place he called home. It still had the same vibe from when he left. He missed the whiff of spring that emulated from her mom’s garden, he missed his old room, he missed everything here. This even reminds me so much of her. If my parents have met her before, they would’ve loved her.
In the next hour, they made their way to his soon to be in-laws place. His dad was driving, and his mom couldn’t stop babbling about the family. “They do own the biggest financial company in South Korea and Japan, and this will be good for our company. It was also a pact made by your grandparents and hers, they’ve made this agreement before to have you and their only daughter get married. I’m not sure if it was true though, but I think that young lady now is a single mother.”
“Great! So it’s like a buy one take one deal, huh?” Sunghoon retorted. He was in no mood to discuss such things. “I’m sorry Mom, Dad, I didn’t mean to sound like a jerk.”
They drove in complete silence after that.
When they got to the place, Sunghoon was still quiet.
“Kyunghee, Sungho, welcome!” a modest man greeted the family of three, gave both Sunghoon’s parents a quick hug. “Is this already your Sunghoon? He’s grown to be a handsome young man!” He also welcomed Sunghoon with a quick hug.
His mom beamed with pride, “He did, did he? And where’s your angel?”
“She’s still upstairs but will join us soon. She’s still a bit tired from her trip yesterday.”
“Hello mister Sunghoon! You’re here.” A little girl appeared from one of the
“Oh hi! What are you doing here?” Sunghoon crouched down to be able to meet her eyes. The elders both exchanged confused looks.
“I was seated beside her on the plane,” Sunghoon explained, and they both laughed.
“I was also giving him some cotton candy, but he said nah-uh!” Sunghoon couldn’t help but be charmed by this little girl. “Grampy, is he going to be my new dad?”
Sunghoon was taken aback, but he smiled and said, “is that okay with you?”
The little girl’s face lit up, and instantly hugged him. He really couldn’t resist cute kids.
“Reese, why don’t you call mommy upstairs and tell her that the guests are already here.”
She obediently followed and ran upstairs.
They were now settled at the dining table discussing the events for the engagement and wedding, Sunghoon was just nodding and smiling every time, but he wasn’t really listening.
“She’s here.” Mr. Choi suddenly interrupted the discussion.
Sunghoon didn’t dare to turn his head around, she was not sure if she wanted to see his future wife.
“Hi, I’m sorry to make you wait…” She spoke. Sunghoon suddenly stopped as he heard that familiar voice, he looked at the girl and saw the face that was permanently engulfed in his mind, “Ahri…”
“Sunghoon?” She was equally shocked.
“You know each other?” Their parents were also astounded.
++++
“Hoon, I’m s-sorry.” Were the only things she said. Sunghoon stood up and dragged her quickly to some place where they could talk. He was furious.
“You’re hurting me…. Hoon, please.” Ahri spoke as tears were forming in her eyes.
“Don’t’ call me that! What’s this about? Huh?”, he was almost yelling, he was confused, he should be happy but he needed clarification.
“I didn’t know that it was you.” she stammered. “I broke up with you because I was going to marry…” she couldn’t complete the sentence, she found it a bit funny. She then stifled her giggle.
“What’s so funny?”
“I broke up with you because I was going to marry you!” she smiled, that sweet smile of hers.
“so it means we wasted almost half a decade of our lives not being with each other.” Sunghoon understood what she meant, and he laughed with her. But there was still one thing though, “what about Reese?”
“She’s your daughter.” She explained. “I broke up with you when I learned that I was pregnant with your child. I couldn’t bear letting you know when I knew from the beginning that I wasn’t going to marry you… or so I thought.”
“And you said you didn’t have a family…”
“I ran away from home when I learned that they were going to engage me with someone I didn’t know. So, I went to Seoul to live alone.”
Sunghoon had finally nodded, he realized that they were for each other, and he knew that Ahri knew that too.
“My parents are going to kill me if they find out that I left you to be a single mother…”
Ahri laughed at this, “I guess I’ll be a widow early in life.”
“I’m so sorry, I didn’t know.” He took this way too seriously. “I should’ve been there for you.”
“It’s okay, Hoon. It’s all in the past,” she smiled at him again, before tiptoeing to give him a kiss, “I’m just glad that it’s you and not anyone else.”
She’s right. Sughoon couldn’t resist and grabbed her by the nape and gave her the most passionate kiss ever, she succumbed to the overwhelming emotions she felt, Ahri found it indeed amusing that she tried so hard to stay away from him and go under the radar for nothing.
“Once Jungwon and Sunoo find out about this, I’ll never hear the end of it.” Ahri mused.
“You still talk to them?”
“Of course! They’re my best friends, Hoon. You know that.”
“Yeah, but Jay asked them before about your whereabouts and they said they didn’t know.”
This made Ahri laugh so hard, “I’m their friend, Hoon. Remember that their loyalty is with me.” She said matter-of-factly, “It’s the same when my friends asked Jake about you, he said he didn’t know!”
“Jake wouldn’t do that.” He frowned. “He didn’t say anything!”
“Call him. Ask.” She ordered, but he didn’t comply.
“Mommy, they asked me to call you and Mister Sunghoon…” Reese came out of nowhere and she grabbed both Sunghoon’s hand and then Ahri’s. Sunghoon looked at his newly discovered daughter and became teary-eyed.
“So… how are we going to tell the parents?” Ahri interrupted his thoughts, “but you should tell them, you were the one who left anyway.”
Before Sunghoon could even retort, his mother interrupted, “Glad you finally decided to join us.”
Her mother also added, “Is there something we should know?”
Ahri looked at Sunghoon before taking her seat and leaving him in the spotlight.
“Uh, you see, Reese is my daughter…”
Dumbfounded was an understatement, and when the elders grasped the idea that he wasn’t joking, Sunghoon got bombarded with questions.
He looked at his now fiancé begging for help, but she was stifling a laugh while helping their daughter with her food. He didn’t have a choice but to explain what happened, starting from how they met and their breakup.
At least the worst is over, we have each other now. He thought to himself, as he reached out for her hand under the table and intertwined it with his.

These drunk confessions
These drunk confessions - Part 2
Park Jongseong (Jay) x OC (Im Haeyoon) | College AU | Situationship
For Haeyoon, it was better to end things than to admit how she truly felt. It's not like she didn't like their set up, she was just too scared of rejection, leaving Park Jongseong lost, confused and full of misconceptions that ended in these drunk confessions. Now, everyone in their circle knows about what has transpired in the past, plus Jongseong's feelings--everyone knew, except of course, for the oblivious Im Haeyoon..
⊱ ━━━━━━━━━━━━.⋅ εïз ⋅.━━━━━━━━━━━━ ⊰
Part 2: Jay
Three days since that fucking incident, three days since I last went out of my apartment, and three days since I last spoke to anyone. I’ve done nothing but wallow in misery due to being humiliated in front of our friends and the student body, and the fact that she hated me.
Why is she even furious? Fuck if I did anything to her, she was the one who broke it off, since she liked another guy, not me. It’s also a fucking mystery that she liked Park Sunghoon—not that he was bad-looking or anything, but the dude had the personality of a rock! If he wasn’t attractive, then he’d be nothing!
Speaking of… it must be him calling again, the caller ID says otherwise though—it was Aerin. Why is she calling me, is there an emergency?
“Hey, Aerin. What’s up?” Since she didn’t call or text as much, so I was curious.
“What’s up is you’re ignoring your friends who are worried sick! Heeseung went to your apartment twice, but not even once that you opened the door for him! The others are already at their wit’s end trying to figure out what your problem is! It’s Jake’s birthday today and he can’t even be ecstatic about it because he’s bothered—"
“I’m okay Ae-“
“Did I ask if you’re fucking okay, Park Jongseong?! Do you think hiding from everyone because you got slapped by my bestfriend justifies your actions? From what I’ve heard, you brought it upon yourself!”
“Why are you taking it against me? I’m the one who got humiliated, not you nor the guys! Your friend has issues, I didn’t even do anything to her!” I half yelled, too frustrated and confused, I have been in this dilemma for the past 8 months, if they only knew.
Then silence, Aerin seemed to have calm as well, “Whatever’s between you, talk it out, okay?”
“She blocked me, if you must know. She wouldn’t even look at me.”
“You should probably stop insulting her and giving snide remarks, I don’t know why you can’t be civil with her, after what you did to her…”
“What the hell did I do?!”
“And what did she ever do to you, Park? Have you thought about that before you started throwing a tantrum that affected everyone?”
She fucking left me for someone else, she broke my heart. Fuck. I chose to stay quiet, I have to keep in mind that none of them knew about what happened between Haeyoon and me, she’s capable of killing me if the guys find out.
“I swear to God, Jay. Even Niki doesn’t measure up to your maturity at this point. If you don’t come to Jake’s party tonight, the guys will talk to your parents.”
“Fine! I’ll be there.” I fibbed just to make her lay off me.
“Words of advice, stay sober, you keep confessing to the wrong people!”
She hung up before I could even breathe another word, what the hell did Aerin mean?
There is a possibility that I’d see Haeyoon later, and I’m not sure if I’m prepared to. Anyway, if I decide to go, she won’t be the reason, it’d be because it’s Jake’s day—even if that asshole is set to ask her out, he’s still one of my bestfriends.
What if the two started dating? Will I be able to move on from all this?
I admit that I’m having a hard time accepting that she’s no longer part of my life…
Haeyoon is Mika’s, my cousin, friend from their high school—we met at my cousin’s graduation party. Haeyoon’s a head turner, not only beautiful, but elegant. Her movements were so refined that I thought she’d be boring, but man, was I so wrong!
We were in the hotel’s ballroom, people-watching, when she excused herself. At the ten-minute mark, I saw her rushing towards me—she then pulled my hand and dragged me outside of the ballroom towards a hidden area near the pool.
The classy girl whom I was talking to just a few minutes back stole a bottle of Riesling and almost got caught! We drank straight from the bottle like two underage alcoholics without a care in the world. The night that we both lost our virginity to each other and spent the rest of the evening until dawn just talking as we waited for the first sunrise of our summer.
The following day, I drove her home and ended up meeting her parents, they invited me to have lunch with them until I became a staple in their household, sometimes having dinner with her and her parents, or staying the night, she also did the same, coming over during the weekends or joining my family on our short trips. My parents adore her, I knew exactly why.
When the new school year started, she suggested that we shouldn’t be obvious on campus, she doesn’t want anyone finding out about us since it’s like a friends-with-benefits thing—I agreed. She also didn’t want her bestfriend to get the wrong idea about us, I didn’t think much of it until I’ve noticed that a lot of guys have been approaching her, trying to get her attention. I became insecure at the idea of her liking someone else, that did not sit well with me. If that happens, it means it’s gonna be over between us, no questions asked.
Sunghoon and Heeseung, two of my long-time friends, got to know her as well, and I made it a point to tell them to not allow any male student near her, my plan was successful and lucky for me, they did not question my motives. It was then that I knew my feelings were starting to materialize.
Then Jake came into the picture junior year and started showing interest in her and it was a relief that she did not give him the time of the day. I never asked her about Jake, I did not want her to get the wrong idea, as long as we were okay, I’d be fine with that. That was until the party they’ve hosted for Jake.
Mom wanted me to bring my cousin Mika and two of her friends to wherever I was going that night, saying something about being cordial to our guests since they were visiting over the weekend. So, I told Haeyoon that I won’t be able to go to her place after. That night was a blur, I remember getting kissed by one of my cousin’s friend on Heeseung’s balcony and I just let her, thinking it was Yoon, but turns out it was not. That was also the same exact moment I realized that I can’t be with someone unless it’s her.
So, I immediately ran downstairs to frantically look for her, Aerin said she already went home, not feeling well. As an act of desperation when I rushed to the front door, stumbling a few times, forcing myself to walk straight to where my car was parked. Heeseung and Sunghoon stopped me when I told them that I’d be driving to her place. They forced me to stay, and took my car keys from me, making sure I didn’t do anything stupid. I called her multiple times that night, and even sent her messages but I got no response, which was fairly odd, considering that she never misses to reply.
Monday came sooner, the only message I got from her was that she went home to her parents and that she’d call me but heard nothing after. Frustration was slowly building up—I went to her apartment, and let myself in but found nothing.
Yoon did not attend her morning classes either, I’ve been asking the guys nonstop about her whereabouts, but no one knew. Aerin was already getting suspicious of me but didn’t ask further, it was a relief since I didn’t want to tell her anything that Yoon may have not told her yet, and if she questioned me, I knew I’d break.
A couple of days into the second week, I finally got a text from her, only to say that she wanted to end things as she’s now liking someone else. I bombarded her with calls and messages until she switched off her phone, I wanted to talk to her, in person at least, I was planning to tell her everything and if she didn’t accept me, I’d let her be. The closure I wanted, I never got.
It was Sunghoon, the guy she liked. I had to find out from the grapevine that it was him. It felt like I was cheated on, yet Sunghoon had no clue about Yoon and my status.
As soon as I had the chance, I confronted Sunghoon, one on one, and interrogated if he was making a move on her. He denied everything, saying that they were just friends, nothing more. I was lost, not sure who to believe then. My life seemingly went upside down because she left me—Park Jongseong then was the perfect definition of tragedy.
Our most recent interaction wasn’t any better, and it was my fault I got triggered. She has never called me Jay, it was always Jongseong, Jongseongie, Seong, but never Jay. She specifically implied that it was only for people not close to me—now that she’s calling me Jay, did it mean that I was just a mere acquaintance?
Again, my phone buzzed, it was my mother this time. “Hi, mom.”
“Jongseong, where are you?”
“I’m in my apartment, why?”
“Your friends are here. Heeseung is here looking for you, with Sunghoon and Niki. Why are you hiding from your friends? Where is Haeyoon? I knew something was wrong when she didn’t go here for our anniversary, did you cheat on her?! I swear to God Jongseong, you won’t meet anyone better than her-“
I cut her off with her ramblings, “Mmm! The guys will hear you!”
“So what if they hear me? Have you been hiding her?!”
“She’s not even my girlfriend, mom,” I whined, what is it with women these days and nagging? “and it’s not like she wants to be my girlfriend.”
“You’re indeed your father’s son. I can’t believe you didn’t see how much she cares about you; I know I’m your mother and I’m supposed to support you, but if you don’t win her back, don’t think about going home, and that’s final.”
“What the fuck, mom?!”
“Language, young man. I will have a word with your friends.”
“Don’t tell them anything! I swear it’s no-“ I did not even get to finish my sentence when she hang up. I can’t believe she’s disowning me because of Haeyoon! I am her only son, my God! That woman is so petty! How did she even become my mother?!
Truthfully, I’m not prepared to tell the guys about this however I’m pretty sure that they now know more than I want to tell them. I took the quickest shower ever and rushed back home after I messaged them in our group chat: Heeseung, Sunghoon and Niki, do not leave! Wait for me there and do not listen to that woman!
Unsure of how many stop signs I’ve run over, I got home in record time—25 minutes! As soon as I got out of my car, I spotted the three of them with my mother at our patio. My mom already giving me a condemning face as soon as she saw me, oh God, I’m gonna be homeless!
“Hey, mom, guys!” I casually greeted them, acting cool while my inner turmoil suggests otherwise.
“Sit down Jongseong.” Okay, I’m in trouble. The three were stifling a laugh, they were not the most subtle bunch. “What’s this I hear that you’ve been going out with different women every week?!”
I’m going to kill all of you. I mouthed those words to them which didn’t help with their case, Heeseung snorted, and the other two were in hysterics.
“Did you break up with Haeyoon or you cheated on her, she found out then broke up with you?”
“Mooom, she’s not even my girlfriend, I told you.” I insinuated in a sort of whisper-shouting manner, “She’s going to kill me if she finds out they know.”
“Don’t worry, man. She won’t get mad.” Sunghoon assured me, a little too self-assured if you ask me.
“Are you planning something? What are you guys planning?!”
“I’ll leave you boys be, and you are staying for dinner,” mom then stood up, “Please talk to your friend, he needs a good beating.”
The boys chuckled and had the nerve to approve of what she just said. “Stop acting like you’re my mother’s sons.”
“What, it’s funny!” Sunghoon mused, “Heeseung believed that Jake was so serious about Haeyoon!”
Niki looked at Sunghoon wide-eyed while hitting his arm, “Fucking retard!”
“Watch your language, Niki!” I warned the youngest, “what did you say?”
“Just go to the party later, Jake’s expecting all of us,” Heeseung exclaimed, getting my attention from the other two.
“Why? I have schoolwork to finish.”
“I’m your classmate in most of your classes, deadlines aren’t until the end of the month, so that’s three weeks from now.”
“Come on, Jongsaeng-mon… we haven’t seen you in three days!”
“Stop referring to me as if I’m your Pokemon!” I snarled at Sunghoon, “Come on guys, I’m not in the mood. Besides, I also need some me time.”
“Heeseung will buy you lunch for a whole month.” Niki offered.
“I don’t need that, I’m rich.”
Niki huffed, “well, not if we tell auntie. You’d be homeless and poor!”
This kid is evil, they again didn’t give me much choice, so I was forced to say yes, already regretting my decision.
After a few more lectures from my mom during dinner, we made our way to wherever the party was. Mom warned me again that I shouldn’t step foot in this house in the future if I don’t have Haeyoon with me. It’s as if she’d talk to me again after what happened.
It felt like being abducted by my own friends—they didn’t even let me bring my own car, making sure that I won’t be able to leave anytime. Plus, Jungwon and Niki are staying over, they made sure that I also do the same.
“Where are we going?” I asked Heeseung when I realized that the direction we’re going to is a bit different than our usual route.
“Jake rented a penthouse suite, he says something about his parents being home, so we needed to go to a different place.”
Sketchy, but okay. Whatever. He might’ve rented the whole club or something, that’s what he always does. He doesn’t like the hassle of cleaning up the following day, smart actually.
What I wasn’t told was that he booked a penthouse suite in Hyatt in Gangnam and only a select few were invited. By select few, meaning it was only our circle.
“Hey man, I thought you wouldn’t make it!” Jake got me into a headlock as soon as he saw me and dragged me inside to where the supposed living room is.
“Dude, be thankful it’s your birthday or else! I laughed along with him as I tried to fight back, but Jake was somewhat stronger.
“I just didn’t expect to see you, I thought I’d have to drag your ass out of your apartment!”
“That’s what we did actually,” Sunghoon chimed in, “We had to go to his parent’s house just to make him come out. It’s pathetic!”
“Take it easy on Jongseong,” Aerin shushed the two, “go, freshen up,” she pushed me to one of the bedrooms, as Niki handed me my rucksack, “we’ll just prep the food.”
“Oh yes, yes! Chill for a bit,” Jake was on it too, everyone within the radius exchanging knowing glances, acting suspicious if I may add, “Go!”
As I was pushed inside the room, the door behind me closed almost immediately, to which I forced open it but it was somehow stuck from the other side. “What the fuck guys?! Open up!” I was banging on the door at the same time.
“Will let you out in an hour, I swear!” I think that was Heeseung’s voice.
“Yeah, an hour or so. We won’t let you out unless you two talk!” That was definitely Sunghoon… wait, us two?
“Why the hell are you so loud?!” Someone from behind me suddenly spoke, which fucking gave me a heart attack, “and what are you doing here, Jay?” Ah, the love of my life who saw me as nothing but a nuisance.
“Hey Haeyoon… Um, I guess they locked us in.”
She sighed and walked towards the door, tried opening it, and banged it as well, “Fucking morons! Let us out, you dumb shits! I SWEAR ONCE I GET OUT OF HERE I’LL -“
I placed both of my hands on each shoulder as I lightly pulled her away from the door and had her sit on the edge of the bed, it was a hopeless case especially when we both heard Sunghoon and Jake’s obnoxious hooting.
“It’s pointless, these guys are assholes to begin with.” I told her.
“Obviously.” she muttered while typing angrily on her phone, the message was sent to our group chat, and I almost chortled when I read the message full of profanities, definitely not threatening, but cute, “Why are you laughing? Do you think this is funny?!” Oh, oh! I’m unblocked? I can read her messages again, WTF!
“I’m sorry, I was smiling, not laughing.” I corrected her which made her glare even more. It was meant to be a joke but she took it negatively.
Her back was against the headboard and damn it, even with no makeup on, she looked beautiful. More beautiful than anyone I’ve met—this is bringing me back to the time I've first met her.
Maybe God has a weird way of answering my prayers—I’m taking this as a sign from the heavens, plus I don’t want our friends’ efforts to go to waste.
“How are you, Yoon?” I sat on the side of the bed near her, but kept a good distance, in case she wanted to hurt me again.
She raised her left eyebrow at me, “and you’re asking because?”
Maybe because I miss you and it’s been almost a year since we last talked? “Just asking.”
A sigh escaped her lips for the nth time in the last thirty minutes or so, “I’m sorry. It’s just, we’re no longer on speaking terms, it’s weird that you’re asking me this, but to answer your question, I’m fine. I hope you are too.”
“I am,” I hesitated to continue, not knowing what to say further.
“You know we don’t have to talk just because they locked us here. We can always go back to pretending that we’re not close once they let us out, just be civil.”
“Pretending we weren’t close didn’t do us any good, Yoon, and you know that.”
“Maybe it was meant to end, Jay. Maybe we weren’t even meant to be friends.”
“Don’t say that, please.” I begged, I reached out to both her hands and kissed them, “I’m sorry for being a jerk, I just—I didn’t know how to handle being away from you. I didn’t know what to do with my life, you became a big part of it in a short span of time. Can we just go back to how it was? Please, Haeyoon?”
My tears are already threatening to spill, I couldn’t help it, I couldn’t afford to lose her again. I’d go insane, it’d be now or never.
She retracted her hands, and insisted that I let go, “You mean go back to having sex then keeping it as a secret? I don’t think so.”
“No, that’s not what I meant. I know you like Sunghoon, or maybe Jake, I don’t know,” I took a deep breath, to make sure I won’t mess up my words again, “Haeyoon, I won’t tell you to stop liking them or whatever, what I’m asking for is to just let me be there for you again, let me spend time with you like before, let me do things for you, drive you wherever you need to go, take care of you, anything, just please… I don’t know how I can function again without you in my life.”
“Why are you doing this, Jongseong?” her voice softens, “I can’t take advantage of you like that. I can’t do that to you.”
“Because I love you, Im Haeyoon. Since freshman year, I think. I just didn’t want to tell you as I thought it may frighten you away.” She froze at my confession, now this is scaring me—she’s going to reject me that’s for sure, but at least I told—
“You’re a fucking idiot, Park Jongseong.” She wiped her now damp eyes with the back of her hand, “you’re a fucking idiot!”
“I’m sorry if this is something that’s not expected, I just wanted to tell you at least before you decide to cut ties with me again. I’ve loved you—no, I love you since then, and that hasn’t changed, not one bit.”
“You could’ve just told me before, you’re aware of that right?” She’s now smiling through her tears, even laughing at this whole situation, “we could’ve avoided all this drama you know?”
“What do you mean? So we could’ve ended it sooner?”
“God, you’re so dense. You really are. Although I’m not any better…” she muttered.
Dense? Because what, you’re rejecting me for someone else? As of this moment, I’m not sure which is more acceptable, getting rejected because of your bestfriend or because of someone you don’t know.
“What are you thinking about Jongseongie?” she placed both her hands on each side of my face and gave me a quick peck on my lips, what the fuck? My brain short-circuited and didn’t know how to react. “You’re an idiot, and I’m inlove with you.”
“You—you are—with me? Seriously?”
“Should it be with someone else? You want me to take it back?”
“NO! No of course not! You’re mine.” I blurted out so suddenly, “I’m sorry, I mean-“
“I love you Park Jongseong, I really do. It’s just that I thought you were going end things with me after I saw you kissing someone else at Heeseung’s party. I thought me ending things abruptly would be better for the both of us, and I dreaded the idea that you would want it to stop.”
I was about to say something, but she interrupted me, “Wait, let me finish. I need to let it all out or I’ll forget.” It was very typical of her, to forget things, “So I accidentally confessed that I liked Sunghoon, which wasn’t true by the way.”
“You put him on the spot!” I gasped, making fun of her, “Poor Sunghoon, he must’ve been traumatized!”
She lightly tapped my cheek and chuckled, “You’re so mean! But anyway, I already came clean, a few days ago.”
“Just a few days ago?! And we all thought…”
“The guys told me you were the only one who thought that, apparently they all knew about us because you have drunk confessed to everyone!”
“That is not true!” I strongly denied, “who told you this? It’s not true.”
“Well,” she pondered, “there’s Sunoo, Sunghoon, Niki and Jungwon may have mentioned something. You’ve been telling them things apparently… like I left you for someone else? Dude, we’re not even dating! Do you want me to ask them again?”
“No, please. Don’t! I love you, okay? That’s what’s important!” I insisted, but the things I do when I’m drunk were pretty much buried in the ditch, memories have been vague.
The door suddenly opened, good thing we weren’t in a compromising position. “Are you lovebirds done? It has been more than an hour and food is ready!” It was the birthday boy.
“We’re good,” Haeyoon stood up and smiled at him. She took my hand and pulled me towards the door.
“We’re good? That’s it?” I whispered, “Aren’t we discussing our relationship status at least?”
She just shrugged and walked away, smirking, as she joined the others in the kitchen—what the fuck was that? Where do we stand?
“So…?” Ah, Jake and Jungwon obviously asking for what transpired within the room.
“What?” I asked irritatingly, “What do you want?” I threw myself to the nearest couch, completely ignoring the two. Unfortunately for me, the two couldn’t take a hint and joined me.
“What ‘what’? We’re asking what’s going on between you two now. Did you finally ask her out?” Jungwon nudged.
“Are you finally dating?” Jake also probed, a little too eager.
“Get away from me you two!” I tried so hard to shoo them away, but I remember her kissing me just a while back. Right then and there, a grin escaped my lips—they’ll never let me hear the end of it!
Their teasing might have attracted Sunoo, who was now walking towards us wearing that mischievous smirk, followed by Sunghoon—fuck my life! I'm just not ready for this...

These Drunk Confessions
These drunk confessions - Part 1
Part 1: OC’s (Haeyoon) POV
“So… there’s this party…” my best friend of almost two decades started as we were having lunch at the university cafeteria.
“No, Rin. I’ll be busy.” I deadpanned as I finished my chocolate pudding, not wanting to listen to what she had to say.
“I haven’t even said anything yet! Sunghoon will be there though.” She added hopefully. Ah, the ex-love of my life as everyone knows, who happened to reject me but is still nice about it. That was laughable really, and I’m over it.
“I’m over him, love. You know that,” I gave her a disapproving look. It didn’t hurt my pride as much though, because it was a cover-up, and probably because he didn’t gloat about it, we’re still good friends. After that drunk confession which was supposedly for another person (his best friend?), Sunghoon rejected me and said he never saw me that way, which I’m thankful for as it would get pretty complicated if he didn’t. “And besides, if Sunghoon is there, so is his best friend, Park Jongseong.”
“God! I wasn't implying anything!” she added defensively. “Why are you so irked with his presence anyway? It’s not like you have a past with Jay…” Oh God, we DID have a past, it’s just that nobody knew!
“Don’t act like I’m not aware of things, I know the party will be this Friday to celebrate Jake’s birthday, Jake and I are not even close. I don’t just crash anyone’s party, you know.”
“Whose party are we crashing?” Heeseung interrupted the discussion, sitting beside Aerin, as she became flustered while attempting to hide a smile.
“You’re close by association, he’s close with Sunghoon and Heeseung!” she interjected, like it was the brightest idea ever.
“Close with whom, babe?” Heeseung shot Aerin a confused glance.
“You’re going too, right Hee? Jake’s party this weekend.”
“Oh stop it with your flirting. You two are so pathetic!” I rolled my eye at them, trying so hard to change the topic but ended up failing. They should just address their feelings for each other and start dating, it gets everyone frustrated when they say that they’re just close friends. Yeah, right. Close friends who can’t get their hands off each other.
“Come on Yoon, we won’t even let you drive, you can drink all you want.” She insisted, with Heeseung backing her up.
“And Jake wants you there, he likes you, you know,” Heeseung said, which made my best friend giggle like crazy. “You were always at the parties we hosted, what happened?”
Nah, Jake doesn’t like me like that, I don't think so. He is nice, and can even be considered as hot, but he’s a fuck boy. He has girls left and right, and I don’t want to be one of those girls who are at his beck and call, nope that isn’t me.
“I’ll think about it.” I finally said after a minute of silence God, just drop the subject, please! It’s not like I don’t want to, but I don’t feel like seeing Park Jongseong in a setting other than our campus.
I stood up and excused myself from the two, and made my way to a nearby study space so I can finish my work in peace, but who am I kidding? My mind wandered off to Jongseong, again. The almighty Park Jongseong—Jay for most people. Our friend group is well known within our uni and other campuses as well, because of these guys; Heeseung, Sunghoon, Jake, Sunoo, Jungwon, Niki and of course, Jay—who’s also a fuckboy just like Jake. I don’t want to associate myself with him again, not in this lifetime!
Jongseong and I were friends with benefits, and nobody knew about this, not even Aerin. He was the one I lost my virginity to, and vice versa—well, at least that’s what he told me.
All that started the summer after high school, when he was introduced by a classmate. It only ended at the start of our junior year in college, just a few months back.
We had a deal that if one of us started to like someone else, we’d tell the other. The relationship was supposedly exclusive, we can date but we can’t fuck other people, if we did, we had to stop this situationship.
Ironic enough, we also became a part of the same friend group, freshman year. We were aloof in front of our friends but it’s a totally different story when we’re alone or with our parents, it is also unbelievable how we kept the act for more than two years.
At the parties the guys hosted, it was the same story. Our younger friends would be there, but they were not allowed to drink, it was either me or Jongseong that picked them up, then Sunghoon being the slightly responsible one will drive them home before their curfew, then will only start drinking once the kids are home. Jongseong and I will then disappear when everyone’s drunk or busy and will spend the night either at his or my place. And there were also weekdays, when he spent most nights at my place, without our friends knowing.
Until the dreadful thing happened, I fell in love with him—sophomore year, second semester.
It was also one of the unwritten rules, to not fall for the other. Of course, I didn’t have the guts to tell him or end it, I was just there for him, nothing changed. Besides, he did not show me any kind of affection when we were outside of our confines, I just knew it was one-sided.
Then came Jake, who was a transfer student in the first semester of junior year and he hit it off with our clique, so naturally the guys found another reason to host a party, to welcome him that is. It was the same old routine, except Jungwon, Niki and Sunoo did not need to go home that night, they would be crashing at Heeseung’s, who hosted the party.
Jongseong on the other hand told me that he wouldn’t be able to go home with me that night, which was a first, he said he needed to babysit his cousin. I didn’t mind, and who was I to demand to know what he was up to, we were not in a relationship.
That’s when I saw him with another girl on the balcony, while I was seated on one of the pool chaises, a little tipsy but had a good view of them while I was hidden from their sight. He allowed her to lunge forward and kiss him, he did not even resist. Realization hit me that time that I was nothing to Jongseong, so I made an excuse to my friends that I will be going home early as I’m not feeling well, I did not even bother saying goodbye to him.
In the succeeding days, I talked to him less. I didn’t make myself as available as before so I made up shitty excuses to not see him, I was scared that he’d tell me that he would end things, I thought that it'd feel better if it was the other way around, so I planned to end it with him. I also avoided our friends that same week and was absent on the classes I shared with each one of them. They kept messaging me too, especially Aerin and Jongseong, asking about my whereabouts, and made up this lame excuse that I was spending time with my mom, good thing Jongseong did not ask mom about me.
The following week, that's when I dropped the bomb--I messaged him and said that we should stop whatever was between us as there was already someone I liked. He did not stop calling until I had to switch off my phone, I then went home to my parents and made myself MIA. Mom thought it was pressure from school, so she let me off the hook.
After two weeks of hiding, I finally went back. I talked to my professors, and they gave me extra work for credits. Another excuse to not see them, I did tell Aerin that something was up but did not tell her in detail, I was thankful that she did not pry, and she understood me. Jongseong stopped bothering me altogether, I was somewhat relieved, but I did miss him, so much if I may add.
That weekend, I made an appearance at the party hosted by Sunghoon when I realized how selfish I was and apologized to them for being MIA. It wasn’t a surprise that Jay had his arm around someone, I didn’t even look at him, I could feel his ireful stares which I tried so hard to ignore.
I did not leave Sunghoon’s side that night, thankfully he did not mind, not one bit, and when everyone mellowed down, that’s when Jongseong started to argue with me that progressed into a full-blown fight loud enough for our friends and bystanders to hear. He accused me of liking Sunghoon, and that did it for me. I deliberately told him that I indeed liked Sunghoon because he doesn’t sleep around. It was too late when I fully understood what I’ve just said, the others broke the fight and Sunghoon drove me home, and was nice enough to comfort me and stay with me until the morning—this was when he rejected me. I didn't bother explaining to him what really happened, it was left at that.
That was the last time I’ve ever spoken to Park Jongseong, or at least the last civilized one. He did, however, drunk text me a few times, saying that Sunghoon doesn’t like me and things with similar context, he was fucking petty, and I ignored him, until I ended up blocking his number.
“Hey, you’re too deep in thought.” Sunoo nudged me, I did not realize that he’s here with Jungwon, Sunghoon and the manwhore himself, Park Jongseong.
“I’m just tired. Exams are coming up.”
The guys joined me at the then empty table, Jongseong was hesitant but still sat with the others.
“So I hear you’re coming this Friday.” Sunghoon asked, after the incident, it took about three months before I started hanging out with the guys.
“If Aerin and Heeseung told you, then they’re lying. I told them I’d think about it. That's different.”
“Come one, you don’t have to worry about driving, I’ll pick you up and even drive you home.” Sunghoon insisted.
“Yess! Please, please!” Sunoo begged, “you haven’t joined us in a long time.”
“Eight months is not a long time, love. Plus, I have been busy.” I told them, Jungwon frowned, and I know he doesn’t believe me.
“Yeah, busy with what? Dating after Sunghoon rejected you?” Jongseong smirked and I am so tempted to wipe that fucking smirk off his face.
“Am I even talking to you, Jay?” I said with a straight face. “Mind your own business, why not continue fucking everyone else in this school instead of putting your nose into someone else’s life? It got too boring for you?”
“At least they’re all lined up for me, unlike for some people I know.” He continued to pester me, “It’s not my fault that no one wants to fuck you.”
“Are you sure about that?” I was fuming but I didn’t want to lose my composure, “maybe you can ask Jake.” Sunghoon held me by my elbow, trying to prevent me from saying anything more.
“Yeah, Jake would fuck you alright, but that’s it. As if he’d come looking for you again after one night, don’t think so highly of yourself.”
“Jay, stop-“ Jungwon tried to control him, too late though, my anger got the best of me and I slapped Jongseong, hard.
“Okay, we gotta go!” Sunoo forced me out of the building, Sunghoon followed carrying my stuff which he shoved in my backpack.
“That fucking asshole!”
“Im Haeyoon! What the fuck is wrong with you?” Sunoo hit the back of my head lightly as soon as we were out of the building.
“Didn’t you hear what he just said? He insulted me, Sun!!!” I almost yelled, “that fucking manwhore insulted me!”
“Why do guys walk so fast?” Sunghoon suddenly appeared while catching his breath, “what was that about Im Haeyoon?”
“Stop calling me by my legal name assholes!” they took me to the nearby park, and I sat on one of the benches, “he’s getting on my nerves, I don’t even know what his problem is.”
“Bad break up, perhaps?” Sunoo joked, Sunghoon guffawed, my eyes widen, “You’re too guilty!”
“We know, Yoon. Jay told us some bits, when he was drunk, we’ve been meaning to ask you as well.”
“What do you know? Who else knows about this?”
“Well, since Jay is a bad drunk,” Sunghoon admitted, “he may or may have not told everyone, including Aerin, you know because of Heeseung.”
“Right.” When the information sinks, I buried my face in my hands, “OH.MY.GOD! Park fucking Jongseong!”
“Chill, I somewhat knew.” Sunoo rubbed my back, “the way he looks at you says it all, he’s so in love with you Yoon.”
“Wait, what?” Did I just hear it correctly?
“You know he didn’t talk to me for a month, right?” Sunghoon said exasperatedly, “he thought that you and I dated.”
“It’s true, I was the first one he drunk confessed to,” Sunoo snickered at the thought, “he said you broke up with him for another guy, that you liked one of his best friends and he can’t do anything about it. It was the week you were at your parents.’"
“Wait, I’m confused. He was never my boyfriend guys. We never dated. Yes, we fucked but that was that.” I tried to explain even if it doesn’t make sense to me, “We were friends with benefits, I didn’t want to tell you guys since things would be awkward.”
Sunghoon sat on the ground, facing me and Sunoo “I only noticed it when he changed. He was always drunk at parties and flirted with different girls on a daily basis, but he never took anyone home as far as I know.”
“Hard to believe, Hoon. I mean, he plays tonsil hockey with one of the girls in one of our classes, then he flirts with a different one on another. I’m not surprised if he’s contracted STD or something.”
"He never had sex with anyone, Haeyoon. Believe me."
“Didn’t you like him at least? I know you did.” Sunoo urged, waiting for me to answer.
“I did.” I paused, it felt good to have everything off my chest for once, “I really did, but when I saw him kissing that girl at Heeseung’s party, I knew it had to stop, he didn’t see me that way, I totally made a fool out of myself.”
“What? What girl? Did you know about this Hoon? Was this the party for Jake?”
“Ah! The girl he was with, I remember. Jay dumped her that same night, and then he came looking for you, but you already went home. He wanted to go to you, but we warned him not to drive, he already had too much to drink. I think he also tried to call, but you were not picking up.”
“That’s when I started avoiding him, I knew I had to break it off with him. I told him I liked someone else, that’s why I said I liked you, sorry Hoon, if you got caught in the middle. I was desperate to break it off with him… I never formally apologized to all of you, I was being selfish that time."
“It’s okay, we all had fun irking Jay anyway. He was so reactive, Jake did have a crush on you, but when he found out about your past with Jay, he riled him up for fun, pretending he doesn’t know anything. He’s so jealous of Jake, I think that’s why he reacted that way earlier.” Sunghoon also confessed, while Sunoo's nodding excitedly.
“Hoon is telling the truth, I’ve witnessed it! He walks out if he gets too pissed but will say sorry the next day, saying he doesn’t know what’s gotten into him or that he’s stressed.” Sunoo laughed so hard while saying this, “We were doing this with the hopes that he’d finally confess to you, but he’s too much of a coward, that’s for sure.”
“It’s okay, loves. I’m sure we’ve both moved on, it has been almost a year.”
Or perhaps I thought I did, but with this newfound information sparked some unwanted emotions. This could not be happening! Why is it always one step forward, two steps back?

First of Summer
Niki x OC | Oneshot | Highschool AU | Oneshot
The first day of summer, the first day of our story...
-Niki's POV-
Today marks the last day of junior year and I’m all set for summer, nothing specific is planned though, just enrolled in some review classes for the upcoming college ability test this November.
For tonight though, it’s the dreaded junior-senior prom. As per the school’s tradition, this is like a send-off for the seniors while welcoming the juniors into semi-adulthood.
I, myself, don’t like these social functions—even my friends are all going with their respective dates. I didn’t ask anyone though; it wasn’t deemed necessary. I’m just going since this is the last time I’ll see my favorite seniors, especially Heeseung hyung.
Heeseung hyung took care of me since freshman year—when I first joined the dance club. He also introduced me to his friends who were part of it, and that made it easier for me. Although, I think, being part of that caused a rift between me and his sister, Lee Serin.
Serin has been my best friend growing up—we were basically friends since kindergarten. I didn’t know what happened, but I’m guessing that it’s because we had different interests, we just drifted apart.
The chats in the hallway were reduced to nods until it came to a point that we were completely ignoring each other.
She became popular, and probably her head ballooned with it. She’s untouchable, especially when her brother is the ever-so-famous Lee Heeseung.
Her friends are also the worst; everyone feared their little group, even the club knew how Heeseung hyung’s sister is problematic—how she’s such a spoiled brat, how she has a bigger allowance than him and an even better car which was gifted to her by their parents on her 16th birthday.
Speaking of, there she is now at one of the Science labs. Classes have been dismissed early today due to the event this evening, I wonder why she’s still here when everyone must be in their respective homes, getting ready or doing some last-minute touch-ups.
Unfortunately, I was assigned cleaning duties today, which explains why I’m still here. She, on the other hand looked glum, and she sat on one of the stools just outside the lab.
Now the problem is, how can I make her leave?
"Excuse me..." I approached her in the nicest way possible, "Lee Serin-ssi, I would need the stool so I can lock up the lab."
"I'm sorry?" she said with an automatic high-pitched voice. It's more or less 3 years since I last called her by her name, or rather talked to her.
"I said-" I was ready to repeat what I said, but she cut me off.
"I heard you.” she said icily. "Do I look like I’m deaf?" she gave me a disgusted look that says nobody shoos her away.
"Of course not, I wasn’t implying anything!" I said as if it was the most obvious thing to say. Maybe she still made me speechless, maybe because I still think she looks like a goddess. Okay, so nobody knew I liked her before.
Without another word, she stood up and kicked the stool away from the both of us, the loud clang sounded through the empty corridors.
"Thanks." I said in a non-sarcastic voice, but somehow it still annoyed her since she gave me a piercing look. "Did you need something else?" I asked as I looked at her in the same manner.
She just shook her head as response.
"Good. The place is empty, let me walk you to the parking lot. It's not safe here." I offered, and to my surprise, she agreed.
We walked silently for the first few steps, but I had the urge to start a conversation, "are you excited about the prom later?"
"I'm not..." she was too quick to reply accompanied by a frown.
"Why? You're probably going to be the prom queen..."
She became quiet for a minute as she sat on one of the benches that were near the school’s parking lot. "How can you be excited when the people voting for you don't even respect you?"
"What do you mean?" I sat beside her. It somehow reminded me of those times when all we did was kill time in each other’s backyard. "Of course, they respect you..."
"More like scared of me!” She scoffs, “That's why they're voting. This may sound too narcissistic but I know I'm the most envied girl in school, but at the same time, I know I'm the most hated." A sigh escaped her lips. "What about you? Were you planning to root for me at all?"
"Of course..." it wasn't a lie per se. I was indeed going to vote for her, and I think she's the prettiest of all the nominees.
"For what reason? A prom queen should be someone to represent the school in a good way, not because she's popular or the most envied one, or maybe just because she's rich. She should affect the people's lives in a positive manner, not bully them..."
"You affect them... but only, they get terrified!" I couldn't help but laugh at my lame joke, she did too.
“I know how my brother’s life is a living hell because of me and I know how excited he is so he can stay away from me when he goes to University—he must’ve ratted out how much of a bitch I am..”
She was right, Heeseung hyung had non-stop complained about her since she had this new set of friends. Telling us how they were all a bunch of useless brats that can’t do anything. I’m just surprised that she wasn’t affected.
"Nishimura Riki... Do you even want to go to the stupid prom?" she asked when I didn’t say anything. Serin mentioning my name again, after so long, made me feel giddy. It was the only thing that I needed to realize that I missed her, a lot. I shrugged as I glanced at her.
"Let's play hooky!" she said with a big grin. “Uhm, you don’t have a date, right?”
"I don’t have a date. But for real?"
"Yes! But I'm going to be dead for sure if Heeseung oppa finds out I didn't attend."
"I have an idea..." I offered, as she was all ears. "What if we don't skip the prom, just be late? What do you say?"
"Sounds like a plan. We're going to be fashionably late!" she giggled. "Come on, let’s head home first so you can change into your tux, and I can wear my ridiculous dress.”
We each rushed home, to prep for the evening. Both agreeing to see each other at 6:30, an hour and a half from now.
Mom thought I was excited about the prom as she took thousands of pictures. I was already frowning big time, but she still finds it adorable. Kept asking who my date was and didn't believe a single thing I said when I said I didn't have a date.
Oh great! There's one thing I forgot to ask, her number! Of all the things that I had to forget, it was this one essential thing.
I’m arguing with myself internally on whether to call Heeseung hyung or not. To call him and risk getting interrogated, or to wait for some miracle to happen and waste time?
My phone then rang, showing an unknown number.
"Hello?"
"Niki... it's me, Serin." the voice on the other line replied.
"I was about to call Heeseung hyung to get your number." I laughed.
"I stole your number from his phone..." she said proudly. "So where are we going to meet?"
"Shall I pick you up?" I offered. "But I have to tell you, the car I’m driving is an older model, you may not want to be seen in something old and beat up!” I teased.
"It doesn’t matter, to be honest. I actually don’t care. I just asked my parents for my car so I can piss off Heeseungie oppa!" That surprised me, as I expected another reason. This made me grin unknowingly, my mom looking at me weirdly.
I faced the opposite side just so she wouldn’t see my face, "Great, I'll be there in 20 minutes."
We both hung up as I made my way to the car, trying to avoid any more conversation with my mother.
This is not a date, this is not a date, this is not a date. I kept repeating this to myself as I didn’t want to assume. It’s even more surprising that she didn’t have a date for the prom.
It took me less than 20 minutes to reach their place, have I driven too fast?
Serin was wearing a light blue dress, the hem of the skirt flowed just above her knee, paired with a strappy high-heeled sandals which looked uncomfortable. The whole outfit she put together was not on the conservative side, but on her, it looked elegant. Breathtaking, in fact. She really is.
As a courtesy of course, I got off my car after I parked it, and I can tell that Heeseung hyung was surprised to see me.
"I didn't believe that you’re her date... I thought she was lying!"
"I told you oppa, I'm going with Niki..." she whined like a little kid. Cute.
"It's better that you go out with him since he's a close junior, just don't give him a headache, please. It’s already embarrassing enough to be your brother!" he scolded her. "Niki, take care of my sister, and I'm hoping that you’ll be patient enough with her. " He both pushed us lightly to my car, and we waved our goodbyes before leaving.
"Where are we going?" She was pretty excited when she asked.
"I have no idea..." I confessed. I didn't plan the whole thing, since I wasn't really good at stuff like this. She must've sensed my hesitation when she spoke.
"It's okay, lets grab some takeout first and then I know this place..."
We chatted like old friends as we drove, she was nothing like the Park Serin that everyone knew from school, tonight, she was just the fun-loving, silly girl that I used to be friends with.
After we got the food, she instructed me to drive until we reached a secluded place, which was overlooking the city. The air was fresh, far from the city's pollution.
"I often go here when I feel like my life is useless..." she stated. We were both sitting in my car's hood, looking at the city lights, "this place is like my sanctuary..."
She continued to speak without inhibitions, "When we were in our last year of middle school, I felt the pressure. I started to change without even knowing it until it came to the point that I got lost, and I didn't even know who I was... and after talking to you today, I was reminded of how happy I was back then... so thank you."
Dumbstruck was the perfect word to describe me at this moment, I didn't know what to say. This was the person that I fell in love with before. She was the Serin that I knew... the one I’ve always admired.
"Why are you looking at me like that?" she tilted her head, her clueless expression was so inviting.
And this made me realize that I never really stopped liking her. I just became contented with looking at her from afar.
"Nothing..."
"Oh come on!"
"It's just that..." I didn't finish my sentence, instead, I touched her cheeks, then slowly lowered my face to hers and kissed her. I can tell that she was shocked at first, but she slowly reciprocated.
"I've always wanted to do that..." I admitted, "but I never had the chance."
She rested her head on my shoulder, "you should've done that before... I needed a wakeup call.”
"Are you kidding? You were so high and mighty in school, I even thought you forgot about me.
"Well... not really, but the people around me made me feel like I had no life back then. I hate the idea that I had to give in with peer pressure. And I had this tiny crush on you, I thought you should know." She lowered her voice into a whisper.
“What? Can you speak a bit louder please?”
She hit my arm softly, and I knew she was shy about it, but still it was fun to tease her this way.
"It's okay babe, at least we're good now... and if you must know, I like you before too, and I still do.” That confession made her smile, “I wish we can just stay here…”
"Idiot, we can't. We still must go to the prom..."
I frowned, "Why?"
"Because I want to show you off!"
---
Time passed by so quickly that when we got to the prom, it was just in time for the announcement of the prom king and queen. The school principal was the one who announced it, but it wasn't Serin.
We were standing in the middle of the crowd, giving applause along with the rest of the students, I initially thought that Serin would be disappointed, but I was wrong--she was smiling from ear to ear with a look of contentment plastered on her pretty face
"Serin! I thought you wouldn’t make it!" one of her friends approached us, "What are you doing with him?" The said friend looked at me from head to foot, repulse evident in her eyes.
"Well, I'm here, aren't I?" Serin snapped, "and Niki is my date. Now if you'll excuse us."
“Was that okay?” I probed as she dragged me to the dance floor, “I mean she’s still your friend…”
“Ah, the friend that spreads baseless rumors about me.” She then wrapped her arms around my neck as we found our spot and started slow dancing as Butterfly by The Boyz started playing.
She tiptoed a little and gave me a kiss on my right cheek and smiled. I panicked internally when I realized that we were in front of the whole senior class, and I was right when I saw Heeseung hyung and the others looking at me, equally astounded but quietly cheering me on.
“Heeseung hyung is going to kill me!” I muttered and when she heard she looked around, instantly finding her brother staring at the both of us, arms crossed, as if waiting for an explanation.
“Oh he’ll live with it!” she rolled her eyes and gave me another kiss, this time on the lips. “I want to see him try though!”
This is going to be the most interesting summer of my life!

Why I like you...
Sim Jaeyun (Enhypen) x OC | Oneshot | Drabbles
Are you giving up and letting go for the right reasons?
18 months and counting, that's how long I've been in this relationship, but I've been thinking about ending it today.
Yes, there's no perfect relationship that exists, but the one I'm in right now is not something one would want, not in this lifetime.
Sim Jaeyun, or Jake and I met when we shared a class in Differential Equations in sophomore year. He's not someone whom I see myself dating since I have my eyes set on his friend, Park Jongseong.
When he invited me to go to a café to go through the week's lesson, I instantly agreed, because I needed help, and the guy was smart, like super smart.
Jake was hilarous and I never thought that we'd have so much in common, and he's really sweet! He made me feel comfortable and safe. He always invited me to go somewhere after class with the excuse of reviewing the lessons. We actually did, and then did something fun each time, our so-called dates were never redundant. And just a few weeks after, he asked me to be his girlfriend, and I instantly said yes!
Maybe because we became busy a year after into the relationship, it started to feel dry, noncommittal and stagnant. The thought of breaking up with him became apparent, and yet I couldn't tell him, I didn't have the heart to, plus he didn't do anything wrong.
The 'what if I was single' thought had been haunting me, I feel like the responsibility of being his girlfriend is too much to handle, I admit that I couldn't handle Sim Jaeyun.
As we speak, I'm making my way to their shared apartment. I needed to tell him this in person, I can't be the bigger asshole just by breaking up with him through text.
But truth be told, there's also this lingering feeling that maybe I don't want to break up with him or is it just knowing that I'd be the bad guy to end a perfectly good relationship.
I made it a point to list the reasons why I think this relationship is better to be nonexistent, I wanted to be sure.
One - he annoys the hell out of me. I’m not a morning person per se, and he calls me every damn morning just to be sure that I’m already up and ready to go to school. He even acts like I’m a damned kid that he has to take care of. Please, I have my own life and I know very well that I can take care of myself. Is it even right that the first voice I hear in the morning is always his?!
Two - he’s not serious. Every time I want to talk about something important or something that is really grave, he’d always, ALWAYS make fun of the situation, or me. He says I’m taking things way seriously and I should lighten up a bit. I get that he’s playful and lighthearted, but he should know when to be serious.
Three - he never backs me up! I swear, he just doesn’t. Every time I had to face my biggest fear – which is speaking in front of thousands, or fine, hundreds of people, I freak out… if not, I freeze and end up humiliating myself. But since we started dating, things started to be different, as he acts like it’s not a big deal, I end up getting so annoyed that I forget how I did with the speech.
Four - his friends are weird! I know I shouldn’t involve his friends, but it’s just too much! There’s Sunghoon who’s also one of his roommates, and he’s like Jake’s go to person, but whenever those two are together, you can expect that nothing good will come out of it. There’s also Sunoo who has this unhealthy fixation for all things cute, and Jungwon who always starts arguments because he’s just too tactless for his own good. Niki who’s so clingy and couldn’t do anything without Jake, Jongseong and his unmatched temper, and Heeseung who can’t keep a secret to save his life – HIS FRIENDS ARE TOO MUCH! Yet, I don’t have the heart to tell him to stay away from them, they make him happy...
Five - I hate his smile. Yep, I hate it. Before it was one of the reasons why I fell for him, but now he uses that smile to woo me, I sometimes have this urge to wipe it off his face, maybe because it makes you feel weak and helpless. If he smiles at you, you wouldn’t have the ability to say no, and it’s true – especially when he smirks, God that lovely smirk!
The elevator dinged and it broke my thoughts. I was a nervous wreck as I stepped out to the hallway and made my way to their dorm.
I stopped for a few seconds before ringing their doorbell, I took a deep breath before knocking. This is it.
Jake was the one who opened the door, and he wasn’t smiling either. “Do you want to come in? Is there something wrong Hana?” he asked, for some reason, he too looked tense.
I shook my head, he took it as a sign and stepped out the door, lightly closing it behind him… I have to say it. I called him earlier and told him that we needed to talk, I don’t know if he had an idea though.
But then I looked into his eyes and analyzed his worried expression, all the reasons why I hated him started to flood me.
He annoys the hell out of me because of his morning calls – this makes me smile every morning. This makes me look forward to my day. The exchange of sweet nothings is what fuels me to do things with a smile.
On him not being serious, if he didn’t make me laugh the first time we talked, I wouldn’t even be interested in him. Plus, the way he handled the relationship was fun. Up until now, I wouldn’t even realize that we’ve been together for over year, because time passes by quickly when I’m with him. He makes me enjoy life more, regardless of the fact that he’s not taking things seriously, I know he still listens to me, and he’s never let me handle any of those problems alone.
This is like a wakeup call; how can I even think that he’s not supporting me? He had always been there for me; Jake is the reason why my confidence grew. The way he cheers me on to do things that I never once dreamt of doing, I’ve succeeded because I knew I had him with me, and I felt so powerful and so self-assured, because at the back of my head, I know he’s there and he will always be there.
I’ve always loved his friends, and I know they are an odd bunch, but everyone has their own thing, my friends are not so different. And why do I even question their existence? They love my Jake like family, like a brother, they do take care of each other – I should be thankful for that!
Lastly, his smile – that one thing that made me fall for him…
There’s no way to fool myself, I love him, and it’s been growing ever since, I never have loved him less. The problem was just me; I am scared to be contented. A lot has changed in me because of him.
I looked at him again, anxiety is still obvious on his face. Who am I kidding, I could never break up with him, I could never hurt him – I love this guy to death, even if he’s full of imperfections, he’s still Sim Jaeyun, my Jake. I love him because he’s he.
He pursed his lips together and again, it showed his almost smile, which I couldn’t resist – I flung my arms around him and hugged him, I felt his whole body start to relax.
“Babe… I had this crazy thought that you would break up with me…” he said and returned my hug.
I hid my smile… Jake, you never knew what hell I’ve been going through since last night thinking that I’m going to end things with you today.
“I’m just glad that it’s not that…” he continued and laughed.
“Don’t worry, there’s no way I’m leaving you… I love you!”

An odd and interesting relationship
Lee Jihoon (Seventeen) x OC | Drabbles | One shot | Situationship
Sometimes, an unspoken agreement is better than something planned...
We have an odd and interesting relationship.
Odd because we share something intimate, interesting because we were never friends to begin with.
He is a colleague and an ex-crush. I got to know him as we would often bump into each other at a pub I frequented, and always ended doing the deed either at my place or his—didn’t have breakfast or brunch together, and never exchanged numbers.
Come Monday after that first night, we bumped into each other in the office, and acted like complete strangers, didn't even share a single glance.
Awkward? Yes, very!
And just a few days after, stealing glances became our thing, nothing more though… and it was a different story during the weekends.
It became an endless cycle, neither wanted to address it. Plus, it did feel like the topic was somewhat off-limits. This went on for months, happened once a week, Fridays. Nothing planned but it felt like there an unwritten commitment.
“Do you think Lee Jihoon is hot?” One of my colleagues turned friend whispered one time during lunch. “And he’s a real charmer!”
“Yeah, I guess.” I muttered nonchalantly, but secretly evaluated him, I’d have to agree though, he is hot and all things cute!
“I can’t believe you never checked him out, not even once?!” she asked incredulously, apparently surprised with my lack of interest, or so she assumed.
“I’m just not interested, and he’s technically our boss, so be quiet please!” I shushed, it's a good thing that we're not reporting to him directly, or this will not end well!
As subtle as I could, I tried to steal another glance at him and that's when I saw him staring right back at me with a smirk, fuck my life!
The jerk even made sure to pass by our table which is obviously out of his way! I panicked and looked down on my plate pretending that it was the most interesting thing I've seen, then he spoke, directed at me specifically.
"Hey, Timmy. You look good today!”, as he gave me the most annoying yet captivating grin. I was in awe and can feel my face getting warmer by the second, but acted that I wasn’t startled. He then continued to walk away when I acknowledged him with a nod.
“What was that about? Timmy? You are Fatima to people outside our team! Are you two that close?” she eyed me suspiciously, and I can only deny it and insisted that it was nothing. God, I know for a fact that she'll never let me forget about this moment, and if I'm lucky, she'd spill the tea to our team members!
Later that night, I made my way to the pub to have my usual drink, a part of me wanted to see him, but I still couldn’t forget about the incident earlier. It’s now half past 11, and I had to make sure that I was late.
A part of me is expecting for him to be flirting with someone at this time or maybe he'd already picked a random stranger and left...
I took a quick glance at our usual spot and didn’t see him there. Well, it’s a good thing right? Heck, I didn’t even know why there’s a bubbling disappointment in me.
And so, I sat on the free spot I found at the bar, but then I felt a hand on my shoulder, “You’re late.” Someone whispered to my ear, I shuddered, yep, definitely him.
"I had some stuff to do," I turned to look at him and smiled coyly at him.
"I thought you wouldn't make it, it was starting to feel lonely." he laughed and then took my hand, "come on, let's ditch this place. I have something planned for tonight."
He took a bill from his wallet and placed it on the bar to pay for my drink that wasn’t even touched, and we made our way to the exit.
As we stepped outside, he held my hand again as we walked to his car. “I hope you’ll enjoy tonight; we’re going to do something different.” He winked and I couldn’t help but roll my eyes at him. We hopped into his car and started driving.
He drove to a secluded place but not before stopping over on a convenience store to buy snacks, and non alcoholic beverages.
I am not even sure what I’m doing here right now, although the view is perfect, I’m just as confused.
“I told you I wanted to do something different.” He said, probably reading my mind. He started to loosen his tie and unbuckled the seatbelt.
I narrowed my eyes at him, “You mean do it, here?!” I panicked.
He chuckled and got me even more confused, “of course not! I mean, I never really knew you, and I was hoping to get to know you a bit better.”
“Well, I guess that’s good.” I smiled at him, now calm and suddenly laughing at my sudden outburst, “I’m so sorry! I just didn’t know what you were thinking.”
"Apology accepted."
And so we talked, as the night progressed, we just kept talking, no kissing, no touching or whatever sexual thing there is.
It was like a rendezvous of two old friends.
This is making me see him in a totally different light... after this, I know our situantionship will no longer be odd, but interesting. A big part of me is hopeful that there might be something more, we'll see how things go.

Well, hello there!
So this is technically a new account but I decided to still use the old URL, I've had issues with the old one, and I thought it might be easier to create a new one instead lol. I'm going to reupload all the works I've completed and will also do some re-editing.
As for a little background, I'm mostly writing about Enhypen, SVT, TBZ, and NCT, considering other groups as well :)
